In this book we tell the tale of their bloody campaign. hen | was younger and first getting into the W 7 by sotne wrenty yeas ago now, avidly read every issue of White Dwar, poring over every beautifully painted miniature, reading every scrap of background and rule, and loving every last word of the battle reports. But there was one type of article that | was sure to read firs, yet return to over and over again, and that ‘was campaign articles. “To this day, [stil remember the very first Studio Mighty Empires campaign, wherein Jervis’ Orc Warboss was ‘captured by High Elves and forced! to wear silk pyjamas (oh the ignominy!) remember the Piscina IV campaign, with the sweeping advance by Andy Chambers’ army of Dark ‘Angels halted by the barbaric Orks, and Nazdreg’s kunnin’ tellyporta attack: and I can vividly recall every tank trap and bbooby-trapped street in the bloody cityfights ofthe Vogen V ‘campaign. These campaigns just seemed like so much fun, spavining tales of great heroism and famous lat stands. Just typing these words brings back fond memories and makes me want to delve into the White Dwar{ archive to find those issues to relive again. ‘So you can probably imagine the excitement | had after joining the White Dwarf tear, when I was frst asked to play in a Studio campaign. And do you know what? it didn’t Gisappoint, and the twists and turns ofthe Rok of Ages, the Return to Armageddon or Jervis! unnamed Warhammer campaign were every bit as fun as the campaigns Vd read about all those years ago. And that's what this book is ~ its a tale of our latest Studio campaign, recording our bloody battles, treacherous facts and heroic deeds, When we set out to play our latest ‘campaign, we gathered as a group and came up with a list ofall the things we wanted to see in a campaign — crusading armies, crazy Storm of Magic games, Warhammer batties with a sense of place and the occasional climactic game that brought everyone together. And what you see here isthe result, a book all about our campaign: First and foremost, this book is meant 0 entertain you with stories of our own exploits, but hopetully it will also inspire you to fight your own campaigns — or atleast aspire t0 one day. To that end we've included the rules that we used, so you can play your own Blood in the Badlands campaign. We've also crammed in as many of the scenarios, spell, magic items and rules for sieges and underground battles as we could so that you can try them fot in your own games. [And hopefully in years to come you'll look back on the Blood in the Badlands campaign fondly too and remember the tales of lit Skybound’s treachery, King Nekhenaten’s tendency to get captured, Stiegtried Schiveinsteigor’s incessant poetry or the moment when Faelar Bladestorm ‘was turned into a Clanrat. "A magus of ancient times who lived when the Empire was still young, all that is teally known about the wizard is gleaned from the only grimoire Fozzrik is known to have authored, On the tome’s dusty [pages — which is now located deep within the vaults of the Grey College, where itis held as an arcane curiosity — Fozzrik wrote ‘of his desice to create buildings that would move from place to place, cutting out the iced for roads; where trade between towns ‘would flourish when they contacted each other - in a quite literal sense ~ and whole cities could take tothe air to traverse dense and dangerous forests or avoid rampaging armies. Even in those more unstable ancient times he was derided as a strange eccentric. Nevertheless Fozzrik’s obsession with creating eldritch architecture continued unabated, The manipulation of stone and the imbuing of buildings with magical energy became is specialty ‘What scholars of arcane history do agree on is that atthe height of his power he retreated into the Badlands and there built. a great fatness with Archimancy. The fortress was as imposing as it was beautiful, and impossible to conquer as a few bandit kings and marauding greenskins found out to lethal cost. But the motives for Fozzrikk creating his castle had yet to be realised Fozzrik began to experiment, using his ‘Archimancy to make buildings mobile, first by folding them in on themselves, to reduce their mass so they could be carried in a pouch or pocket. His real breakthrough was when he concocted a spell that made stone Tighter than air, and so the floating towers cof Fozzrik have been seen intermittently throughout the world ever since. ated hig ies, sowing far bore he i its pte opeing ind its gical ards However it as with is inal Auchimanie Sel that he eed an ene faanas of he ground ead at he rage entered scale an took ight, nos olnd agains etl row tegen! tas hl onze Pin Fastness has spent the last illum toarng ores fhe wore appasng only ret scam loclesto ther ysl reac and port tli The motes, ier dongs ein unclear bu any row suspect tat the Contests fhe ying Fass re probably he greatest collection fertchantquits i ar be assembled ‘Wht mary have edt plot te couse of tr ying Tastnest over the ears, no doubt wih larceny in mind none Rove txer been succes Gut hat coud be Sheu change The Flying fasness has fered tothe Badlands sd tangs wihita geal magia tempest the duguris re tobe oleved tis sald that Fors spel is coming tan end.
