General
The instruction in hand applies for AMSLER control units with the following designations: AMSLER effect yarn devices GOE, SDE, ICS AMSLER effect yarn device double SDE/SYN AMSLER effect yarn devices MC/TC AMSLER COLOR-effect device
A new dimension is given to the user with these AMSLER control units of the series 4000 concerning operating extras and programming possibilities. All adjustment and program parameters can be transferred to the control unit via the input and display unit named as "Terminal" in the following text. The control units of the series 4000 are prepared as additional optional display unit for the connection of a screen. Furthermore there exists a CAN-BUS interface, where programs and adjustment parameters can be transferred directly to a Personal Computer or from a Notebook with our AMSLER Online Interface Cable to the control unit. The necessary technical facilities for the transfer as well as the hard and software for the operation of the Personal Computer can be received as option. Not only all parameters, but also the programs themselves can be directly modified and adapted via the terminal. The programs can be stored together with the corresponding parameters in a "MEMO CARD" and are therefore available in future through the call-up of the corresponding program number or they can be modified or stored again at any time. A maximum of 32 programs can be stored with the corresponding parameters on each MEMO CARD. We can deliver the AMSLER control units according to equipment in different housing versions. Mounting versions or bench desks are possible dependent on the machine type and space conditions. The AMSLER control units always consist of the control unit of the Series 4000 and a power electronic part. The control unit and the power electronic part can also be placed separately from each other. All AMSLER devices may only be operated by persons who know how to use it. Under no circumstances the devices may be opened while they are running. Risk of injury !

Current supply
No modern control device is working without electronic units, which are responsing out-ofcontrol on too large alterations regarding the tension supply. The stabilization switchings installed in the AMSLER control units guarantee faultless function of the control up to line voltage alterations of +/-10%. The connection in series of a line voltage stabilization is unavoidable, if larger line voltage alterations have to be expected. Besides, voltage peaks and /or voltage interruptions can also cause interference at the control devices. The connection of the control to the electrical supply has to be effected on the basis of the enclosed drawings. The current supply has to be protected separately. Please take the correct values of the fuses from the scheme of connection. It is essential that the current supply cable is provided with the correct cross section. The earth connection requires special attention. Do not measure the current supply at facilities showing large alterations regarding the current consumption (e.g. main engines of spinning machines). The customer bears the responsibility regarding the guarantee of the correct current supply and compliance with the national safety regulations. Damages on our units, caused through line voltage alterations or wrong connections, are excluded from the AMSLER guarantee.
3.
Electrical connections
Please take the electrical connections between the parts of the AMSLER control unit and the manufacturing machine from the enclosed drawings. All necessary electrical lines with the exception of the connection cable for the main current supply and the lead of the safety chain are delivered already prepared .The partially specially shielded cables should be installed safely and possibly short, without crossing other lines. The current supply must be fused with the following values. AMSLER Effect yarn devices GOE AMSLER Effect yarn devices SDE, ICS AMSLER Effect yarn devices ICS AMSLER Effect yarn device double SDE/SYN AMSLER Effect yarn device Triple SDE-MC/SYN AMSLER Effect yarn devices MC/TC AMSLER COLOR-Effect device 3 x 400 V / 16 A 3 x 400 V / 16 A 3 x 400 V / 16 A 3 x 400 V / 25 A 3 x 400 V / 35 A 3 x 400 V / 25 A 3 x 400 V / 16 A
If the voltage does not reach the 400 Volt EU standard, utilization of other connections or transformers may be necessary. This aspect must be indicated when ordering our device. The correct values for the voltage are indicated on the connection drawings, which are delivered together with the unit. The frequency is set to 50/60 Hz according to standard. Alterations in the current voltage cause problems, even short interruptions can damage the sensitive electronic and microprocessor-controlled control system. Mostly it is sufficient to switch off the device and to restart it again. The system will run again as before after a few seconds. Please make sure that the spinning machine generates no slubs. Besides these errors can damage the AMSLER Servo-Motor regulator (s. also Chapt. 2)

Commission
In order to become quickly accustomed with the operation, we recommend following a set sequence pattern. We recommend the establishing of checklists on which he quotes step by step how to proceed in certain situations. The checklist provided here is to provide help, and can be expanded upon by the user. The commission shall be carried out by persons being familiar with the manufacturing machine and who have read the operating instruction in hand. The correct and complete execution of all mechanical and electrical installation work forms the basis of successful commission. This is especially true for work carried out by nonAMSLER-TEX AG personnel. Checklist for the commission Textile technical conditions have to be created at the machine in order to operate the effect yarn device. Check the current supply as well as electrical connections. Insert the supplied AMSLER MEMO CARD into the terminal. Switch on the control unit, but do not start the machine. Call up a MP-program of the AMSLER MEMO CARD and load it (see Chapter 4.2.2.1.). We have controlled the operability of these programs. The parameter adjustment belonging to the program, can be inspected by selecting the first line EP-Parameter edit in the main menu and the control of the entry lines in the sub-menu. Remove the MEMO CARD out of the unit and keep it safe, once the requested program is loaded correctly and the machine produces (see Chapt. 8.5.)
5.
Operation
The control unit of the series 4000 is capable of operating the following AMSLER effect yarn devices: - Effect yarn device GF Type SDE (SDE = Self Drive Electrical). Differential gear with electrical servomotor to any 3-cylinder-ring spinning machine up to 600 spindles. - Effect yarn device MC (MC = Multicount). Two differential gears each with one electrical servomotor to any 3-cylinder-ringspinning machine up to 480 spindles. - Effect yarn device COL/FLOCK. (COL = Colour Effect) Feeding of colour effects via a four channelspecial draft system on drafter sliver on any distance.

Some functions are reserved for the AMSLER Service personnel for the reason of safety the delete of MP data can for example damage the complete control.
5.2.
The terminal is the user interface of the control units of the series 4000. A (Notebook) PC or the Online-connection can be connected optional. The result is a better overview, for example all command lines are illustrated on one picture or the connection to the previous program lines is more visible at the program production than on the display. We therefore recommend use of our PK Software for effect yarn development, which can be used with all IBM-compatible PCs, as well as the connection of our MEMO CARD Interface box. Here, we only want to touch upon the possibility of the data transfer from the control unit to a Personal Computer and vice versa. The AMSLER Network connects several AMSLER control units of the series 4000 and facilitates the supervision of the production in all details with error messages and lists. It can be received as option. Information on this can be found in the corresponding operating instructions. Page 7

7 Error messages
The error display occurs on the external net PC at the terminal, if existing. Besides it is possible to connect an alarm lamp, which has to be mounted well visible on the machine. The control is able to process errors according to their priority. - Low priority: error (warning) is indicated at the terminal and via the alarm lamp. The machine continues with the work. The warning is displayed, as long as the error exists. error is indicated at the terminal and via the alarm lamp. The machine is stopped via contact point of the control.
- High priority:
Errors which do not cause the machine to stop are displayed only as long as they exist. If the error continues to exist and if a further error occurs with the same priority, then the new error is written in the display storage. The next error, existing in the display storage is indicated as soon as the first error has been rectified. The display occurs also, if the error no longer exists in the display storage. If an error exists with higher priority than the one indicated before, then the one with higher priority is displayed. Remove errors, which are stopping the machine and invalidate it afterwards by pressing the key "ALARM". Otherwise it is not possible to restart the machine. IMPORTANT! Only serious errors cause the machine to stop, e.g. errors, which can be also visible in the product. Search therefore the cause of the error and remove it do not simply press the invalidation key.

8 Basic concepts
Effects of different lengths and thickness can be manufactured corresponding to the possibilities of the used effect yarn device. The machine, on which an effect yarn device has been mounted, determines the production of the effect type. We want to give a short overview in this operating instruction concerning the development of effect yarn. However it is not possible to treat all machine-dependent and textile-technical influences.
If we divide now the requested effect length of 125 mm by 25 mm, a "5" is then resulting as first number of the program code. The number "1" has to be programmed as second number, so that the channel is activated. The effect thickness can be determined between "1 and F with the second number at an effect yarn device with servomotor drive. If we divide now the requested distance of 250 mm by 25 mm, then "A" (A = 10) is resulting as the first number of the second program code. A "0" has to be programmed as second number, so that the channel is switched off. The program consists therefore of the Code 51 A0 51 A0 ..... A program with different effect lenghts and distances can be seen in the illustration, calculated with same values for parameter entry and delivery constant.

Illustration 3
If there exist other values for the parameter entry of the step unit, for example "2" the product from the delivery constant and the parameter entry of the step unit would be: 2,5 mm x 2 = 5 mm. If we divide now the requested effect length of 125 mm by 5 mm, we receive then the value "25" for the first number of the first program code. But we know, that we only can entry a value between 1 and F for a number. That means, that we have to divide the value "25" into two numbers and thus receive the program code "F1" (F=15) and "A1" (A=10). Thus an effect in the program is produced as two effects without distance and as one. The program-code is based on the hexa decimal numerical system (0-9, 10=A, 11=B, 12=C, 13=D, 14=E, 15=F) and consists always of two numbers. The end of a program must be marked with the code "FF". If a further program code follows after "FF", it is then not processed by the control. If the control recognizes the program code "FF" it will be then continued at the address "0". Remark: The program-code "FF" describes always the end of a program and can therefore not be used as regular code within a program. If you wish an effect which has the code FF, it has to be separated into two codes (example: AF and 5F). The single number of the program code has different functions dependent from the entry in the identification line. IMPORTANT!: First of all carry out the entry in the identification line.

Correct impulse
x1
The start angle of the servo motor is given (angle ). If the impulse is too short (see right side), the effect cannot be produced correctly because the motor stops before giving the necessary impulse for creating correct slubs.
SEb = Basis step in mm, see sheet of chart SL = slub-prolongation, in SEb values (added to SEc lengths ) SK = slub-shortening, in SEb values (subtracted from SEc lengths) FD = slub-Thickness, see sheet of chart, influenced by placing the ratio % value: slub-ratio in % (range: 100% up to 0%) = deviation of determined slub-thickness

Prolongation (SL) and shortage (SK) of the slub. Number for the deviation of previous determined slub length in mm. Slub-thickness (FD) determines, how thick the slubs should be. Place 0 for no deviation, if the values shall be overtaken from the determined codes. A value can be entered, if the codes are to be overwritten. The slub-ratio adapts the maximum slub thickness to the previous determined value. The slub thickness is not corrected downwards at 100 % (maximum), no slub is spinned at 0% (minimum).

Adjust the values for the basic cycle higher or lower according to the type of the spinning machine.
CAUTION: The enclosed battery has to be replaced after approx. 3 years, as otherwise the data get lost on the MEMO CARD. We refuse any liability due to damage occurring because poor battery capacity or the wrong battery type. Please quote always the date of the battery renewal on the MEMO CARD. The MC has a folding compartment for the button battery on the opposite of the plug side. Please buy a new Lithium battery No. CR2330 in time before you have to exchange. Older AMSLER MEMO CARDs (recognizable on the small cross-screw on the battery compartment) needs a Lithium battery No. CR2025. Execute the exchange of the battery according to the scheme as stated below: (Please observe the battery pole +/-). Check once again the battery type, before inserting the new one. The battery change has to be carried out very quickly (max. 1 up to 2 minutes), as otherwise all data can be lost.

Do not keep the MEMO CARDS inserted in the unit after the usage, but keep them in the enclosed case. Please do not expose the MEMO CARD to high temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight or strong vibrations. Please do not touch the plug side of the MEMO CARD and bring it not next to strong magnetic fields. Please use the label on the MEMO CARD bag in order to quote all .EPand .MP-programs, titles or files, which are stored on the MEMO CARD. Observe the separate MEMO CARD pressure function for printing the index of the MEMO CARD. Besides it is recommendable to use a report sheet with all single data of the index of each MEMO CARD. This applies also for the corresponding spinning- and textile technical adjustments, data and conditions as well as for the production report and so on.

Problems can occur at the delay change slub/support. It is better to choose a higher delay than at normal production, so that a standard delay exists during the slub production. The known manufacturers offer special nep/effect yarn rugs with large opening. A compromise has to be made at the rug selection. A rug being somewhat heavier as the average number of the effect yarn has proved. The effect yarn should not be roughened or become hairy, but the balloon should not scrape against the recommended separators. The limit of the spinning speed results also through the slub formation itself. Unequal slubs arise, if the slub is no more fully developed at a slub formation time of less than 150 milliseconds. Similar spinning technical rules apply for OPEN END devices Type GOE regarding the spinning of the both yarn numbers for bar and slub. The selection of the solve drum, the rotor cross-section and the discharge nozzle is of importance. The surface of the yarn with the known adjustment parameters of the OPEN END machine can be also influenced in the slub. The scope of the rotor still determines the length of the slub. A small rotor is necessary for short slubs. The spinning speed is determined by the rotor speed and the maximum slub frequency, however mostly it can be calculated with the normal production speed.

for re-greasing via lubrication nipple. Filling content is approx. 0.15 up to 0.2 liters. The control interval is approx. every 5000 operating hours or 1 year. Rearrangement parts: The rearrangement parts connect the differential gears with the spinning machine gear. Mostly the complete delay change transmission is delivered again from AMSLER. These dynamical strong loaded gear parts have to be controlled every two weeks and have to be provided with adhesive fat. Oil the chains regularly. The inserted gear belts or chains have to be retightened thoroughly, as they are really important together with the tooth backlash of the retract cylinder drive concerning the rupture strength of the effect yarn. Gear wheels: Grease the external gear wheels every 4 months with the best adhesive fat. Grease a needle bearing via lubrication nipple at the SDE gears. The oil filling should be executed with differential oil such as e.g. SHELL TIVELLA at gears with numbers < 100. Use thin special gear fat of the type e.g. SHELL ALVANIA EP grease R0 at gears with numbers > 100. Gears: Control the total condition of the gear every 5 years.
