INTRODUCTION
.
The ore field "CYP DEVELOPMENT PROJECT" is made up of three mining
concessions , that in their totality reach 2000 HA .This field is located in the districts
of Yanaca and Pocohuanca, in the province of Ayamares, Department of Apurimac,
Peru.
The poly-metal and auriferous "CYP DEVELOPMENT PROJECT" field has strong
values in Cu, Pb, Mo, Nor, Zn and Au .It is located in the mining district of
Apurimac, place that has a remarkable mining activity (exploration and
exploitacion) in which 37 important mining companies are in full activity.
The mining companies that at the moment are exploiting are Xtrata, Hochschild,
Southern Peru Copper Corporation, in addition to others like Minera Antares,
Buenaventura Co, Beer Creek Mining Co, Alturas Mineral, Andes Resource, Ares,
Newmont Peru, Rio Tinto Mining, Aguilas American, Minera Meridan, Peñoles del
Peru that are in phase of exploration.
The area of the deposit is in the quadrangle of Chalhuanca (29-p,the one that is
located in the Central South part of Peru) includes sedimentary high plateaus with
geologic formation of the Jurasic-Cretacic period ,volcanic units of the Neogen,
intrusions with plutonic rocks (from intermediate to acid) of the Tertiary period that
have been affected by the Andean Tectonics.
The presence of the intrusive igneous rocks is the main cause of the occurrence of
mineral bases Cu and Au (Pb, Ag, Zn).
From the structural point of view a predominant element is the fault of Mollebamba,
fault that attributes the location of sub-volcanic bodies, that are bound to the
distribution of the poly-metallic mineralization of the area.
In the south the area wich name is Piste incurs the sedimentary dominion of the
faults.
The anomaly of Cascabamba that dominates the North area of the Deposit denotes
in its geo-chemical contrast strong values in Au, Zn ,Ag, Pb.
In the South area we have igneous structures very near the “Piste” formation with
strong gold anomalies.

STRENGTHS OF THE PROJECT

• Today the Southern Copper Perú Corporation is exploiting a concession in

the South west of our concession, and they are as well in phase of
exploration in the north part of their concession . Our mining concessions
are closed to this important mining company which has several
concessions in the place, being zone where are located their copper
mining project "Los CHANCAS" declared of "National Interest" by the
present government (investment 1000 million dollars).
• In the west of the C&P concessions are located the concessions of "
YACIMIENTO AURIFERO YANACA " with the respective concessions of
" AMANECER 2003", " AMANECER I" "2003, AMANECER 2004" and "
AMANECER 2005
• The TRANSOCEANICA HIGHWAY will impulse the mining development
of Apurimac and will grant a greater added value to the projects
bordering to this route for it will allow to obviously decrease the costs of
transport in the exploration and exploitation phases. The CYP project is
very few kilometers far of this important high way. (see map).
• Keeping good and constant social and friendship relations with the
authorities of the farmers community of Yanaca and Chanta, that are
neighbors .
• The existence of two lagoons in the concession (Condorhuayhua and
Pararcocha) assures the supplying of water for the future projects.

GEOMORPHOLOGY
The study area is in the Eastern slope of the Western Mountain cordillera of
Peruvian Andes, it is formed by a mountain range denominated Cordillera of the
Huanzo, due to its system of draining that empties to the great rivers that
derive towards the Atlantic Ocean. Within this panorama the more important
geomorphologic characteristic is of the one of a great Andean plain located
between 3.800 and 4500 m..

The Puna surface, that as a result of the modeller geologic agents, appears
like a rough topography, with deep canyon valleys. There run the greater rivers,
that deeply dig these valleys. On the 4.600 to 4.800 m. is appraised a series of
pics such as the Suparaura, Crushes, Cucchi and Aucapampa, that easily
surpass the 5.000 m. The present zone has a very rough geomorphology with
presence of deep canyons.

REGIONAL GEOLOGY
In the studied area, the stratigraphic column consists of litho-stratigraphic units
with ages that go from the Jurassic to the recent Quaternary, with an
approximated thickness of 8.000 m.

LOCAL GEOLOGY
In the locality of Chuquibambilla the outcrops are located in the ravines Cotro
and Majeruire, affluents of the Chuquibambilla river, such as in the Chancara,
Jurajasa and Yuracjaja hills. The base is made of dark grey sandy rocks
occasionally clear and reddish, with grain thickness from fine to medium.
In the superior part of this unit there are lutites together with sands and
limestone clear gray. All this litologic sequence is very folded.
In the area this unit appears in two sectors. First one extends like a strip from
the proximities of the locality of Chalhuanca extending towards the East to
Pachaconas, forming a series of tight anticlines and sinclinales , with faults
introduced by sub-volcanic bodies of andesític and dacític nature, as well as by
intrusive bodies of granodiorític and tonalític composition as it can be seen in
the areas of Pachaconas.
The other sector in consideration is in the South Eastern end of the quadrangle,
constituting flanks of valleys of the rivers Chalhuanca and Cotaruse. These
outcrops are also folds and form tight anticlines and sinclinales with faults in
direction NO-SE. Similar outcrops extend in the Caraibamba river, affluent by
the right margin of the Chalhuanca river. In this place this formation is exposed
in the left margin and forms nuclei of asymmetric anticlines and sinclinales.
Their suprajacent and infrajacent contacts are concordant with the formation
Soraya and Piste respectively. The thickness of the Chuquibambilla Formation
is variable, in some sectors it exceeds the 600 m of thickness as it is observed
in the north of Chalhuanca.

GEOLOGICAL MAP

The occurrence of Skarn occurs with the contact of the intrusive rock with the
Chuquibambilla formation (group YURA).
In the concession there are :
• Two lagoons : PARARCOCHA and CONDORHYAHUA

LITOGRAPHY
In the area arise intrusive and sedimentary rocks. first they are monzonites and
grano-diorites. The sedimentaries are limestone and lutites. The intrusive rocks
type monzonitic porphyries are of rosaceous white color with argillaceous
alterations and they take a reddish color (North area) due to the presence of
oxidized ferromagnesos.
There are silicificated granodiorites of great dimensions and that intrude in
limestones, giving origin to a meta-somatic location.
Other small intrusions of disc and apophyses form exist with intermediate
composition that cut to the apophyses that are of Chuquibambilla composition.
The sedimentary rocks are represented by gray and black limestones formation
Piste (South area), lutites and gray limestone of the formation Chuquibambilla.
The intrusive rocks present intense ruptures .
There we find the main mineralized structures.

STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY

From the structural point of view. The whole structure result of a great part of
the geologic time defining, with its systems of fractures, the actual structures
that are oriented in direction NW -SE, wich suggest that to the East exists
structural systems oriented in direction NE -SW due to the deflection of
Abancay, that is an obvious tectonic accident. Later three main phases of
deformation took place in inferior Miocene, superior Miocene and in the
Miocene-Pliocene limit (Andean Tectonic).
These are traduced as a complex series of systems of pre-existing faults that
cut rocks of the Yura Group and the Ferrobamba Formation; until getting to
have its present position.
An important structural element is the Mollebamba fault (superior Cretace
aged and located between the quadrangles of Chalhuanca and
Antabamba) , that covers approximately 100 km, oriented NNW-SSE that goes
between 60° and 70° of West longitude( for as far as it could be attributed to this
fault the location of the sub-volcanic bodies and that these would be bound to
the mineralization of Cu, Pb, Zn and Au)

Neighboring deposit at West side of C&P
The Amanecer Deposit is important within the scope of Economic Geology
because it is neighboring to the CYP deposit.
In the mining district of Yanaca, the following mineralized structures with
variable copper and gold contents have been recognized. According to the type
of structures, it is composed of veins, stockwork and skarn.
Eastern Area. – Composed by the Aceroma vein that shows a length of 100 m
by 0.5m wide of outcrop with the following grade: 6,34 gr. Au/TM, 0,04 oz Ag/TM
and 0.01% Cu .
Central Area. - It includes to stockwork and veins that are at the South and SW
of the mentioned structures. The results are:

Width Length Depth gr Au / TM

Vein A 0.42 70 25 8.29
Vein B 0.30 10 5 13.29

Stockwork. - With a length of 120 m and a wide one of 70 m. it indicates the

following grade: 0.70gr Au/TM; 0,05 oz Ag/TM; 0,01% Cu and with a potential of
2 MM TM.
West Area. - Includes the veins in the Oscochigua ravine and the zone where
the skarn is located:
- In the sector of the Oscochigua ravine an outcrop of 50m of length by 0.6m
width with following grade : 8 gr. Au/MT; 2,0 oz Ag/MT and 0,06% Cu.
- In the sector of skarn that includes an approximated area of 25000 ms, exist
a potential of 6,9 MM MT with following grades :0.36 gr. Au /MT; 0,13 oz Ag/MT
and 0,48% Cu.
The Yanaca project exhibits thin vetiform structures of quartz and limited
extension making possible to consider a 60.000 potential of Metric Tons with 8
gr./MT.

POTENTIAL OF THE C&P CONCESSIONS

• The mineral potential is the one that can geologically be inferred, it

cannot be assured a precise tonnage neither the grades , but it exists
sufficient information to estimate the presence of these minerals. The
criteria used in the estimation of the potential are based on the geologic
experience and the knowledge of the structures.

• The CYP fields present high values in the distribution of Au, Pb, Zn, As,
Ag, Mo, Cu. According to the sediment geochemistry (INGEMMET 2002-
STUDY OF the MINERAL RESOURCES Of the PERU STRIP N° 2).

• The predominant mineralization is controlled by the predominant

structural system and is characterized by presenting a dissemination of
minerals of Cu-Mo with values of Au and veins inter-crossed with
quartz.(EVALUATION IMPACTO-ENVIRONMENTAL 2000-SOUTHERN
PERU)

• In the deposit of C&P, in the western area exist mineralized structures,

with quartz-hematite veins, limonite in argillaceous zones , the structures
have south-western direction with 0,02% Cu, 1,56 Au gr/MT. In the
South-western zone exist cavernous quartz structures, limonite hematite
with 0,03% Cu and 13,48 Au gr. /MT.(CIA. ARGENT 1991-PROSPECTO
YANACA).

• The Cascabamba anomaly has influence to the north of the concession,

it presents good results in Au, Zn and As from the point of view of the
prospection. (INGEMMET 2002- STUDY OF The MINERAL
RESOURCES Of the PERU BORDER N° 2).

• The location of the concessions and the information of geology let think
about the probable occurrence of a Skarn in the Chuquibambilla
formation in contact with the intrusion. (GEOCHEMICAL PROSPECTION

OF THE CUADRANGLE OF CHALHUANCA 29-P, INVENTORY OF

MINERAL RESOURCES 2002, YVAN HURTADO GUERRERO)

• The presence of the fault lets think about the probable occurrence of
other structures in the same direction but of smaller grade which could
be type of veins.

• Apurimac in the next years appears to be an important mining district and

at the moment important inversion is done by mining companies .
