Position Description: Controls Engineer - Power Plant Engineering QuEST is looking for a Controls Engineer to work onsite at our

customer facility in Schenectady, NY. This position would be a 12 month contract position Duties (Job Function and Responsibilities): Support Balance of Plant (BOP) Controls Engineering effort for extended scope combined cycle power plant projects. Support and produce all engineering deliverables associated with design and procurement of power station instrumentation and control equipment. Participate in sourcing process for power station instrumentation and control equipment. Use engineering standards and work practices to define control strategies for BOP power plant equipment. Support factory acceptance testing of power plant control system equipment. Support the management of project schedules, budgets, teams, and equipment suppliers. Support Project Engineers in areas related to instrumentation & controls. Support regular reports (written & verbal) on project status to department management and Project Engineering and Project Management. Coordinate diverse group of project participants to produce an integrated plant control system. Support projects during installation, startup, and commissioning. Participate in individual initiatives within the Control Engineering group focusing on process improvement, cost reduction, quality, technological advancement, and New Program Introduction.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation and Controls; Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering with strong interest and/ or experience in Controls and Instrumentation.

REQUIREMENTS: 4 to 6 years of experience in Controls and Instrumentation Strong written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy, experience with MS Excel and MS Access. Knowledge of ISA standards/symbology, SAMA logic formats. Knowledge of industry communication protocols (modbus, ethernet, fieldbus, profibus, HART etc).

Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~10-20%). Must be a US Citizen or US Persons DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS Experience in thermal power generation plant instrumentation & controls design. Experience in matrix type project based organization. Experience in the specification, procurement, design, and testing of distributed control systems (DCS) like GE Mark VI/ VIe, ABB, Foxboro, Emerson; plant instrumentation, and control valves. Familiarity with power plant mechanical and electrical equipment. Familiarity with controls interfacing to plant DCS (PLC etc). Experience in planning and execution of complex engineering design projects. Experience in design of continuous and discrete process control software.
