GCSE Design & Technology | Graphic Products Portfolio Checklist / Order

Front Cover - This should include: GCSE Graphic Products Coursework, Project Title, Your Name, Your Candidate Number, Centre Number: 63255, and a photograph of your project. Contents Slide - all main areas of the portfolio should be identified and slide numbers indicated. Project Outline - Situation, Design Brief, Preliminary Specification Slide Analysis of the Problem Questions Research Plan - spider diagram, what do you need to find out, what are the important points to solve the problem here? Gantt Chart (Timeplan) Questionnaire with graphs and analysis Research inc. Product Analysis (existing Products) Any other research e.g. - ergonomics / button size testing etc. with summarising comments and analysis, how will this help you design? Specification - at least 28 points including FACTS, FACTS and more FACTS, exact sizes that your product needs to meet will help here. Remember you will need specification points for both your block model and you packaging / POSD!!! Initial ideas 6 ideas for your 3D outcome and 4 initial ideas for your packaging or POSD etc. you should evaluate the ideas at the end against your specification. Use of nets is essential here Development this should include a combination of drawings showing how you have gone from the initial idea to the final product for both the 2D and 3D outcome (in design NOT manufacture!!!) Include Pro Desktop Development here and design changes you have made to the packaging layout, text and style etc. Modelling you can include evidence (inc. photos) of any models you have made during the development section, e.g. blue foam, card or plasticine!! You must submit card or foam models for marking on the practical work hand in day. (if you havent done this see your teacher now!) Final 3D Model Idea - Rendering of Final Pro Desktop Model perhaps from a number of angles, one per PowerPoint slide. Engineering drawing from Pro Desktop / 2D Design / Solidworks of your final idea with all sizes etc. Engineering drawings of any separate components you manufactured e.g. remoter control unit or car wheels etc. Final Packaging Idea - Include your 2D Design NET and your final packaging graphics on different slides. Plan of Manufacture - a flow chart with quality control measures and feedback loops (remember you need to produce a separate flow chart for your product and your packaging), a table of costing for your project (include all materials, spray paint, an estimation of laser cutting charges etc.) Evaluation - 1. Evaluation of manufacturing methods, 2. General Evaluation 3. Evaluation against specification. 4. Evaluation in use. Make sure you include photographs of testing and of how you made it ( a mood board showing 20 or so images in a cluster is very effective way of showing the examiner what you have achieved. Put this 'mood board' somewhere in the evaluation of manufacture section) Adaptation for Mass / Batch Production - use notes and diagrams to explain how you think each of your components would be manufactured using large scale production methods. e.g. injection moulding for plastic components and 'Offset Lithographic' printing for packaging etc. Bibliography / Sources list all the books, magazines, websites, computer packages (e.g. focus on plastics or focus on graphic products etc) you have used, MS Powerpoint, Pro Desktop V8.0, Techsoft 2D Design, Techsoft Visual Toolpath, Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Google image search (list important keywords you searched for if possible)
