Be open-minded This is a catchphrase that is used in many schools. It is something that teachers expect of students, and that is great.

However, it is actually more important that teachers are open-minded. As educators of future generations, we must be open to new ideas and new approaches that challenge our thinking and our practices. We must be ready to let go of things, to experiment and to stay on our toes. We must also take responsibility for modeling this attribute to our students. So, next time something comes up that challenges the way you think or do things, be open to it, consider its pros and cons with an open mind. You never know!
