Limited solar contribution to existing capacity only up to 10 15 % possible No cost involved in transmission system and separate power block Reduced capital cost for improved high capacity factor Low-risk and do not require very large solar-field for a given CSP plant capacity Hybridization will produce CO2 due to the combustion of natural gas / coal The operations of hybrid systems not limited with the storage capacity

GEMASOLAR, THE FIRST TOWER THERMOSOLAR COMMERCIAL PLANT WITH MOLTEN SALT STORAGE
Commercial Operation
KVK Energy
Big Dish technology or solar tower with hot air cycle able to realize 5400C steam No references for CSP hybrid with biomass, waste or Syngas yet No CSP plant connected to the HP steam line yet No CSP/Energy from Waste plant under construction yet but Energy from Waste/CCGT hybrid plants exist in Bilbao, Spain and Mainz, Germany No Syngas co-fired in OCGT or CCGT yet; largest Syngas project is(300kWe).

OPPORTUNITIES
FUTURE PROSPECTS AND MARKETS
Both hybridization and thermal storage options will continue to offer a contrasting range of advantages and disadvantages - but as fossil fuel prices go up and PV prices continue to fall, fossil fuel resource scarcity and environmental concerns will place an upward pressure on hybrid system energy prices.
On maturity of thermal storage options and costs decrease I expect dedicated, 100% solar systems will dominate CSP deployment. ISCC systems will remain a good option, but are limited to sunny sites with big gas combined-cycle plants feasibility.

Integration Strategy: Solar energy to be added to supply steam to the plants cold reheat line and/ or the steam extraction lines for the plants feed water heater.
Energy output of the solar plant to be monitored against declared performance. May be considered under R&D programme to provide capital subsidy.
