KENTs Top 10 (AlphAbETicAl) 13 Assassins My Best Foreign Language Film of the year. Stylish, dangerous, action-packed and bloody, this gem has it all. Anonymous Beautiful, dramatic, epic coupled with wonderful costumes and sets, add dripping soliloquies and this classy film strikes a nerve. Blackthorn One of the most beautiful films of the year. This fictional account of Butch Cassidys later life is sad, poignant and emotional. The Descendants Clooney at his best as a hurt husband, confused father and average Joe. The serene landscapes balance the harsh emotions on display my top film of the year.

Melancholia This dark, contemplative masterwork indulges itself, challenges the audience and then begs its patience. Viewers who submit are tremendously rewarded for their faith. Of Gods and Men This serene film examines the hearts of eight French monks in Algeria and shows how they face the fears that threaten a higher purpose.

Drive Drive Harkening back to an old school down and dirty yarn, this tale of vengeance follows a man with no name, and will subtly grab you by the collar. Moneyball This lighter fare is never the less just as riveting as some of the darker films above. Pitts great performance may finally get noticed. The Tree of Life This stunning, deeply philosophical, emotionally driven film is a slice of Americana that cant be matched, a must see for those with a little patience. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Another old school feature whose great acting performances fuel a more deliberate plot. Snuggle up to this one with a partner and a tasty snack. War Horse Spielbergs epic is not about war, but hope. This true story follows a horse through WWI from cavalry charges to trench warfare for a rare emotional experience.
