*********************************************************** * 4.0 APPLICABLE PLATFORMS *********************************************************** 4.1 System Requirements ------------------------------------------------1. Select Help > About Wireless Manager to view Modem Model and Modem Version (firmware). *********************************************************** * 5.0 INSTALLING AND UNINSTALLING *********************************************************** 5.1 Auto Install from device (Mac OS X does not support auto install) -------------------------------------------------

1. Insert or connect your Mobile Broadband Modem. 2. After a few seconds, the Windows autoplay dialog box (for example: Sony Ericsson MD300) opens. Select Install Wireless Manager. Note: If the autoplay dialog box fails to appear, open Windows Explorer, navigate to My Computer, find the disk drive, for example, Sony Ericsson MD300 (G:), and double-click Setup.exe in the INSTALL folder. 3. The software installation procedure starts. Follow the on-screen instructions. Note: If Microsoft .NETTM 2.0 or later is not installed on your PC, you will be prompted to install it. Important! The installation process might pause for several minutes. During this time the drivers are saved to your hard drive. DO NOT cancel. Note: Wireless Manager is installed in the same language as your Windows operating system. If Wireless Manager does not support your language, English is installed. 4. When installation is complete, click Finish. 5. Eject or unplug your Mobile Broadband Modem, wait 10 seconds and insert or plug it back in. If an autoplay dialog box opens, cancel or ignore it. 6. After a few seconds, the New Hardware Wizard opens and device driver software is installed. Several Found New Hardware pop-up messages are displayed indicating that device driver software installation is taking place. Windows Vista will list the drivers if you click for status. Note: If you are installing on Windows 2000, you may need to unplug/eject your Mobile Broadband Modem, reboot your PC and then insert/connect it. 7. After Windows finishes installing device drivers, a final message displays in the notification area indicating that your new hardware is installed and ready to use. 5.2 Installing Wireless Manager from CDROM -------------------------------------------------

DO NOT insert the Sony Ericsson USB Modem until after the Setup.exe program has completed. To install the Wireless Manager software on your PC, complete the following steps: 1. Uninstall any previous version of Wireless Manager by following the instructions in section 5.3 of this readme. 2. Unzip the files in the "MD300 Wireless Manager 5.2.2052.17.zip" file to a temporary directory on your computer. 3. Run Setup.exe from the temporary directory where the files were unzipped in Step 2. 4. Follow the installation instructions that display on your screen. The installation process might require other programs to install. These will be installed automatically. You must reboot your computer if prompted by the Setup program in order for the installation to proceed. The Wireless Manager installation will start automatically. 5. When the installation process is complete: a. Ensure that your SIM card includes a subscription that provides access to data services. b. Ensure that your SIM card is inserted into your Sony Ericsson USB Modem. c. Insert your Sony Ericsson USB Modem. 6. After a few seconds, the New Hardware Wizard opens and installs the necessary drivers onto your PC. Several "Found New Hardware" pop-up messages are displayed indicating that new hardware is being installed. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the device driver installation. 5.3 Uninstalling Wireless Manager ------------------------------------------------Before you uninstall the software, remove your Sony Ericsson USB Modem from your PC. To remove the Wireless Manager software from your PC, complete the following steps: 1. From the Windows desktop, Select Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs. 2. From the Currently installed programs list, select Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager 5, and click Change/Remove. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to remove the following program:

Sony Ericsson MD300 Wireless Modem 5.4 Removing Wireless Manager Data ---------------------------------To remove Phonebook, Settings and SMS data: 1. Using Windows Explorer, Navigate to the following directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ Sony Ericsson\Wireless Manager where <username> is the user name of the Windows account that was used to install Wireless Manager. 2. Delete the files in this directory. *************************************************************** * 6.0 KNOWN ISSUES WITH WIRELESS MANAGER *************************************************************** 1. Installation over old version of Wireless Manager: If install shield displays a "Insert disk 1", the user must cancel, perform the uninstall procedure from 5.3, and then re-start install. 2. Windows XP Media Center Edition issue: There is a known issue with Windows XP Media Center and external modems: The MD300 is not recognized on insertion. Users can disable the "Media Center Scheduler Service" service in Media Center Service Center, enabling the Wireless Manager to function properly and the device is recognized. The user can then re-enable "Media Center Scheduler Service" after the MD300 is recognized. *************************************************************** * 7.0 KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE MD300 Wireless Modem *************************************************************** Sony Ericsson MD300 Wireless Modem Driver 4.40.5.7 1. The device may not be recognized when laptop resumes from a sleep state. The user needs to remove and re-insert device. 2. Users upgrading from PC300, may be prompted to install an unsigned driver. Users can cancel this window. ******************************************************************* * 8.0 KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE Apple Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 ******************************************************************* 1. You must install the "Launch2net - Sony Ericsson Edition" software first. 2. Failure to install "Launch2net - Sony Ericsson Edition" software first and then inserting and removing the MD300 can result in an OS X panic. 3. Resuming from sleep may result in an OS X panic.

4. There is no mass storage feature available on this release. 5.
