How To Use Your REGINA Polisher-Scrubber-Rug Shampooer
Speeds to perform the various floor
conditioning tasks.
Three speed models use:
HI-Polishing, Buffing, Floor Reconditioning
MED-Rug Shampooing
La-Waxing and Scrubbing
SCRUBBING
Use REGINA coarse bristle Flo-thru
brushes or scrubbing pads.
Dispense a mild solution of soap or deergent
sparingly to floor. Start polisher. If your
Regina floor machine is equipped with a
dispenser, the scrubbing solution may be
dispensed directly from the dispenser into the
flo-thru brushes. If not, apply scrubbing solu
tion directly to floor. To avoid splashing on
walls, dispense liquid a few feet from base-
board. Scrub approximately 25% of your
floor area at a time. Before starting new area,
remove dirty suds with cloth or squeeze rinse
with clean water and repeat operation.
Wood floors should never be scrubbed with
soap and water. Clean with recommended
solvent.
Two speed models use:
HI-Polishing, Buffing, Rug Shampooing,
Floor Reconditioning
LO-Waxing and Scrubbing
One speed models: Multi-purpose use.
STEEL WOOL PADS
For hard-toclean areas, Regina steel wool
pads can be attached to scrubbing brushes.
This will provide deep-down cleaning. You
may also use steel wool pads for removing
hardened wax that defies normal scrubbing.
Steel wool pads will prove handy in removing
scuff marks which cannot be removed by
ordinary soap or detergent.
WAXING
Before applying wax, the floor should be clean
and thoroughly dry. Apply a
(Continued on following page)
WAXING
(Continlled froIII preceding page)
small amount of wax to get a thin. even coat
- avoid over-waxing. Using clean, dry,
coarse bristle brushes, rub wax thoroughly
into the pores and allow to dry approximately
30 minutes. Paste wax may be applied by
spreading approximately a tablespoon of wax
directly on scrubbing and waxing brushes or
steel wool pads. Rub into floor so that a
thin. even coat is obtained. Allow time to dry
before polishing.
Several applications of wax will be necessary
for new unfinished or newly sheilacked hard-
wood floors. Allow each coat to dry thorough-
ly before polishing and before rewaxing.
CAUTION: Some liquid waxes are made to be
applied with strokes of an applicator. Do not
apply the non-scuff type self-polishing waxes
with your dispenser. Avoid use of spirit
waxes on asphalt or rubber tile - use emul-
sion waxes only. Read directions of wax you
are about to use.
POLISHING
Use REGINA fine bristle brushes.
When the wax is dry, attach clean polishing
brushes and polish the floor thoroughly. Go
back and forth over the floor and polish until
a hard sparkling finish is obtained. Your
Regina floor polisher has been scientifically
balanced for uniform polishing.
BUFFING
To obtain a high lustre shine attach Regina
felt buffing pads and buff the area already
polished. This operation may be repeated
several times before rewaxing is necessary.
Buffing your floors will restore the lustre of
the original waxing and improve the finish.
If your Polisher is equipped with lambs wool
buffing pads, they may be used for obtaining
an even brighter shine. Lambs wool pads can
also be used for polishing table tops, coun-
ters, desks, etc.
DRY CLEANING RUGS
Use Regina FloThru Rug Shampoo
Brushes
(White P.E.X. Bristles)
1. Attach clean rug cleaning brushes and set
polisher on rug to be cleaned.
2. For best results, apply compound accord-
ing to manufacturer's instructions. Apply
on an area approximately one-quarter of
rug or carpet.
3. Move polisher slowly over rug to be cleaned
and operate from the center towards the
edges. Do not bear down, contact with
rug is sufficient. Use compound gener-
ously so that brushes remain well lubri-
cated. After having completed one sec-
tion, start another until rug has been com-
pletely cleaned. Compound should remain
on rug for specified time directed by man-
ufacturer, then thoroughly vacuumed when
dry. If rug is extremely soiled, a second
application may be necessary.
CAUTION: Certain rug cleaning compounds
cannot be used on carpets made of synthetic
fiber.
SHAMPOOING RUGS
Use Regina Flo-Thru Rug Shampoo
Brushes
(White P.E.X. Bristles)
Your new Regina floor machine will not only
scrub and polish floors but will also beauti-
fully shampoo your carpets. Just follow the
directions for a fine professional job. (Some
Regina units do not come equipped for rug
shampooing.)
(See REGINA accessory order form enclosed
with your polisher.)
1. Brushes should be thoroughly wetted with
warm water before attaching to unit.
2. Test a small hidden area by applying some
solution and rubbing with a white cloth
to observe color fastness. Check this same
area with your shampooer to check the
effect of your brushes.
Brush the pile in one direction while still
damp, allow to dry, and then check for
any change in surface texture. If the test
is satisfactory, remove furniture or place
heavy plastic, unprinted cardboard, or
aluminum under legs to prevent rust spots.
You may find that certain stains such as
ink, fruit, or animal, which have been on
the rug for some time will not be removed
by shampooing.
Spots such as grease and chewing gum,
which are not water soluble, should be re-
moved with a dry-cleaning fluid. A special
hint for removing gum is to place an ice
cube over it, when the gum begins to
freeze it may chip off.
3_ Pour liquid to be used into container, fill
approximately three-fourths (%) full, and
then firmly tighten cap.
4. Clean a small area at a time, 3' x 3' or
approximately 1,4 of carpeting area. Do
not dispense liquid unless unit is running
and in motion. Move polisher slowly over
rug using short overlapping strokes. The
area should be criss-crossed from left to
right to insure uniform overall cleaning.
Cleaning solution should be dispensed in-
termittently until area is covered with a
thin layer of foam. Operate unit until
foam has disappeared before starting a
new area. The last stroke in each path
should be in the same direction. Do not
overscrub carpeting!
A second application may be necessary in
heavily soiled areas_ Do not overwet
carpeting!
5. Do not bear down, contact with carpeting
is sufficient. Do not overwet carpeting -
under-padding may become wet and pos-
sibly lead to mildewing, color fading, or
staining.
6. Inaccessible areas, such as those under
radiators, can be cleaned using a hand
brush dipped in the shampoo solution_
7. Drying time can be decreased by using
a fan or other air moving device or by
opening windows. Humidity will also effect
drying time. The best results wilf be ob-
tained if shampooing is done in dry
weather.
S. To avoid streaked appearance when dry,
each cleaned area should be fluffed, brush
in the direction of the pile, using a damp
cloth or brush_ Tl1is will "set" the pile in
one direction. Place a piece of heavy
cardboard or other moisture-resistant ma-
terial under brushes if s e t ~ i n g unit on
carpeting.
9_ When thoroughly dry, vacuum the carpet-
ing with your Electrikbroom to remove
powdery residue and suspended soil and to
fluff nap.
10_ Overnight drying of your carpeting is pref-
erable whenever possible, but if it be-
comes necessary to walk on it before
completely dry, place towels or white
cloths on the traffic area.
11. Dispenser, hose, and nozzle must be thor-
oughly cleaned after each use and should
never be stored filled with liquid. Remove
container from unit, fill with warm water,
and allow water to flow through hose and
nozzle to insure thorough cleaning. Be
sure container and hose are completely
dry_
IMPORTANT: Dispenser, hose and nozzle must
be thoroughly cleaned after each use and
should never be stored filled with liquid.
(Regina recommends the use of new formula
Regina Rug Shampoo.)
HOW TO CARE FOR
YOUR POLISHER-SCRUBBER-
RUG SHAMPOOER
To clean brushes, wash
in warm water and soap.
CAUTION: Do not use
hot water. Shake out and
stand on bristles to dry.
Don't force dry by using
oven or radiator.
To clean buffing pads, rub surfaces in warm
water and suds. Rinse in cold water. Stretch
out to shape and allow to dry.
TO CLEAN THE
AUTOMATIC DISPENSER
1. Remove dispenser from your floor ma-
chine and empty surplus liquid in desired
container.
2. Fill dispenser approximately one-half full
with clear warm water, close top firmly
and shake well to remove wax deposit
from inside walls.
3. If wax has hardened, let warm water re-
main in dispenser for approximately ten
minutes to allow the wax to soften, then
rinse thoroughly.
4. Dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned im-
mediately after each use. Turn dispenser
upside down, with cap removed, and com-
pletely drain all contents. Rinse water
should be emptied in same manner. Do
not store contents in dispenser.
5. Keep dispenser and tube clean to insure
top performance for the next time you
want to use it.
