A Study about the effect of the music preference of selected third year and fourth year students, S.Y.

2011-2012 Introduction A. Background of the Study Music is the art of arranging and combining sounds able to produce by human voice or by instrument harmony of vocal or instrumental sounds combined in a pleasing way. It can be exploiting in many aspect of life such as in different occasion. Preference is to choose of one alternative which is a very important factor to consider. Giving ones attention to a sound is customary. Usually students are listening to music. This habit, of listening to music, is one of the fashion that included by most students and teenagers. Particularly, student prefers to listen to music rather than analyzing the previous lesson tackled. It is one way to reminisce the body to relieve pain from stress and relax. It makes students less tense, rest from work, do something relaxing. Thus, the students have prefer different genre of music prefer to be listened. Genre is a style of art or literature. Sometimes classic, sometimes OPM or sometimes love songs. The researcher wants to enumerate the choice or types of music choose by most of the student and the cause of participation and the effects towards their academic performances. B. Statement of the Problem The study will answer the following questions: 1. What are the genres of music that usually preferred by most students? 2. How genre of music does affect the academic performances of selected students? 3. What are the reasons why the student prefers to listen to music rather than to study? C. Objective of the Study 1. Identify the types of music usually chosen by students. 2. Cite the effects of music preference to the academic performances of selected students.

3. Enumerate the reasons why students prefer to listen to music rather that to study. D. Significance of the Study The study about music preference of selected third year and fourth year students, S.Y. 2011-2012 enumerates the causes why students prefer to listen to music rather than to study. The problem will pursue the student to manage time appropriated to music. So, the habit will not affect the academic performance in school. It will benefit to cure the addiction of most students to different kinds of music it will help to acknowledge students about the effect of the problem to the study habit and performances in school. Students will be benefited to this study because it will inform the proper time to listen in music. The findings will also inform the student of the proper time and views in listening to music and study habit. E. Scope and Limitation The scope of the study was bounded to selected third year and fourth year students of Cavite National High School. The information that will gather was delimited inside the campus, when the students have the time to answer the given questionnaire. Though the studies only cover the type of music students listen to. It will only conclude the connection of music to students. Respondents will answer the questionnaire that will gathered by the records of the researcher. The study include the opinion of selected students on the problem.
