United States faces a plethora of problems and issues on a daily basis.

These issues that America faces seem to become daily problems unless someone volunteers action. Even though many view us as superior to other countries, we, as a nation, are far from perfection. Because of our interest in power, we probably deal with more issues than any other country in the world. But, from the importance of these issues is simply a matter of point of view and personal opinion. One can argue valid points and different opinions for several issues as being the most important of all. In my opinion, the environment is the most important issue facing our country today. Energy, waste

consumption and disposal, pollution, and random environmental conditions bring up some of the most crucial concerns of today's environmental issues. The environment has suddenly evolved into a widespread issue which is greatly discussed throughout the whole world. No longer are humans living in a world where the environment is stable but much rather becoming unrecognizable and deteriorating before our eyes. Many of the environmental problems that our country faces today are results from fossil fuel dependence. The Unites States consumes over one-fourth of the worlds total energy consumption and more than 80 percent of this consumption is derived from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are most responsible for climate changes, air quality deterioration, oil spills, contaminations and acid rain which are most hazardous to the environment. Water pollution and air pollution are other

environmental treats that are most known for causing heath problem, diseases, toxicity, and it damages not only individual species and populations, but also the natural biological communities and the atmosphere. In the most recent national report in the United States, 45 percent of assessed stream miles, 47 percent of assessed lake acres, and 32 percent of assessed bay and estuarine square miles were classified as polluted waters and more than half of the U.S. population lives in counties with unsafe levels of either smog or particle pollutions in the air. Another, treat to the environment is the amount of waste consumption and how it is disposed across the country. America generates 250 million tons of garbage per year and we also consume 1500 plastic water

bottles every second. In todays environment America faces many environmental problems, which can turn disastrous if not taken care of.

Reworking the environmental movement is the key to resolving this issue. The federal government has shown involvement in the environment since the governmental abuse of the environment lead to the first Earth Day, April 22, 1970 and later The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or better known as EPA began operation on December 3, 1970. EPA works with industries and all levels of government in a wide variety of voluntary pollution prevention programs and energy conservation efforts as a way of dealing with environmental issues. In my opinion, the federal government has to stiffer environmental emission laws and finds a way to increase their budget. Also, approach and perceive concerns of environmental justice, find a way to not differ from political parties. Making mandatory recycling for government employees at their workplace, investing more in research and development of clean energies, enforcing laws and requirements for oil drilling, creating more environmental projects, ensuring environmental safety and enforcing EPA Strategic Plan are some of the many ways the federal government can fix this issue that faces the country today.

This issue is very serious and many people have no idea that this even exist. To have problems and not even know about them is definitely grounds for destruction. We as a nation, must be concern with this issue, if left unaddressed, this issue will become fatal problems in the near future. That is why the federal government and we as a nation should work together to prevent this issue from becoming more than what it is now. A strategic and efficient plan from the federal government is the only way to unsure this issue can be resolved.
