I. CURRENT ISSUES AND ANALYSIS POLITICIANS PLANNING TO RUN FOR PRESIDENCY THIS 2010. Many politicians aim for the highest position this coming election and yet some of them are seasoned senators or freshly appointed government officials. They all have different agenda but have one main goal; that is to gain economic growth for the nation and make the Philippines rise up in the midst of trials and competitions. There are a few popular probable politicians running for presidency such as Senator Mar Roxas who became popular with his info commercial padyak that symbolizes the state of the nation that is deep in poverty but he will be the one who will help the poor to reach their dreams. Senator Manny Villar; with his campaign for free housing for the poor and free airfare for the overseas Filipino workers that are being abused by their employers. Villar being poor at first but slowly reached the top of his ambitions by hard work. Mayor Jejomar Binay of Makati also showed interest in running for president saying that in Makati they have free medicines, housing and education for all that it should be also applied in the whole Philippines. And lets not forget former President Joseph Estrada who wants to go back to his old position as the president. And the list continues with the likes of Senator Noli De Castro, Senator Loren Legarda, MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando and so on 1. What political approach is applicable in order to study this piece of Political Puzzle and explain why? - The political approach that is applicable to the issue; politicians planning to run for presidency applies with studying political future because it studies the effects of any political decision made by a government official in the future or in the long run. I chose political future because it studies the possible effects of any political decision, like discussing about the future effects that can affect our government like voting for the next president and other government officials. 2. In what area or field of Political Science does this news fall under and why? - Politicians planning to run for presidency fall under Political Dynamics because there are a lot of concerns in our nation that needs to improve. It varies from economic, social, environmental and educational problems and these issues can affect and influence political decision or action made by a certain government official. 3. And what Methodology will you apply to study this Puzzle and why? - My chosen issue; Politicians planning to run for presidency applies to Analytical method because it answers the questions of Hows and Whys. For example, why

should we vote for a certain candidate and how can we expect and know that they are doing their job and fulfilling their promise to the nation. 4. And what other branches of Social Science is inter-related to this dilemma and explain your answer? - The topic that I chose with Politicians planning to run for presidency reflects the sociology social problems that are also equated to being political problems. We all know that poverty is the main problem in our nation and because of this, many government officials are drawn to heal the land and regain the power of our nation by running for candidacy. When we are faced with social problem like poverty, it also became a political problem that needs to be removed and give attention for the further enhancement of the country. 5. In how and what way will this news event affect the politics in the Philippines and/or the world? Politicians planning to run for presidency will definitely affect the politics here in the Philippines because he will be the one who will make the decisions, fulfill his platform that won the hearts of people and basically because he is the chief and the head of this country. It will also affect the world, because he will be the one who will represent our country, people from other nation s will catch a glimpse of what and who Filipinos are through him and if he is a good man and an efficient leader, there will be a lot of investments in the country that will lead to greater opportunities and economic growth of the Philippines. II. ESSAY: Choose one Field of Social Sciences and explain in your own words how and why it is important to the study of Political Science. - History is important because you will not answer questions regarding to the past events and origins of a state if there is no history because political science deals with the origins and aspects of a state that has connections with the people living within a state and activities that people does. History also has theories that can be used until todays decisions needed in political science. We can also learn from history and looking back can make a big difference because what happens today in the present and in the future will reflect what we have in the roots of our history.
