These Plans and Documents have to be approved by the Administration or an organisation authorized by them.
A flag State may choose to have: A Cargo Ship Safety Certificate may be issued under the provisions of the HSSC Regulations to a Cargo Ship as an alternative to the Cargo Ship Safety Construction- , Cargo Ship Safety Radio - and Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate. 2 A damage control plan/booklet is not required by the relevant Convention/Code. For classification matters only, Germanischer Lloyd requires that for each ship a damage control plan is to be prepared, for which a damage stability calculation is to be performed. 3 For details on application refer to RESOLUTION MSC.202(81) 4 MARPOL Annex IV entered into force on the 27th of September 2003. For Existing ships the International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate is required 5 years after the date of entry into force of this Annex. 5 Regulation 11.1.1 of MARPOL 73/78 Annex IV has been updated to require that the moderate rate of discharge is to be calculated in accordance with MEPC.157(55). The results of these calculations shall be approved by the Administration and be placed onboard (For details on application refer to Reg. 11.1.1 of MARPOL 73/78 Annex IV). Resolution MEPC.157(55) provides a guideline on how to calculate the moderate rate of discharge. 6 The date of entry into force of the AFS Convention is 17th September 2008, present requirements for such Certificates or equivalent Statements of Compliance are based on national legislation, primarily by member states of the European Union (based on EU Regulation (EC) No 782/2003, in force since May 2003). 7 Special Trade means the conveyance of large numbers of Special Trade Passengers (Pilgrims) by sea on international voyage within specified areas; a Special Trade Passenger means a passenger carried in Special Trades with spaces on the weather deck, upper deck and / or between decks which accommodate more than 8 passengers. 8 Survey and issuance only if required by flag State or wished by owners. 9 For provision, hose handling and machinery cranes national regulations may apply. 10 There are other requirements for special types of vessels.
Notes: 1. Only certificates and documents required by international conventions and mandatory codes are listed. In addition Port and Flag States might have more extended requirements. 2. All plans, manuals and other documents required by the various IMO conventions to be carried on board ships constructed on or after 1 July 2005 should be marked with the IMO ship identification number in a clearly legible and unambiguous manner (MSC. Circular 1142). Disclaimer This list has been prepared using the best information currently available. The information provided is intended purely as guidance; their use is at the users own risk.
