Belief in God does not equate to morally right or wrong, it is just the belief in a supreme being.

There are many on this earth that believe in a god of one form or another and do horrible things in the name of that god, does that make them morally correct? Are we as a society to accept the condemnation of people purely on the aspect that they do not believe in your god?

There are many here in the Philippines that declare the godless to be without morals and in turn corrupt and vile. They reference their dogmatic writings as evidence for this. So because of this lack of belief I am perceived to be a vile entity and an agent of Satan out to corrupt the world. Yet I have stepped up and defended my country, I have given to charity, I have the less fortunate and assisted in the rescue and relief efforts of a massive disaster, yet I am immoral due to my lack of faith. I find this as a rather odd outlook, for the ones condemning me are the ones wearing extravagant clothing with embroider gold while their followers starve, they live in lavish homes with private security and personal drivers and maids, while their followers suffer in stagnant squalor praying for any help they can find. How am I the immoral one when I wish to assist those in squalor, when I spend hours thinking of different ways we can do things as a society to improve everyones lot in life. No I do not possess the financial means to fund these ventures and that is why I submit my ideas freely to congressmen and representatives as well as to this countries very presidents email. But remember, I am the immoral one.

I stand before a crowd and see hundreds scraping by on almost nothing, sometimes not eating for a day or more because they lack the money for food, and yet their local parish does not have a soup kitchen to at least provide a daily meal for their followers. I watch as those same people resort to theft, and worse just to survive and then ask for forgiveness from their god that offers no help in their plight. I see them in church praying for help, love, kindness, anything really and never do you see their prayers answered. Never do you see their church step forth and say Here, have this loaf of bread so that you may eat. No, their priest tells them they just dont have enough faith and that is why they are not being heard, or that it is their gods plan to have them starve and suffer. It is their gods plan to let them watch their child die of some curable disease that they cannot afford the treatment for. It is their gods plan to let them led a life full of sadness and misery, for that is being moral. Believing in a god and suffering while those that preside over that belief relax in luxury.

I do not speak of these things as a long term resident; I immigrated to this country to appease my wife, for I was originally born in America and raised bouncing around the world. I have seen these same things in every single country. These people claiming the moral high ground due to having a faith or some sort. In every situation those same people can be found watching as their followers suffer and they do nothing, they side idly by as their followers endure pain and torment and the offer not help but a smile. How can this be seen as moral and right. How can you stand there and witness others suffer and hold your tongue, how can you stand there and watch someone tormented and not wish to help them in

any way possible. Many accuse me of being a cold hearted person due to my realistic view on this world. I do not see it as black and white, I understand and accept that not everyone can be helped, nor can everyone be saved. But, we can make the attempt, we can stop sitting there watching others suffer in the name of some ill conceived faith and lend them a helping hand. Be it a sum of money so they can afford that ride home from the menial job that barely lets them eat or a pair of shoes so their children do not run around bare foot on the rocks. Simple kindness and generosity is what I would like to see from the common followers of these supposedly moral faiths, but I do not.

You do have some that help, but they are not the constant they are the exception to the rule. With a majority of the times they do offer help being restricted to only those of the congregation in good standing. The dirty, foul tempered man that regularly attends mass will see no kindness from the wealthier inside, never mind that his foul temper is bred from his constant suffering, and his dirty appearance spawned from his lacking of funds to even buy second hand clothes. So please do tell me where this moral high ground comes from? Those of the Judeo-Christian faiths sight scripture as being the reason they have morals, in that case let me go write a book stating that everything I say is infallible and is the law, and then I guess I would be able to use that as my proof. Oh wait that would have me laughed off as a maniacal egocentric twit. But apparently that is sufficient proof for the faiths of this world. Too bad that is not sufficient proof to me; I ask that they please display their morality, their generosity, and their giving natures. I implore them to show what they have done for their own followers to aid them in their time of need. I demand that they stop hoarding their wealth and share it with those whom they have taken it from in tithes and donations. Vatican City is one of the wealthiest countries on this planet and yet the Philippines Catholics suffer massively with insufficient food, clothing, housing, and education.

How is this even remotely possible, with the Vatican net worth to be around one billion US Dollars. Must be those morals, the ones saying keep all your money and never give to those that look to you for guidance. This is but one small thing in this massive debate between theist and atheist, a simple aspect of morals. I believe in the concepts of right and wrong, but I do not put stock in good and evil. Those things are transient in every way, but there are things that are just by nature always wrong and always right. The murder of another is not excusable period; there is never a reason for it no matter what. The protection of family and friends is just inherently right, it benefits all and detracts from none. Those are just two examples of things that are right and wrong, the list of the rest would take pages and I wont bother you with that. Now the aspects of good and evil, those are the concepts that trigger a large amount of the vitriol towards atheist from all theist.

For most are taught that those that do not believe in their faith are evil, yet according to that every single living thing on this planet would then be evil in one way or another. No exceptions, no way out you are evil period. If you believe in the Jewish dogma then you are evil according to Islam and

Christian faiths, and vice versa. And before you claim that the Jews were the chosen spoken of in the Christian bible remember that it required those Jews to accept Jesus as the messiah for that to be true otherwise they are non-believers and evil, and on general Jewish people do not believe Jesus was a messiah so yeah, evil. So if everyone is evil according to the mindset of faith, then what about according to the mindset of someone absent of faith. Do I find those of religious belief to be vile and in need of reprimand and condemnation? No, if I did then I would not be married to my wife who is Catholic, nor would I spend time with half of my friends and family due to them as well being of one denomination or another. So now we are in an odd situation, Religion sets firm guidelines for good and evil and with the use of the worlds religions we confirm, according to them, that everything on the planet is evil. But, with a rational logical thought path, not involving any religious guidance, we see the world as not evil or good, it just exists without a bias.

That is the thing I feel a lot of these religious people do fear and that is the fact that they are unimportant in the universe. Humanities ego just does not seem to enjoy the thought that they have absolutely no value outside of to their immediate friends and family. That twenty year old man in Cebu that just got drunk and met a girl, means absolutely nothing to me in one way or another, but yet to him and his mindset he is the most important thing on this earth. And with religion it tells you this is true, that God made you special and unique, one of a kind in the universe. That truly appeals to a human psyche, and feeds their desire for egocentricity. And that same book tells them that they are not only special but they are on the side of good, and morals, and God as long as they believe. Well that does not sound so bad, till you start looking at the details of the agreement. And no I am not saying the cheery picked Jesus loves you believe, or Allah loves you or Yahweh loves you, I am talking about every single thing. Let us just take a quick glance at the Catholic aspect since that is the predominate religion here; So we have slavery, polygamy, stoning, rape, selling of daughters, women not allowed to speak/teach, killing of homosexuals, Jesus loves you, God will punish you forever if you disobey/do not worship him, Jesus forgives you of your sins to some degree unless you disavow him/disbelieve in him, and that is not even a tenth of what is all in there.

Now remember that is all the aspects of being moral, of being good. You or I believing that Homosexuality is a natural genetic thing since it was proven by science is wrong, believing that all animals on this planet including ourselves evolved is wrong and in turn these things are evil, and immoral. So in closing I just ask, can one follower of any religion that believes they hold the moral high ground purely because of believe in some god, explain to me without using their dogma why they are morally superior to me.
