THE MAKING OF MODERN MINIMALIST INTERIOR DESIGN

By: Leo D. Valenzuela

Software used: Google Sketchup Pro 8, Vray for Sketchup ( Vray Core 1.49.01) Adobe Photoshop CS3

MODELING
After long hours of modeling my 3d interior design, here is the finished 3d model with texture.

Now that Im done with modeling and texturing, I can now proceed to setting the lighting in my scene. This is the one of the most important part if you want to achieve a good realistic rendering and howthe lighting creates shadows in the scene you want by using Shadow Setting tool in sketchup.

Now Im satisfied with result of my lighting, I will proceed now to my camera setting and create the some Scene which is good for you.

INTERIOR LIGHTING SET UP

In this scene I used IES file for the lightings.

Pin Light Setting

Place the IES in light fixture and slightly face it to wall

RENDER OPTION
My rendering engine is Vray for Sketchup core 1.49.01. This is the render setting I usually used when it comes to my interior rendering. This setting is based on the default setting. I just change the other parameter to create my own setting. This setting is faster in rendering, but have a nice results.

POST PRODUCTION
This is my workflow in Post-production and I use Photoshop Cs3 in photo enhancement. I learned this by visiting some forums and downloading some tutorial about photo enhancement. I hope you enjoy this. Image below is my rendered image saved in jpg format .as you can see its need some adjustment, specially in lighting effects, contrast and etc.

Adjust now the brightness and contrast of your render image. Click the background image layer and hit CTRL+M (curves) just like the image below.

Now we proceed on how to add some lighting effects in to light fixture. Using Brush Tool select one of brushes you want to use, just like the image below.

After adding lighting effects, now I want the colors of my image to be livelier, we can now proceed to color balancing. Hit CRTL+B, under tone balance, click the Shadows. Then try to play the colors (this depends on your taste) just like the image below.

Hit CTRL+M (curves) again to add contrast and brightness in the image. 1.4

Adding Vignette on your image adds drama and makes it more photo realistic First, duplicate the image layer and put it in above the image layer, then adjust the brightness and contrast. After that use eraser tool and erase the part you dont want to be darken to create
