SPEED CONTROL OF D.

C MOTOR USING SLIDER CAPSENS

PSoC CapSense:is the innovative solution for buttons, sliders, and touch pads - economical and reliable. Cap Sense solution offers designers various advantages: increased flexibility, reduced board space and lower cost. Because of the unique PSoC architecture multiple functions (e.g., LED drivers and LCD displays) can be integrated, in addition to touch sensing, easy serial communications using either I2C or SPI interfaces. Both track pad (x-y matrix) and linear slider applications can be implemented with the same device, and quick design changes using the flash-based PSoC architecture are no problem.

Pulse-width modulation (PWM):is a commonly used technique for controlling power to inertial electrical devices, made practical by modern electronic power switches .The average value of voltage (and current) fed to the load is controlled by turning the switch between supply and load on and off at a fast pace. The longer the switch is on compared to the off periods, the higher the power supplied to the load is .The PWM switching frequency has to be much faster than what would affect the load, which is to say the device that uses the power. Typically switchings have to be done several times a minute in an electric stove, 120 Hz in a lamp dimmer, from few kilohertz (kHz) to tens of kHz for a motor drive and well into the tens or hundreds of kHz in audio amplifiers and computer power supplies.

DC motor speed control:The speed controller works by varying the average voltage sent to the motor. It could do this by simply adjusting the voltage sent to the motor, but this is quite inefficient to do. A better way is to switch the motor's supply on and off very quickly. If the switching is fast enough, the motor doesn't notice it, it only notices the average effect .This on-off switching is performed by power MOSFETs. A MOSFET is a device that can turn very large currents on and off under the control of a low signal level voltage .The time that it takes a motor to speed up and slow down under switching conditions is dependant on the inertia of the rotor and how much friction and load torque there is. The graph below shows the speed of a motor that is being turned on and off fairly slowly SPEED CONTROL OF D.C MOTOR USING SLIDER CAPSENS. In this project when we power on the slider cap sense splits into 10 divisions .when the motor is on then the pwm maintain power-1 for the gradual increase of the motor when the each division increases the speed of the motor also increase this is mostly applicable in the industrial areas to operate heavy motors
