Recruitment is the process of searching application for specific positions to be filled in the organization.

It is a process of searching for and pooling of applications for jobs and that the right people may get selected. FACTORS:-An organization frequently indulges in the process of recruitment, several factors are responsible for employees to get attracted to an organization and file their applications. Size of the organizations Compensation packages Career advancement programs Image of the organization Geographical location Recruitment policy CHALLENGES: Nature of job Polices of recruitment Availability of skill in the labor market Labor laws Sources of recruitment INTERNAL SOURCES:-Many times organizations look within their own setup for suitable candidates. This may take various forms like promotions form within employees, previous applicants etc. PROMOTIONS FROM WITH IN:- Often organizations call for recruitment at the entry level only. To fill the vacancies in the middle and top categories promotions from within policy is followed. EMPLOYEE REFERRAL:- Some companies encourage their employees to recommend suitable candidates when an opportunity arises. Thus some known candidates get recruited into the organizations. FORMER EMPOLOYEES:- This method reduces the burden of socialization. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS:- This is considered as internal sources as we look for other source of recruitment.

EXTERNAL SOURCES:- There are several methods of external recruitment Walk-in/write-in:- The most popular method and widely used is the walk-in and writein method. Here the candidates submit their applications in reception or front office for

the management to consider. It is a direct method and the management has first hand information about the candidate. Advertising:- It is another common method in recruitment. A company can decide to give an advertisement, small or large in a newspaper, television channel or in any other media, internet. Campus recruitment:- It is yet another popular method. Many MNC and private companies visit technical and management institutions and recruit candidates. Professional associations:- Some times recruitment to some higher positions in technical and professional areas takes place through professional association. Electronic Recruiting:- An organization can choose from the various methods available and each has its own advantages. Employment exchanges, Employment agencies and Military. RECRUITMENT PRACTICES IN INDIA:- In India there is no single method that is being followed by the companies. According to research study the following practices were employed in the public and private sector organizations to recruit their employees. IN PUBLIC SECTORS: Employment exchange Advertisements Internal sources(through promotion and transfer) Casual employment seekers Displaced persons Employment relatives and friends

IN PRIVATE SECTOR: Advertisements Employment exchanges Relatives and friends of existing employees and their recommendations Internal sources through promotion and transfers Casual callers As regards recruitment practices in the government organizations, they follow, by and large, public recruitment policies viz., employment exchanges in recruiting lower-level semi-skilled jobs. These are filled either through promotion from internal sources or through deputation from other organizations. Cadre build vacancies such as IAS, IFS, PS etc., are filled through competitive examinations through advertisement.
