PLC LAB TASKS

Date of submission: October 25, 2011

TASK 1
Performed on: September 15, 2011 Whenever a car is present in a car wash system, car is sensed by a switch S1 and a red lamp H0 glows. Now as the operator presses water nozzle W1, a pump P1 and a water outlet A5 open. When the operator closes W1, pump P1 and water outlet A5 close. At the same time, a dryer T1 gets ON. As the car leaves the place, T1 and H0 close and a green lamp H1 gets ON.

TASK 2
Performed on: September 22, 2011 An underground garage is equipped with four fans. A light at the entrance/exit shows the state of the garage ventilation, thus regulates the incoming and outgoing vehicles. Green When three or four fans are operating, ventilation is good and the light shows green. Yellow When only two fans are operating, ventilation is moderate and the light shows yellow. Red When only one fan is operating, the ventilation condition is dangerous/hazardous and the light shows red.

TASK 3
Performed on: September 29, 2011 An automatic stamping system shown below works as follows. When start switch S1 is turned ON, system gets ready to run. When the operator puts a box at the beginning of the conveyer i.e. LS1, the conveyer motor runs and conveyer moves. Upon reaching the mid-point of the conveyer i.e. LS2, the conveyer motor stops and stamp comes down and puts the stamp on the box. When this process is finished, the stamp goes up and box moves to the other end of the conveyer. After box reaches the end of the conveyer i.e. LS3, the conveyer motor stops. If the start switch is turned OFF, the system cannot run even if there is a box on the conveyer. The start light indicates that system is active whereas up and down lights indicate that the stamp is up or down respectively.

TASK 4
Performed on: October 6, 2011 A traffic lights system works as follows. When start switch is pressed, Red lamp glows, then Red and Yellow lamps glow together, and then the Green lamp gets ON. After that, the Yellow lamp glows and then the Red lamp turns ON. Then the cycle repeats. (Implement it using timers; choose appropriate duration for transition of lamps. The dotted line shows that Red and Yellow lamps glow simultaneously when running in forward direction.)

TASK 5
Performed on: October 13, 2011 A PLC controlled system operates as follows. If the start button is pressed, MV1 will be opened and dye starts to fill the tank. At the same time, mixing motor begins to run. As the level of the dye passes TBL2 and reaches TBL1, MV1 will be closed and mixing motor will stop. Then MV2 will be opened and dye begins to run out of the container. After the level of the dye reaches below TBL2, MV2 will be closed. This process is repeated for two times, and then the system will stop. We can observe the stopping of the system with a lamp and a buzzer. After the system stops, the buzzer will continue to run for 2sec and then stops, but the lamp continues to light until the reset button is pressed. When the reset button is pressed, the system will be ready to begin the process again.
