- THEFT OF 30 Kg SILVER @ SAI BABA TEMPLE IN HYDERABAD`A.

P 27th Dec`2011 Burglars struck at the Sai Baba temple situated in Vijayapuri Colony Phase -I, Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, during the early hours of Monday 26th Dec`2011 and decamped with Silver articles weighing about 30 kg. According to the police the miscreants entered the Sai Temple through the windows by dislodging the Iron grills between 03:00 am & 04:00 am and took away valuables worth about Rs.15 lakh by stripping the Silver plating of the Throne on which the idol of Sai Baba was placed. However, the Silver plating on a Lions statue was left untouched maybe because the burglars might have been in a hurry and hence did not target the Silver Lion. The Vanasthalipuram police who patrol the area regularly, have registered a case under section 457/380 of the Indian Penal Code and the investigations have started.

- TWO ARRESTED FOR CHEATING PEOPLE WITH A CHEAP PACKAGE TOUR TO SHIRDI 21st Dec`2011 In Bengaluru`Karnataka, two people were arrested on charges of

cheating about 120 people by promising them a Low-cost Shirdi Sai Baba package tour. An amount of Rs 3.90 lakh cash and some computer equipment were also seized from them. Police said that the duo, who had started a travel agency in an apartment, used to send SMS messages to people, saying that the agency would take them to Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi by Air from Bengaluru for Rs 6,999/- per head. They were arrested following complaints from people who had paid the money and were not taken on any trip.

- THEFT OF 10 TOLAS OF SILVER @ SAI BABA TEMPLE IN MIYAPUR`A.P 29th Nov`2011 A Theft was reported from the Sai Baba Temple in Miyapur, Hyderabad`Andhra Pradesh where thieves decamped with nearly 10 tolas (117 grams) of Silver articles. A case was registered with the Police & investigations are going on.

On 30th Oct`2011, there was a theft of Cash in the Sai Baba Temple in Tirupati`Andhra Pradesh. While the gate of the Sai Temple lies unscathed, the robbers have emptied 2 Donation Boxes inside. A case was registered with the police who are trying to ascertain whether this was the handiwork of someone within or not.

- THEFT OF 20 Kgs SILVER @ SAI BABA TEMPLE IN KASAULI`HIMACHAL PRADESH 06th Sept`2011 On 03rd Sept`2011 Saturday night there was a theft of 20 Kgs Silver ornaments worth Rs.70,000 from the Idol of Sai Baba, from the Sai Baba Temple, just half km away from Garkhal. According to the President of Sai Sudha Trust`Garkhal, who lodged a complaint at the police station, the thieves entered the temple between 02:00 am - 03:00 am by break opening the Door Grill & then carried on the theft so smoothly that the guards sleeping in the adjoining room also did not come to know about it. Amongst the ornaments stolen were Sai Baba's Silver Crown and a big Silver Canopy. This Theft came to light by the Temple Trustees at 06:00 am during Baba's Aarti.

The police have started the investigations by sending teams to Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to trace the culprits including making inquiries from the jewelers of these states by sending them the photos of the stolen silver ornaments whose market rate is being speculated to be approx Rs.13 lakh. The Cops suspect that the thieves might have inspected the Temple premises long back because at the time of the theft, the dogs in the temple premises who bark daily, did not bark at all during the time the theft was taking place.

- SILVER IDOLS STOLEN FROM SAI BABA TEMPLE @ SAKARA`UTTAR PRADESH 28th Aug`2011 A theft took place on 26th Aug`2011 Friday night, at the Sai Baba Temple in Sakara village of Rampur Police station of Jaunpur`Uttar Pradesh. The Thieves entered the Temple by break opening the lock of the Temples main gate and then further broke opened the locks of 3 rooms inside and stole items worth Rs.8 lakh like: 1. 5 kg Silver Idol of Lord Ganesha 2. 5 kg Silver Idol of Goddess Durga 3. 300 grams Silver Crown of Sai Baba 4. Two Silver Cots weighing 1 kg each 5. 35 Kilo Brass Cobra Snake Idol 6. Rs.15 lakh from the Donation box 7. Musical instruments kept at the Temple, like drums, harmonium, loudspeakers 8. Bicycle of the temples priest. This robbery came to light when in the morning the people saw the

Temples door open and informed the trustees. The police were informed who found the empty Donation Box and the clothes of the Idols thrown away around 100 meters away from the temple. To be noted is that in the past 6 months, this is the third time a robbery has taken place at this very same Sai Temple. 1) On 25th Feb`2011 - thieves stole 31 Kilo Bell and Rs.25,000/cash. 2) On 25th March night - thieves stole 1 small Bell plus some other items.

- SILVER CANOPY STOLEN FROM SAI BABA TEMPLE IN AMBALA`HARYANA 18th Aug`2011

At around 10:30 am, on Friday 12th Aug`2011, a Female Sai Devotee stole the Silver Canopy from over Sai Baba's Idol in the Sai Baba Temple @ Ambala City`Haryana. What is more shocking is that she stole this Canopy within 20 seconds amidst so many people present there. The entire theft was captured on the Temples CCTV Cameras and there is look out for this female. The culprit entered the Temple and under the pretext of taking Baba's darshan, avoiding the attention of all the devotees present, she went behind the Idol of Sai Baba and at the very first instance broke the canopy from above the Idol, hid it in her bag and quietly left the temple. No devotee or the Priest of the Temple who was present at the Temple at that time came to know about this theft. This matter came to Light only when the crowds in the Temple decreased and the Priest saw the Idol of Sai Baba and found the Canopy missing.

To be noted that earlier too there was a Theft of the Crown of Sai Baba from this very Sai Baba Temple and till date the police haven't been able to catch the culprit.

- CASH THEFT USING FORCEPS @ SAI BABA TEMPLE`DELHI 30th Jul`2011 On Friday 29th Jul`2011, during Baba's afternoon aarti at the Sai Baba Temple at Lodhi Road`New-Delhi, thieves were caught stealing more than Rs.10,000/- cash from the Donation Boxes using Forceps. This was the third time these thieves were carrying on this theft but due to the alertness of one of the Temples staff, 1 thief was caught while the other 2 managed to escape leaving behind the long forceps made esp in-size of the donation box. Later it was found that these thieves were Public Buses employees & were rendered unemployed when the Buses were discontinued. Their modus operandi was to use long forceps to steal money from the Donation Box during the Aarti when most of the devotees keep their eyes closed & the others including the priest have their concentration set on the Aarti/Baba's Idol. As the Donation Box was placed towards everyone's back, 1 person used to use the forceps to steal the money while the other 2 surrounded him so that no one could see what he was upto. After removing quite some rupee notes, they used to go away leaving behind their Forceps, to be used the next time. The authorities never find out about this theft as the money was never counted that moment nor did they find out as to why forceps were left behind besides the

donation box. Only later did they find it fishy & tried to find out about it by appointing a staff to keep a guard over the donation box, as a result of which this theft came to light.

- THEFT OF RS.25 LAKH WORTH SILVER @ SAI BABA TEMPLE IN NALGONDA`A.P 11th July`2011 There was a Theft at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple on the outskirts of Devarakonda town in Nalgonda district`Andhra Pradesh, India. On, Monday 11th July`2011 at around 05:00 am the thieves entered the Sai Temple after break opening the entrance of the temple. They decamped with Baba's Silver Crown, Silver Throne etc weighing around 40 - 50 kgs. They also took away the Temples Donation Box & one Almirah but dumped them at a furlong after taking away all the Cash in them. As the theft took place in the early hours of the morning and as the temple is on the outskirts of the village, no one heard the noise of the thieves breaking-in the Temple. The loss is estimated at around Rs.25 lakhs. The cops suspect this act to be the work of around 4 thieves. Some suspects have been taken into custody. The CCS team, dog squad and fingerprint team reached the Temple and got some finger-prints which will be examined during the investigation being conducted.

- THEFT @ SAI BABA TEMPLE IN BAREILLY`UTTAR PRADESH 21st Jan`2011 On Wednesday 19th Jan`2011 night,

there was a theft of articles worth Rs.15-20 Lakh @ the Sai Baba temple in Bareilly`Uttar Pradesh. The Thieves first broke-in the Store rooms two central locks and then the strongroom. They managed to decamp with Baba's Silver Throne & Charan Padukas. apart from the donation-box, 2 Gold Chains, 2 Pendants, Silver Utensils, Silver Canopy, Baba's Crowns and other ornaments of Sai Baba. Later, at the backside of the Temple, Baba's Throne & Charan Padukas were found but the Silver coated on them was missing and so was the donation box but without the Rs.35,000/- present in it. A complaint was lodged at the police station. Investigations were made but the culprits are still at large.
