Business Management Skills Training

Held on October 18 to October 19, 2011

A two days training on Business Management Skills held at Ghousia Colony, Dispensary Road at the cluster of three mothers groups on October 18, 2011 to October 19, 2011. Training was started with the name of Almighty Allah and Naat. PO-Training Arslan Ishaq conducted registration of the participants. He told the participant about the Purpose and objectives of training. He said by getting this training you will be able to manage your own business which needs very low startup cost. He said that you can also use these tactics at your home. So in this way you can save your expenses. After this Arslan Ishaq PO-Training introduce Mrs. Nasreen Awan Resource Person for BMST. The following topics were covered in this BMST:

Session 1
Mr. Arslan Ishaq PO-Training described different business management tools. He define business as Business implies being busy, doing commercially practicable and productive work.

Functionally, management is the process of measurement of the quantity of work while assessing its quality. He said Business management includes management of money and time. Management of money is an integral part of running a business. The activities of buying, selling and pricing have to be done skillfully. Business management requires a large skill set. It is everything right from planning, supervising, and right up to being the spokesperson for your business. He told the tools to manage small business. He said small business is one which can be started with low cost and can be started from home. It need low capital to start, low sales. He said we can manage this small business to have a lot of profit. Following were the basic tools of small business management tools. Firstly you choose the idea what product you want to manufacture or prepare and want to sell that. Secondly after getting business idea, you need capital to start a business whether it is small or large scale business. So accumulate the resources from where you can have capital. One of the sources for capital is your saving. If you have your much savings then you can start small business any time.

After this you need some promotion of your business for this you dont need to contact with advertising agencies. This will be your reputation in local area where you are going

to run a business. Your words of mouth will be helpful for promotion of your business. So if you want to start a small business at your local place then keep good relation with you neighbors. Then for preparation of the product, follow the rules for making quality goods as your quality goods will create more customers for your business.

More important thing is that keep the correct calculation of your activities. Keep accounting of your expenses and income as well. At this point I want to tell you that time is also money for you as one minute can be helpful for making profit or can be the cause of your loss. So time management is also necessary for having fruitful and profitable business.

One more important as I early told you that your attitude will be very helpful for your promotion of business as well as it will also helpful to keep your customer tied with you.

One more thing you should keep in mind and i.e.; this is the era of competition so when you are going to start a business then you will face competition too. But it doesnt mean that you should stop business rather your quality will be a point to keep your customers with you.

Session 2
First of All Mrs. Nasreen Awan told about herself to all the participants. She said you should focus in what I am going to 3

tell you today. She said today we make this our habit to purchase from the market for our ease. But by this we also increased our expenses which are not favorable in this era of inflation. She said in the earlier times women were used to prepare every thing at home which was of basic need. She said today we will learn the procedure of making some of the few things.

Session 3
She described the procedure for making surf. She described the ingredients for making the surf along with quantity of the ingredients. These were as follows:

Ingredients:
Nensa Powder Washing Soda Veera Foam (White Oil) Sulphonic acid (Black Oil) 1Kg 400 g 100 g 200 g

Procedure:
She said whenever you are making some thing use plastic gloves to protect the skin of your hands. She said firstly pour 1 Kg Nensa powder in a tub. Then pour 400 g washing soda in tub. Then mix them. After this mix Veera foam (White Oil) and Sulphonic Acid (Black Oil) and mix them. She said that these oils are used in making surf because they give protection to the cloths and as well as your hand so that you can have brighter cloths along with saving skin of your hand. She said it just cost up to Rs. 150 maximum and the product that you will produced will be of more than Rs. 300 thereby getting huge profit. She said when you will mix all these things then it will not be a refine powder but some stones of mixture will be there. So you have to crush them all to get refined surf. She said you can add fragrance of your choice by purchasing from market. Then your surf will be fragrance full. She said that these all companies making surfs like Ariel, Bonus etc. all use the same procedure for this and add different fragrance in the surf. She explained that they are just charging higher prices because of their packing. She said you can make 2 Kg surf from the material of 1Kg which cost very low and you can earn thereby high profit. When procedure completed she asked one of the participant 4

to wash dirty shirt from the surf there made. She washed the shirt and all participants satisfied with quality and appreciated the resource person.

Session 4
After this Mrs. Nasreen Awan told participant that now I will tell you about candle making which is very important and of great value in this time of load shedding. She said now you are purchasing one candle of Rs. 10 but this just cost of Rs. 3. So now you after learning the procedure of making candle you all will be able to save your Rs. 7. She said after learning the procedure of candle making you all are not only able to save your money but also be able to start your own business of candle making and selling. She told the ingredients and procedure which was as follows:

Ingredient:
Mom Asterik Sancha Thread Scissor Mustered Oil 1 Kg 20 g 1 1 pack 1 Little bit

Procedure:
She said firstly open Sancha and put the oil on it. After this put thread in circle so that thread will be in centre of candle. After this close the Sancha. Use a pot to melt the mom. She said that this mom when melt looks like water. She said when this mom is molten then put mustered oil in very small quantity in it. After 5 min on stove, pour this mixture in closed Sancha. She said that you can make any shape of the candle as per your choice. She said even you can use any pot like glass, small boil to have different shape of candle. She said that you can make your candle fragrance full by adding different fragrance. She said for this you will 5

purchase that fragrance from market by asking the fragrance to put in agar batti. Because this is the fragrance is appear after burning. After pouring the molten mixture of candle making into Sancha, leave this Sancha to get cool up to 1 hour. After molten mixture got cool, she opened the Sancha and candles were prepared. She gave these candles to some participants to check out the quality of the candles. Participants liked the candles and appreciated the quality work. Then there was a break of 10 minutes.

Session 5
After break Mrs. Nasreen Awan asked all the participants to be very attentive. She said now I am going to tell you another important thing which is a drink. She said now I will tell you about how to prepare almond drink. She said when guests come to home then we always used to purchase cold drinks from the shops. This is an additional expense which we have made as necessity of the time. But this is not right as in the time of 20-30 years ago people were used to prepare drinks at home to serve the guests. She said this will be really very helpful for all of you to increase saving and start a business. And this is also very favorable for your health. She said listen and observe the procedure of making drink. The procedure was as follows:

Ingredients:
Almond Sugar Sodium Benzoate Tatri 250 gm 1Kg 1 gm 2 gm

Procedure:
She said that put almonds in water for one whole night. She said separate the cover of almonds and blend them in blender. After blending separate water and then again mesh the blended almonds. Then put these meshed almonds in a pot and also add sugar and bake it. She described that use Spoon in boiling mixture as this mixture 6

will come outside if you didnt use spoon. She described that bake this mixture until it got concentrated. She explained that when this mixture gets concentrated then stop the stove and off the pot from stove and add sodium benzoit and tatri in this mixture. Then save this mixture in bottles and close the bottle and paste mom on bottle .use this drink after one week. After making this drink instantly, she gave it to participants for checking qulity and taste. All participants liked it very much and appreciated. Then after this lunch was given to all participants and the 1st day of training was ended.

Session 6
Second day was started with the name of Allah and Naat. Arslan Ishaq PO-Training took the review of the previous day session. He asked all the participants about what they have learnt last day. He asked some of the participants about the ingredients and procedures of the surf, almond drink and candle making. All those participants told procedure to PO-Training. Then PO-Training welcomed the Resource Person. Mrs. Nasreen greeted and asked about the health of all participants. She said today we will learn about Tie & Die. She assigned a group activity to the participants. Five groups were made and have been assigned to prepare different design by tying some wheat grain, bottle cover, almonds seeds in cloths for dying the cloths. After group activity she described the basic colors and how to prepare different colors by using the basic colors. This was as follows:

Ingredients:
Colors (Red,Blue,Yellow,White & Black) Salt Pot for dying Sticks Gas stove 7

Procedure:
The basic colors are those colors from which we can make different colors for the purpose of tie and die. These basic colors are Red Blue Yellow White Black She explained different configuration of colors to prepare new color of choice. This configuration was: Red + Blue = Purple Red + Yellow = Orange Blue + Yellow = Green Black + White = Gray

She then called the groups one by one and use the cloths designed by them for dying. She one by one explained the all group about how to die cloths in different colors. She also explained the merits and demerits of changing quantity of different colors. She said that salt is just added to make these colors strong so that on washing color would not be separate from cloths. She after dying the all cloths asked the women to hang these cloths in sunshine so that they can be dry. When all cloths got dry there was different fantastic design and colors. All the participants appreciated the activity.

Session 7
In this session she told the procedure of making vim powder for washing pots. She said its very easy and quick way to have a lot of powder for washing pots. Its have very low cost. You can also 8

use it as your business of making and selling vim. She said it will be helpful for you not only to save your money but also increase in income. She told the procedure for making Vim Powder. And the procedure was as follows:

Ingredients:
Marble Powder Washing Soda Nensa Powder 1 Kg 300 gm 200 gm

Procedure:
She said whenever you are making some thing use plastic gloves to protect the skin of your hands. She said firstly pour 1 Kg Marble Powder in a tub. Then pour 300 g washing soda in tub. Then mix them. After this mix Nensa Powder in mixture. She said that this material just cost up to Rs. 50. She said when you will mix all these things then it will not be a refine powder but some stones of mixture will be there. So you have to crush them all to get refined vim. She said you can add fragrance of your choice by purchasing from market. She said you can make a lot of vim from the material of 1Kg which cost very low and you can earn thereby have high profit. When procedure completed she asked one of the participant to wash pots from the vim there made. She washed the pots and all participants satisfied with quality and appreciated the resource person.

Session 8
In this session she asked the participants whether they are learning all the things or not. She said you all must have to muster up your courage to increase the income. Here she gave example of some women related to Bangladesh and Pakistan also. Then she said now we will learn about how to prepare Dry Plum Chattni. She said this is very delicious and low cost Chattni and you can prepare, pack them beautifully and can sell to the market at a reasonable price and hence can increase your income. She told the procedure which was as follows: 9

Ingredients:
Dry Plum Sugar Tartaric Acid (Tatri) Sodium Benzoate Red Chili crushed Salt 1 Kg 1 Kg 2 gm 1 gm 1 gm 60 gm

Procedure:
She said first put all dry plum in water for more than one hour or boil them in water. Sugar should be molten. She explained that mesh these boiled or wet plum. Then put this meshed plum in the molten sugar and bake this mixture. When this mixture got concentrated then add red crushed chili. She said when this mixture get more concentrated then off this mixture from the stove. Then add tartaric acid (Tatri) and sodium benzoate in the concentrated mixture. She said you can also add sugar instead of molten sugar in meshed plums. In this way dry plum Chattni got prepared then she gave it to participants for quality and taste check. All the participants gave full appreciation after tasting.
