Management Aptitude Test -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What is MAT?

MAT is the MBA entrance test conducted country-wide by Centre for Management Services (CMS) of All India Management Association (AIMA). It is usually conducted four times in a year in February, May, September and December. MAT is conducted in all major cities in the country and in leading cities abroad. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is an entrance exam conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admission to the post graduate management courses throughout various management institutes in the country. Through MAT management aspirants can get admission in to a very large number of management institutes throughout the country. Therefore MAT is very popular among the management aspirants. One can say that MAT is to post graduate management courses as AIEEE is to undergraduate engineering courses. MAT is conducted four times a year. Next MAT entrance would be conducted in September 2010 and scores will be valid in all the management institutes for admission in 2011. Earlier MAT was a paper based test but from next time the candidates will have an option to either give MAT as a paper based test or an online test. This is approved as National Entrance Test for the admission in to MBA and equivalent programs under the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development whose leer no. is f.17- 8 / 2002 TS. 1 dated 2nd last week of June 2004. All India Management Association was founded in the year 1957. It is a unique body of management with more than thirty thousand individual members, about three thousand institutional members and more than fifty local management association across the India and World. AIMA creates an apex body of professional management with active support of the Indian Government. The eligibility criteria for the Management Aptitude Test are that the candidates should have graduation degree in any of the discipline from a recognized University. At Present the cost of a MAT bulletin is Rs.650/- by cash across the AIMA, New Delhi counter/ Select UTI Bank branches/ AIMA Nodal Centres all over India and Rs.690/- against Demand Draft (DD) by post. DD should be made in favor of AIMA-CMS, payable at New Delhi. Q. What is the validity of MAT score? A. Validity of the MAT score is for that particular session for most Management Institutes, but for AIMA-CMEs PGDM & PGDITM programmes, the score is valid for one year. Do we get a separate Admit Card for appearing in MAT? A. Candidate has to download his/her admit card from aima website 7 days before the Test Date with the registration form number. A. Yes, MAT is necessary for admission into PGDM / equivalent programmes offered by AIMA or other MIs who participate in it. Q. How to Apply Online for MAT? A student may apply online either through Credit Card/Debit Card or Demand Draft. Certain details of credit card or demand draft are required while registering online. The candidates while paying through card are required to pay fees of Rs.1750/-(One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty only). Candidate can avail an early discount of Rs.100/- (i.e. pay only Rs.1650/-) by registering on or before 31 December 2010. The candidates while paying through card can draw a Demand Draft for Rs.1750/- (Rs One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty only) in favor of All India Management Association Payable at New Delhi, before submission of the Application. Test Venues for Paper-Pencil (Offline) Test and Computer Based Test (Online Test) are different. If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test (Online Test) is few/limited, these candidates appears for the paper-Pencil Test on first Sunday of the test month only. One candidate can appear only for one date for the MAT. Q. Do we get a separate Admit Card for appearing in MAT? All provisionally registered candidates can down load their Admit Card from AIMA website link: www.aima-ind.org/matcentre.asp 7 days before the test date. Specific Admit Card will be generated both for the candidates opted for the Paper-Pencil (Offline Test) and for the Computer Based Online Test. Admit Card would be having Candidate Name, Form No, Roll NO, Test Date, Test Time and Test Venue Address. Candidate has to strictly follow the date and time allotted to them in the case of Computer Based Online Test. This Admit Card contains Test Centre Address with Center Code, Form No and Roll no of the test. No separate special card is issued. Also, activation of a test centre depends upon the minimum no of registration.

Q. Is there any difference between Computer Based Online Test and Paper-Pencil Offline Test? Computer Based Online test means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate submits the answers through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil based test, which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. MAT is offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. Online Entrance Test assumes that the candidate has basic familiarity with use of computers like use of keyboard and mouse operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing in the test and AIMA cannot take responsibility for the same. In traditional PaperPencil Test, Candidate is supposed to bring Pen, HB-Pencils, Erasers and Sharper with him/her whereas the Question Paper and OMR Answer Sheet is provided at the Test Centre. Q.
