VOL. 6 NO.1

Baby Jesus birth created no small stir. It was told that Mary was expecting by the Holy Ghost of God and that she had never been with a man. This had never happened before. Even Joseph, Marys espoused husband didnt believe it until the Angel came and told him what God was doing. Can you imagine the talk that was going on behind their backs? Would you have believed it? They had it written in their scriptures, but they never caught it. God is faithful to prepare us for His works, but are we listening?
Isa 7:14-16 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JESUS?

As Mary was birthing baby Jesus, the Angels were announcing His birth to the shepherds in the fields. It wasnt only announced in the fields, but there was a star that was seen as far away as the east. Two years later the wise men came looking for baby Jesus. After the wise men left, Joseph took Mary and baby Jesus and moved so Herod would not kill Him. You dont hear a lot about baby Jesus again until He was twelve years of age. By this time Joseph and Mary had birthed children and Jesus was living with half brothers and sisters. We can only imagine what it must have been like for the others to live with a perfect child, never doing anything wrong. The talk that had gone on behind their backs was probably settling down by this time, but they were all watching. After all, they were looking for a Messiah. Now at twelve years of age we find Jesus sitting in the Temple talking to the scribes and priests, learning and asking questions. The only problem was, his mother and Joseph didnt know that he had stayed behind. By the time they found him, they were sorrowing. He thought they would understand that He needed to be about His Fathers business. But they felt He still needed their instruction. In honor of his parents, Jesus obeyed and went home with them, submitting Himself to them until He was in His 30s. Nobody really understood what Jesus was going to do.

(Continued on page 2)

Did you ever wish you could have lived in the time of Christ and could have walked beside Him and watched as He ministered to people? The Bible says, before Jesus became man, His name was The Word. Every time we open the written Word and let it enter our lives we are fellowshipping with Jesus, the Word of God. This is beginning a new year and again we challenge you to read through your Bible in one year. You would be amazed at how many professing Christians have never read every word of the Bible. Unless you have a plan to do so, you more than likely never will. Dont you want to know what the Bible says and not just what you have been told? For years I was taught that Elijah went to heaven in a chariot. He did not! He went to heaven in a whirlwind. Go read it! I also have a little figurine of a lion and a lamb lying beside one another which is to represent scripture. But scripture says it is a wolf and a lamb that will lie together. Go check it out. These are little things, but important things and you will only catch them if you are reading the scriptures. Your schedule is included, so join us this year. Dont forget to send us your name if you finished reading through your Bible this year. Your name may encourage someone else to join in.

THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US! (John 1:14)

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JESUS?

Mary was well aware that Jesus was not your ordinary child. Can you imagine the things Jesus might have shared with them about the Father? I dont know what He did for Mary while at home, but she was sure when the wedding ran out of wine that Jesus could make it alright. She was well aware of His supernatural powers. The Bible says that turning the water into wine was Jesus first public miracle, but Mary must have already experienced His abilities. By this time He had disciples and from then on He would be about His Fathers business. Jesus disciples loved what they watched Jesus do daily; healing, casting out devils, raising the dead, and yet they were not clear about what was coming. Those waiting for the Messiah was expecting Him to set up the kingdom as they had known it under David. They were not looking for a heavenly kingdom. The Old Testament told what and how Jesus would suffer and die. They knew the scriptures, but they didnt get it. When it came time for Jesus to go to the cross, all forsook Him. John and Peter followed Him to find out what would happen, but Peter ended up denying Jesus three times. How many times have you and I been wrong when it came to the works of Jesus and how many times have we disagreed with the way in which He was working? We should relate to Peter. For three years Jesus went about doing good, performing one miracle after another. His twelve disciples witnessed everything He did. Peter said I will die for you, as the others also said, but they thought Jesus was going to fight for His kingdom. Jesus stopped at one point and said, Who do men say that I am? Some thought He was Elijah, some thought He was John the Baptist (coming back from the dead). Then Jesus asked Peter, Who do you say I am? Peter said, Thou art the Son of God! God had spoke out of heaven saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Why didnt everyone notice that Jesus was not your average person? Nobody had ever done the miracles that He did. Yes, the reason they wanted Jesus dead was because He called Himself the Son of God, making Himself equal with God. The Bible is clear that there is ONE GOD. They did not understand the trinity, as many today do not understand. Religion killed Jesus because they didnt believe Him! The world would have turned Jesus loose! He came to change religion from law to grace, and they were not going to allow it. When you live by the law it is look what I do. When you live by grace it is look what Christ did. What happened to baby Jesus? The world put Him on the cross at the Jews request. As He was dying He said, It is finished. Father, forgive them, for that know not what they do. This world killed the only begotten Son of God! He was the hope of the world! His disciples did not understand and they were grieving in their heart. What would we do if there was no Jesus? Without Jesus there is no hope of life! Three days after they laid Him in the tomb, God the Father resurrected His only begotten Son, because He was found to be acceptable. Jesus walked out of the tomb. Jesus is not dead! Death could not hold Him, because there was no sin in Him. He is the only living man who has never sinned and therefore death had no right to hold Him in that tomb! Christianity is the only religion that has a living God! The god of every other religion is dead and in the grave. But whatever happened to baby Jesus? After Jesus showed Himself to His disciples (and many others), He ascended in a cloud up into heaven, and He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for all believers. He has also sent us the Holy Spirit

(Continued from page 1)

to live in us and to comfort and teach us. We have an amazing God. He is omniscient, therefore His knows everything about your situation that needs to be known. He is not in the dark about anything. He is aware of our needs. He is omnipresent, so wherever you are, He is there. You are never alone. He is omnipotent, which means He has the power to do what has to be done. He is a God that never lacks. We can only be complete with Him as our God. There is not another power that can complete us. When Israel was in the wilderness, God came down to the top of the mountain to talk to Moses. God told the people not to touch the mountain lest they die. The people were afraid to approach God. They left that to Moses. But Jesus changed all of that for all those who have received the gift of life. Hebrews tells us about that change.
Heb 12:18-24 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Just think what we have found in the life of that baby Jesus! When we kneel to pray, we come unto Mount Sion, the heavenly Jerusalem. We dont think about going anywhere when we began praying, but we do. We step into the Holy of Holys. Who is there?

Well, for one thing there is an innumerable company of angels. Evidently they are listening to our prayers. Then there is have the general assembly of the church, those who have been born again and have passed from this life to the next, whose names are written in heaven. Would that mean our saved loved ones are present when we go to prayer? Next, God the Father is there, the judge of all. Then you have the spirits of just men made perfect. But He saved the best for last. We have Jesus the mediator of the new covenant. I would guess that we do not often think about what is happening when we pray. We are in a throne room. We are there to present our cause and Jesus is there as our intercessor. Again Hebrews tells us to come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need.
Heb 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

And we know that ALL THINGS work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
This verse is quoted often and many times it is misused and misunderstood. There is nothing good about evil, but the work that is done in us because of experiencing evil, works together for our good. What is labeled evil? Anything that destroys and does not benefit life. I have had bone issues since I was eleven years old. At eleven years old I was running around the end of my bed and my back fell out of place. I could not straighten up. My parents took me to a chiropractor, who was a friend of ours and he adjusted me and told my parents I had a double curvature of the spine. Through the years I have had many times that it looked like I would not be able to walk. I was told by one doctor in the early 70s that I only had two more years to walk if I didnt have surgery and surgery was not promised to be successful. It would be a fifty/fifty chance of success. I chose to take my chances and walk as long as I could and then I would talk about surgery. Well, that was over 40 years ago and I am still walking. Dont get me wrong, I havent walked everyday and it hasnt been easy, but in many ways I am doing better than I did in my youth (because I have learned some of the tricks of the trade when it comes to protecting my bones). For many years I spent much time with chiropractors, but after awhile my bones were too brittle and adjustments were causing more problems than they were solving. So, when I had a bone that slipped out of place I would pamper it and wait for it to go back into place. That would take about three to fourteen days, but it worked. It seemed like every time I had an opportunity to be used of God, my back would go out. Well, it was one of those days when I was to leave early in the morning and go out of town. I was being very careful not to move the wrong way so I could stay on my feet and fulfill what God had given me to do. About five oclock that morning, I was fast asleep, when all of a sudden my whole body shook and my head was throbbing. I felt like I had been hit by a sledge hammer. My eyes popped opened and my mouth popped open and I said in a loud tone, What happened? My husband was sitting up in the bed saying, I am so sorry, I am so sorry. Are you alright? I said, What happened (with a very angry spirit)? and he began to explain. Our bed has doors up above our heads and he had been resting his hand on the door knob above my head. When he went to turn over he pulled the door down and it hit me in the head. Now I knew he did not do it on purpose and I knew he was very sorry and I forgave him, BUT, I had the urge to slap somebody and I had to get up and go to the bathroom until I could get over that urge. He yelled to me and said, Are you alright? I began laughing and said, Yes, but I really would like to slap somebody, and then we both began laughing. By this time it was time for me to leave town and Jerry was worried about what that hit on the head would do to my back and if I leave town. I was already having trouble with my back and this surely would not help. We decided to trust the Lord with it and I took two Tylenol and drove away. The truth is, it did help. That hit on my head put my back in place and three days later I was as good as new. God had given me an adjustment with one slap to the head! It was quick, it was successful and it didnt cost a thing. God knows that I hate leaning upon doctors, so God took care of me in a unique way. One Sunday, about one year later, my back went out again and while I was at church God did it again.

Rom 8:28

Today, the world is taking baby Jesus out of Christmas and just making it another holiday. Even our churches are more involved in the social celebration of Christmas than in the worship of baby Jesus. Will He be the center of your Christmas? Gather your family together and kneel in prayer, taking all your loved ones to the throne of God and let them remember just what baby Jesus did for all mankind. He became the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Savior of the World.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY ENJOYABLE!

Christmas is coming and possibly it is coming to your house! At our house we will have right at 20 people (or more depending on how many extras we and our children bring). That is a lot of different personalities, so how do we have a wonderful time together without getting in each others face? The Brewster clan is a very opinionated people. We wanted our children to know how to think for themselves and that they do. Our grandchildren know what they believe and why they believe it. While we are all on the same wave link when it comes to God and His Word, we have many different methods and sometimes very different conclusions as to how to perform what we believe. Family time can sometimes end in a disaster, if we are not practicing godly ways. I think this would be a good time for us to refresh our memories about the things we are called to practice as believers. If we practice these things, we can get the benefit of wonderful relationships while the world ends up striving and killing the very ones they love. Luke 6:30-38 points out the things that will help us enjoy one another.
Luke 6:30-38 30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. 37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

First, we need to remember to have a giving attitude! You may have some family members that have some needs that you are able to meet. Help them as God directs you and then forget and dont expect it to be returned. Now that doesnt mean that God doesnt expect them to return it, but by turning it loose it doesnt interfear with you days. The worry of return should be their responsibility, not yours. You might be saying, they dont deserve help. God is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. I am not suggesting that you let your loved ones use you and walk over you, but if they have a real need and you can met that need, it

will bless your life to do so. Secondly, if someone says something or does something that irritates your spirit, respond to them the way you would want them to respond to you. Sometimes we just want to let them know how stupid they look and so we open our mouths and we both end up looking stupid. Christmas is not a day to do battle. It is a day to celebrate the life of baby Jesus, we can battle later when it will not ruin everyone elses day. I can hear some of you saying as you read this, You dont know my family. My family is not lovely. Well, anybody can love the lovely, but it takes a godly person to love the unlovely. So, how godly are you? If your family is able to bring the worst out in you, then your family controls you, not God. If everybody else in the house acts ungodly, they should leave seeing you as the picture of the character of God. Remember, Jesus called Judas friend. Jesus knew who Judas was, but it didnt change who Jesus was. One of the things I greatly desire is to learn how not to let others actions change me from what God has taught me to be. Thirdly, we must be merciful if we are to be like our Heavenly Father. Our old flesh wants to make sure that everybody has to give an account for every act. God will see to it they do, but lets show mercy and enjoy each other. Just think how often we cry for mercy. Have you ever gone to prayer and asked God to give you what you deserve? Not me! I cry for mercy and grace. How do you know if you show mercy? You dont judge, you dont condemn; you forgive and you give!

(Continued on page 7)

This drawing reminds me of how Jesus loves His children. When we are first birthed into Christ we are babes in Christ and He draws us to His bossom. What a loving God we serve.

No one knows just what Jesus looked like. There are many, many paintings of Christ, but they are all the concept of the painter. I ran across these pencil drawings a few years ago on the internet. I was not able to make out the artists name but can really appreciate the spirit they have captured through their drawings. We do not keep pictures of Christ in our home because we want our family to see Christ when they read scripture.

This drawing reminds me of a father playing with his grandchildren. The scripture tells us we were created for His PLEASURE.

First we are birthed and then the Lord teaches us how to walk. He tells us in Proverbs, though the righteous falleth He will be there to pick us up! What a promise.

This drawing reminds me of the single parent. Jesus said He would be a father to the fatherless and a husband to the widow. In no situation are we ever left alone.

Last but not least, Christ can relate even to teenagers! There is no barrier between Christ and man. He loves us all. I do believe that this artist knows the love of Christ stronger than they do the judgment of Christ. Other pictures depict Him hurting, angry or weak. This artist knows the JOY of fellowship with Jesus. We still do not know what Jesus looked like, yet we all feel we know him. John said having not seen Him, yet we love Him. How true. 5

TID BITS OF WISDOM MONTHLY REPORT

Christmas is here already. Another year is gone. You and I are one year closer to the end of our life as we know it today, or the rapture, whichever comes first. What have we accomplished this year? Have all our accomplishments been for self or have we accomplished things for Gods kingdom? If by Gods grace He gives you and me another year, what will we do with it? There are many stages in the Christian life. There is the beginning stage where we sleep and eat, trying to take in nurishment to grow by. Later, we become aware of our wings and it is time to be kicked out of the nest and learn to fly. We start using what we learned in the first stage. Then it is time to take flight and accomplish the work God has given us to do. At the end of this time we begin to lose strength and must return to the nest until it is time to be call home. Wherever you are in life, you are to live it to the glory of God. As we produce this paper, it is our prayer that the articles will feed every stage of life so we can aid and encourage others to be busy about serving Christ. This year has been a battle to get the paper out on time because of illness. At first it was unnerving to be what we thought was late and then we began to see that God many times would not give us the articles until late. So we began to rest in it and trust Him to lead. Gloria is getting back on her feet and I am facing surgery again the first of the year. My heart is working at 10 to 15% and they will not allow me to drive unless I have a defibulator and pacemaker put in. Please, when you think of us, dont think of two sick people. We live full lives and go everyday all day. God in His grace keeps us on our feet and we praise Him for that. We bear sickness in our lives but our sickness is not our lives. We thank God for every morning and give it our best until the end of the day. We do appreciate your prayers for us. Remember, if you would like to honor someone who has passed away with a love gift to the paper, we will print their names in the next months paper. All gifts can be sent to Tid Bits of Wisdom, 1801 Old Hickory Trail, DeSoto, Texas, 75115. Our web address is on the back page. All gifts are tax deductable. This paper is paid for by faith through Gods people.
There was a wealthy man who just couldnt believe that he couldnt take his money with him when he died, so, he gave his three best friends one million dollars each and made them promise they would put the money in his coffin when he died. Each man came by at his funeral and placed an envelope in the coffin. Weeks later, as they were talking, the first friend confessed he had kept $250 for himself and he was so ashamed. The next said he had kept $500 for himself and he was so ashamed. The third friend judged them hoarsely for not keeping their word to their friend. He said, I could never break my word to him; I made my check out for the whole one million!!!

Why should we do these things for our loved ones? Well, when I do not judge, I am not judged. When I do not condemn, then I am not condemned. When I do forgive, then I am forgiven. The way I give, I receive in return. I will give good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over because I desire to receive that spirit of giving when it is returned to me. Give yourself a wonderful holiday and act like Christ. It will bless you and it will bless everyone around you. Have a Merry, Merry Christmas and may the world see that baby Jesus living through our lives.

One of our young girls got saved that morning and the people were coming around to show their love to her. I went over to tell her how happy I was for her and as I bent down to her, her father raised up and his elbow hit me right in the mouth. It popped my neck and he thought he had knocked my teeth out. His eyes were as big as saucers. He could not apologize enough. I told him I was fine and I wouldnt be surprised if God had not just used him to put my back in place. Sure enough thats what happened. I told Jerry, The next time my back goes out, I am hiding in the closet! Well, that was some years ago and I havent had anymore trouble, but Jerry began having trouble with his knee a few years ago and later it had become unbearable (yet he refused to see a doctor). About two months ago, Jerry went to step out of his truck and he stepped in a hole and fell right on his knee which struck a large rock. He had three big holes in the top of his knee. Our first thought was, Oh, no, that probably finished off his knee and now he will have to get knee replace-

And we know that ALL THINGS work together for good

(Continued from page 3)

ment, then we remembered what God had done for my back and laughing we said, Maybe God just repaired your knee. Guess what. One week later he could walk on that knee without pain. He can go up and down stairs and he doesnt live in pain everyday. To me this explains what God meant when He said, All things work for good to those who love Him. Maybe God is at work in an unusuall way in your life right now and

you dont know it yet. This always reminds me of the sweet uneducated woman who said to me one day, Now you know, God works in mischievous ways! Maybe she knew something I didnt know at that time. Gods ways are certainly not our ways, so watch for Him. He is closer than you think and He is always on the scene. Thank you Lord for loving me enough to take care of these matters!
