Executive Summary
The Objective...
VocaListenerRadioProjectwascreatedtoaidinthediscoveryandpromotionof Vocaloidmusicinthewest.Itisawaytoexposefans,bothexperiencedannew,tonew musictheymightnothavefoundthemselves,thusaidinginmusicdiscovery,expansion ofoneshorizons,andpromotionofnewartists.Vocaloidisnotsomuchagenre,buta mediumofexpressionandthroughradiowehopetoemphasizethewidevarietyof musiccreatedthroughVocaloid.

The Goals...
ThegoalsofVocaListenerRadioare: ProvidealargevarietyofVocaloidmusicprogramming. ProvideliveDJsandinteractiveprogrammingforlisteners. Providehighqualityprerecordedprogrammingsyndication.

The Execution...
VocaListenerRadiowillhaveaccesstoawidevarietyofmusicthroughamultipronged licensingschemeincludingdirectlicensesnegotiatedwithproducersandtheirlabels, creativecommonslicensedworks,andcompulsorystatutorylicensedworks. TheliveDJswillconsistofavolunteerstaffonatimelinebasedonconvenience scheduling.LiveDJswillbegivenaccesstothebroadcastserverandwillbeabletotake overthestreamandinteractwiththeaudiencethroughonsitechatandcallinsystem. Wewillalsohavescheduledprogramsyndication,teamingupwithexistingVocaloid communitiestoproducepodcaststhatcanlaterberesyndicatedaspartof VocaListenersregularradioprogramming.

VocaListenerwillbebuiltonexistingV.O.C.A.Networkinfrastructurewithroomfor additionalresourcesandexpansioninthefuture.AtitscoreisourNewJersey,USA basedVirtualPrivateServerrunningWHMSonic&SHOUTcastStreamingTechnology. WHMSonicisaSHOUTcastadministrationplatformthatallowsforbroadcastserver administration,advancedAutoDJ&playlistadministration,andinternetradio implementation. SHOUTcastisacrossplatformmediastreamsoftwaredevelopedbyNullsoft&AOLthat allowsfordigitalaudiocontent,primarilyMP3orACCstobebroadcasttoandfrom mediaplayersoftware,enablingthecreationofInternetradiostations. InitiallytheVPSwillbeabletosupportupto25simultaneouslistenersbutcanbe expandedtoamaximumof50listenersatoncebeforeadditional,morespecialized serversneedtobeadded.

Tofilloursecondaryplaylistakanonpreferredtrackswewillapproachvarious Vocaloid&indierecordlabelsandseekdirectlicensingdealsconcerningtheirmusicand theirartists.Thiswillincludes(butisnotlimitedto)InternetIndependent,U/M/A/A, KarenTandBalloomamongstothers. Ourlicensingmethodoflastresortisthestatutorycompulsorylicenseofferedbythe U.S.CopyrightOfficethroughSoundExchange.Thiscompulsorylicenseallowsforthe useofANYcommerciallyreleasedmusic,forthepurposesofonlineradio,aslongasyou areregisteredwithSoundExchange,dodetailedreportingonyouroperations,andare willingtopayapprox.$0.0001persong,perlistener,inroyalties. ThedisadvantageofSoundExchangeisthatitisreallybiastowardU.S.interests,itis extremelyhardfornonRIAAlabelsandnonEnglishspeakingartiststoclaimthe royaltiescollectedbySoundExchangeontheirbehalf. AfterlisteningtoinitialfeedbackfromthecommunitywehavedeterminedweNEVER wanttohaveadvertisementsontheradiostreamitself.Downtheroadwemayaccept sponsorshipsfornewradioserversandthankoursponsorsonair,orputadsonthe websitebutwewillNEVERselladsaspartofthestream.

Affiliate Marketing
Ourprimarymeansofrevenuegenerationwillbethroughaffiliatemarketing.Onour homepagewewillhaveawidgetshowingtheNowPlayingandRecentlyPlayedon oursidebar.ThiswidgetwillalsoincludeAmazonMP3andiTuneslinksforourlisteners topurchasethemusicforthemselvesiftheylikeit. Amazonoffersa10%commissiononallMP3referralsandthroughRakutensLinkShare affiliatemarketingnetworkwecanalsogainavaryingcommissionforeachlistenerwe directtoApplesiTunesaswell.
