Qualitative Research User Report 2:

Since Ive conducted 4 interviews for the last report, Ive covered all the question marks I had and I dont have any more open questions and so Im done with this part of the second report. No open questions Our stakeholders are the same; I didnt need to add any more. They are Students, Teachers & Parents After conducting the interviews we zoomed in into the problem and decided to focus our effort on The Memory enhancement to be our burning problem to be solved. The 4 interviews were already conducted from the previous milestone. They were conducted: - On Monday, 4th of October, 2010 - With an English teacher, Math teacher, a student and a parent. In Saint Fatima Language School (Nasr City). - No recording technologies - No Photos were allowed - The summary and the observations were explained explicitly in the previous report, and here is just a brief. Actually the teachers are just following a routine and giving the lessons in a boring way that dont grab the attention of the students and this leads the students to memorizing without understanding or loving what they are learning, besides that they dont have enough time for more interaction with the students and so the teachers dont influence the students or leave a unique print in their life. On the other hand, the parents cant believe the amount of studying their children are supposed to finish per day in addition to the homework and projects (if any) so they dont have time to teach them any skills or provide them with good ideas for better studying. And since the teachers dont go into deep interactions with the students, they dont get their weak points and carry out the feedback to the parents, and so there is a lost ring between the teachers and the parents and the result is that the students pay for it, because they are lost in between without a good plan for them in order to get all the benefit from the school days and be ready with knowledge and soft skills for the practical life after that.

Scenarios:

1st Scenario: The 11 years-old student was going home after the long school day was over, he was very stressed because he had 2 homeworks to finish for the next day in addition to studying for the Arabic monthly exam, which is a disaster for him because he has to memorize a lot of things and he faces huge problems in memorizing and it takes him at least 1 hour to finish a lesson. So how will he finish 6 lessons in addition to the 2 homeworks and he has only 5 hours before going to bed? Decided to go to the 2nd design Idea

2nd Scenario: The 11 years-old student was spending a nice day at school, he was happy because his father had promised him to take him after the school to the club and let him join the football team there. So the boy was so excited because his dream will come true after the school day ends. But unfortunately, at the last session, he had a History class, and the teacher distributed the results of the last monthly exam, in which he got a bad mark. So the teacher blamed him for getting such a mark although he is smart and clever. His main problem was memorizing since it takes him a lot of time to memorize something specially that the lessons include a lot of dates mentioned referring to when a war has happened or any other event. And so during the exam he was confused about what event happened at which year and so he made a lot of mistakes. So at the end, this problem caused his father to tell him that he will not take him to join the football team in the club, but rather save this time so that you can study more after the school to improve your grades. Decided to go to the 2nd Design Idea

Semantic Model:
Semantic Model 1 (1st Scenario): o Function: Helps the students to enhance their memory by using the Text Memorizing technique in studying. o Parameters: Username, Password, Shapes & Clipart, Lessons Exercises.

o Description: The student will enter the username, the password, and then choose in which grade he/she is in, after that choose the subject to study and the lesson to have exercises on. The student will study the lesson with putting symbols for every title and create his/her own story and then type the story and take the exam. After finishing, the student has to submit so that he/she knows whether they performed well or not and also the teacher and the parents can follow up with him/her and know how he/she performs. o Feedback: The result appears to the student after submitting notifying him how he/she performed in the exercise. Also the teacher and the parents can see the result at any time.

o Errors: Invalid Username Invalid Password

Semantic Model 2 (2nd Scenario): o Function: Helps the students to enhance their memory by using the Number Memorizing technique in studying the dates and others. o Parameters: Username, Password, Shapes & Clipart, Long Numbers

o Description: The student will enter the username, the password, and then choose to work on the Number Memorizing, after that start with the exercises available. The student will have to map every digit to a symbol (picture) and create his/her own story and then type the story and take the number he/she memorized. After finishing, the student has to submit so that he/she knows whether they performed well or not and also the teacher and the parents can follow up with him/her and know how he/she performs and whether he benefit from these exercises or just do them as just a game. o Feedback: The result appears to the student after submitting notifying him how he/she performed in the exercise. Also the teacher and the parents can see the result at any time.
