A Father of the fatherless - Psalm 68:5-6

Please note: This following short topical (sermon) message only applies to Christians, as those who are believers, automatically possess the Triune God, as their Heavenly Father. Consequently, those who are "unregenerate" and, unbelieving, are "children of wrath" [Ephesians 2:1-10] As the Scripture says: ".....God is angry with the wicked every day." This year (again), Fathers Day will be celebrated in US Christian churches. Preached from pulpits will be familiar and similar messages about the Scriptural and societal importance of fathers to their families. However, few sermon messages will [ever] focus on how the Triune God is father to those believing souls who never experienced any temporal (earthly) fathers physical presence and love, or to those whose fatherly presence and influence was abruptly cut short by either desertion, divorce or death. The Old Testament Hebrew Scripture speaks of God as being "a father of the fatherless:"
A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:5

But even when Christian believers who are fatherless are not befriended and loved by Christian believers, the God who uttered this Biblical promise will fulfill it to his believing children. Those fatherless disciples of Christ, who

believe Gods promises, will reap His spiritual presence and help and also, benefit with temporal (earthly) blessings. God does not lie. His promises are gold to those who believe! When God says that He will be a father of the fatherless, He intends to take the place of ones earthly father and protect His own children. [Please take note of the Scriptural references following this short topical message]. This Christian emeritus pastor has witnessed (in his lifetime) the fulfilled promise of God when He says:
God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity. Psalm 68:6

Allow me to give you a for instance. Many of those who have lost their fathers at an early age are blest to know and experience the love and care of their grandfathers. Those who marry, come into families where they receive many blessings, among whom, are, fathers-in-laws. Certainly, nothing can diminish the (almost) devastating emotional feelings of loss which a child [son or daughter] experiences, knowing that he [or she] will never know and experience the love and parental care of a deceased father. But, as our Heavenly Father, the Lord will not abandon His [believing] children. He notes their tears of sorrow [Psalm 56:8] and He continues to be the all [even more] important, heavenly [spiritual] father, of which relationships, is the most cherished relationship that a person can ever experience. To those of you children of God, who are fatherless, those of you who have experienced the recent or past loss of

their young or elderly fathers do not curse, but count your blessings! Cherish the precious and priceless experience of being the Heavenly Fathers own dear child. And, practice what the Scripture states:
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Know that for a physical and spiritual reality, your Heavenly Father will not abandon you:
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"
