SECTION 262719 SURFACE METALLIC RACEWAY SYSTEM PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 A. B.

GENERAL The General Requirements for Electrical Work, Section 16010, are a part of this Section as though set forth herein. Examine other sections of Division 16 and ascertain their effect upon, and relationship to the work in this Section. Provide the products and execute the work for this Section in accordance with the product and execution requirements, where applicable, as set forth in other sections of Division 16, to provide an interrelated electrical system. Furnish and install all labor and material required for a surface metallic raceway system for standard receptacles to include receptacles, devices, supports, fittings and accessories necessary to complete the installations indicated. In the event the Contractor chooses to furnish and install a system or item of equipment of different arrangement from the system herein specified, he shall furnish all additional labor and material required by the system at no additional cost to the Owner, and shall obtain prior approval. Shop Drawing Submittals: 1. Submit Shop Drawings of the complete system. Shop Drawings shall include sizes and lengths of raceways as verified with laboratory furniture Shop Drawings, end caps, raceway cover spacings, grounding, locations of service entrances, receptacle types and manufacturers, receptacle spacings, receptacle labeling with proper voltage, phase, circuit and panelboard designations as indicated on the drawings. 2. Branch circuiting and wiring shall be done in the field. To this effect, Shop Drawings shall show number of wires, wire sizes and required length, termination and installation methods as well as any necessary accessories to complete the installation as shown on plans. 3. Shop drawings shall be accompanied at the same time of the submittal, by floor plans showing all raceway locations, with each piece numbered the same as the corresponding number of the raceway piece number in the submittal. Quality assurance: Manufacturer shall have as a minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing similar raceway systems and that they are ISO 9001 certified. All factory pre-wired raceway systems shall be UL listed as a multi-outlet assembly/ system.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 A. B. GENERAL Acceptable Product: Wiremold Series AL3300 Aluminum Surface Metal Raceway as determined by drawing called out as PS1. Raceways to be factory pre-assembled and pre-wired complete including bases, covers, end plates, receptacles, fittings and connections, to exact lengths to match the lengths of the cabinets and shelving as indicated on laboratory furniture Shop Drawings since the lengths shown on electrical drawings are illustrative and diagrammatic only and are not accurate. Also see island bench details on the drawings. All receptacle circuits shall be prewired for the entire length of the section, leaving 2 foot pigtail for field connection and properly tagged circuit identification in field. Tap splicing of wires shall be done using Wirenut B Cap twist on wire connectors. Scotchlok and Wego type connectors are not acceptable. Wiring shall be stranded #10 wire utilizing NEMA color codes with shared ground and separate neutral. Wire clips (Wiremold part number AL3300WC or equal) shall be utilized 4 every 10 feet in all

raceways to hold cables in raceway upon future maintenance. All receptacles shall be back wired. Where communications devices are required raceway shall include a divider and a 2A communications bezel and module to accept two discrete RJ-45 style jacks by ADC/Krone. Raceway base, cover and end plates to be constructed of extruded aluminum #6063-T5, 0.060 inch minimum wall thickness. Finish to be clear anodized #AA-C22A31 Architectural Class II. Blank snap-in raceway covers to be precut to 12 inch sections. Covers shall be identified by means of engraved 3/16 inch black letters indicating receptacle voltage, phase, and amperage for receptacles other than the regular 20A, 120V receptacles (i.e., 208V, 1 phase, 30A) at top of receptacle. All receptacles shall have panel and circuit designation (i.e., LPA22) at bottom of receptacle. All dedicated 20A, 120V receptacles shall be labeled "DEDICATED" at top of receptacles. All receptacles in the raceway shall be supported with AL3300 device mounting bracket which holds the device in base of raceway when covers are removed (Wiremold part number AL3346BE, AL3346BX, or equal). When mounting 30A devices covers must include Wiremold part number ADAPT2.13 Adaptor Box and Z Brackets. Each receptacle shall be identified by a label noting the panel and circuit numbers matching the labeling indicated on each respective coverplate to avoid confusion. Where raceways are shown connected at right angles to each other, the end plate of the raceway overlapping the faceplate of the other raceway shall be regressed flush with the ends of the raceway base/body. Receptacles in raceways shall be P&S5362-GRY for regular 20A, 120V, P&S2095-GRY for all GFI, P&S5871-GRY for simplex 6-20R, and P&S3801-BK for 30A/250V black simplex device. Where 30A/250V device is required factory shall install a adaptor box to accommodate depth of device.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 A. B. C. D. GENERAL Raceways to receive receptacles of type, quantity and spacing as indicated on Plans. Raceways to be mounted on walls and casework parallel to or at right angles to structure and casework. The number of conductors installed in any raceway shall not be greater than the number for which the raceway is approved. Ground continuity shall be maintained throughout the entire raceway length by means of factory installed separate insulated Code-size grounding conductors. Each equipment grounding conductor in a conduit homerun entering the raceway shall be connected to the ground terminals of the receptacles and to the ground stud in the raceway interior. Receptacle cover plates shall also be bonded. Each 20A, 120V circuit of an individual or multi-circuit wiring in a raceway shall be provided with individual #12 AWG neutral conductor for each circuit. In multi-wire branch circuits, the continuity of a grounded conductor (neutral) shall not be dependent upon device connections, such as receptacles, etc., where the removal of such devices would interrupt the continuity. At least (6 inches) (152 mm) of free conductors shall be left at each outlet, junction and switch point for splices or the connection of fixtures or devices. A compound miter saw with a 10 carbide tip blade with no less than 50 teeth shall be used when it is necessary to make field modifications or additions to raceway that require cutting. Contractor shall turn over compound miter saw with 10 carbide tip blade with no less than 50 teeth to owner at completion of project. END OF SECTION 16111
