Happy Holidays to all!

I hope that 2011 has treated you and your family well and youre ready to move on to 2012 and all the wonderful opportunities that it will bring! November has been filled with fun and exciting activities at FHES. November was Be Thankful Month. Students were recognized with eagle feathers for showing their gratitude to others, Mr. Biggers had students sign the be thankful poster in PE, and we all performed the gratitude dance for Mrs. Taylor to record. View this hilarious video by going to: ????? The month of December is Be Caring month. Our staff has organized activities to build a sense of caring for and giving back to each other as well as their local community. About 50 of our students participated in the holiday performance of Oh No! Grannys got the remote. I was able to attend the Sunday afternoon performance and was extremely proud of our FHES students and their performances. Congratulations to all of you who participated in this wonderful community event! A fun and exciting assembly kicked off Decembers I Love to READ: PETS, PAWS, and PALS month. Students were able to meet a local celebrity, Gary Gero. For more than 30 years Mr. Gero has worked with animals of all kinds, including wolves, owls, orangutans, alligators, zebras and flies, for films such as Harry Potter, 101 Dalmatians, Dr. Doolittle, The Indian and the Cupboard and many, many more. In our assembly he shared his passion for animals and books. Our assembly also included a hilarious skit called Book, Book, Book by some of our most talented teachers. Students ended the assembly singing the song Ive got a feelingthis books going to be a good book! A Book Fair and waffle breakfast was held last week. Families visited the book fair and enjoyed delicious Saturday morning waffles made by our amazing parents! Thank you to all who helped and attended this breakfast! All students are reading for minutes, pages, or books to travel the Iditarod trail we have posted in the hallway. Students are trying to get their sled dog to make it to Nome, Alaska which 1100 miles from the start of the trail. Four parents joined me for my 1st Principals Coffee Hour in November. Please mark your calendars for my next on Monday, January 23rd @ 4pm in the Library. Hope to see you there! May you all have a wonderful winter break! Happy Holidays to you all!
