As you haveread in previous newsletters, Greenspace was fundedbyCalifomia Releafto growtrees that are potentially resistant to pitch canker. The first stageof the program was to obtain seeds from trees that were healthyin areas heavily infestedwith pitch canker.Theseseeds were harvested plantedby our volunteers havebeengrowing in the and and greenhouse since. Purchase Wales of Triangle Would Preserve One of State's Prehistoric Oldest Villages
Located on Lodge Hill is one of the least disturbed and oldest prehistoricvillage siteson California's Central Coast. In a steptoward preservingthis site and providing a pocket park for thearea, Greenspace partnered has with TheArchaeological Conservancy in an innovativejoint ventureto purchase one of the lots that comprise the site. This is the first time in its history that The Archaeological Conservancy hasjoinedforceswith a local land trust. The ArchaeologicalConservancyhas pledgeda $30,000 challenge grant to Greenspace a lease/option beennegotiatedto buy the and has flrst lots.
