UNIT-I Concept of EVS (Science) Meaning, Nature and Scope of EVS science as a curricular area at the primary level. Curriculum organization: EVS as an integrated area of study that draws upon understanding from science/social science and environment education. EVS as EVS science and EVS social science. UNIT-II Understanding EVS (Science) Instructional objectives of teaching EVS (Science) at primary stage in terms of cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain Scientific Attitude and Scientific method. (Note: This chapter is still under construction. As soon as we finish it we will e-mail the contents. till then kindly refer to the book: Teaching of Science by S.K. Mangal available in the DIET library) . UNIT-III Classroom transaction. Mehtodology of teaching EVS (Science) Child Central Activities Based Problem Solving . ( Note: Still in Typing phase) Process skills in EVS (Science) Observing, Grouping , measuring, communicating and reading.

To help student- teacher understand the scope of science and internalize different perspective of curriculum organization

To prepare pupil teachers to plan for and carryout classroom transaction in the light of various theoretical / practical view points of learning. To know and use different pedagogies to transact the curriculum in a manner that enhances curiousity of children to enquire about scentific and social phenomenon and develops their capacities to reflect on the existing
society, its instructions and practices in a critical independent and thoughtful manner. To help pupil teachers select and use appropriate teaching learning assessment strategies. To prepare pupil teachers to assess childrens learning using different pathways. UNIT-IV Assessment Purpose of assessment. Planning assessment. Assessment tools. Evaluation of performance. To built skills together interpret and analysis data. UNIT-V Content enrichment and analysis. Study and analysis of text books of EVS science 3rd and 4th class. Preparation of unit plan and lesson plan. Preparation of teaching learning material. Preparation and demonstration of activities, projects, assignments, field visits etc. Analysis of Text book of Science in terms of continuity in syllabus , content etc. Group discussion, assignments. Preparation of lesson plans, TLM and activities by pupil teachers individually or in small groups. Documentation of activities individually.
