SUBJECT: CARRIAGEWAY AND FOOTWAY RESURFACING WORKS ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS CHIEF EXECUTIVE

REPORT BY:

PURPOSE OF REPORT To seek Cabinets approval to carry out the additional carriageway and footway works identified in the attached report. Approval of the report will allow the savings/efficiencies made to the previous revenue and capital allocation to be fully expended. It will also expend and meet the terms of the recent WG Grant awarded in December 2011. To seek Cabinet approval to present the attached report to Full Council.

LINKS TO STRATEGY The report links directly to the regeneration of the county borough making Caerphilly county borough a better place to live. The report links directly to the Councils priority to improve the look and feel of its streets and to make Caerphilly a safer place to live and work.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS The works contained in the attached report are estimated to cost circa 1.05M and funding is available via the efficiencies and savings made from the previous contracts along with the recently awarded WG Grant.

RECOMMENDATIONS That Cabinet agree to utilise the efficiency savings along with the WG Grant to fund the highway works contained in the attached report. That Cabinet approve the attached report to be presented to Council.

REASONS FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS To positively contribute to the maintenance of the Councils biggest asset, namely the highway network and to ensure that the network continues to be maintained in a safe condition.
