December 1, 2011 Dear Friend, Christians are supposed to overcome the world. Then how are we doing?

Are we overcoming the world, or is the world overcoming us? A case can be made that the Christian faith is being marginalized, elbowed into irrelevancy by the culture we all have to live in. Whats worse, Christians have cooperated in the process. Nancy Pearcey, in her book, Total Truth, says: To many people today, Christians and non-Christians alike, Christianity is seen only as a personal, interior preference, something that exists only inside a persons head. Ms. Pearcey sets out to show how Christians cooperated in their own marginalization with a false piety centered in personal experience rather than objective truth. She is saying that we have contributed to all this by a false religiosity, a pretense of religion that is centered in personal experience as opposed to objective truth. In fact, it is not at all uncommon to hear people speak of experiencing Christ. One of the great Christian mystics, Hildegard of Bingin, describes her spiritual awakening in terms of an experience. When I was forty-two years and seven months old, a burning light of tremendous brightness coming from heaven poured into my entire mind. Like a flame that does not burn but enkindles, it inflamed my entire heart and my entire breast, just like the sun that warms an object with its rays. What did this illumination do for Hildegard? All of a sudden, I was able to taste of the understanding of the narration of books. I saw the Psalter clearly and the evangelists and other catholic books of the Old and New Testaments. Hildegard was overcome by this experience of intuition, connection-making, and insight and went to bed sick. It was when she placed my hand to writing that she received new strength, got out of bed, and spent the following ten years writing her first book called, Scivias. What is wrong with that? I cant say. I didnt have the experience. Experience, for everyone except possibly the person who has the experience, is purely subjective. Nancy Pearcey speaks of a false piety based on experience, and of its opposite, objective truth. What does she mean by objective truth? Subjective truth is something that is true to you but may not be true for me. Objective truth is something that is true for everyone not based on a false religiosity. I have often encountered what Nancy Pearcey calls false piety. People speak of having experienced God. But I cant verify it. And if that experience contradicts objective truth, which it often does, then it is false. For many people, a paranormal experience they have had trumps all objective truth. They are special to God, and you cant tell them anything. I was struck by all of this, because it had long since become clear to me that Christianity had completely lost touch with its roots. And I dont mean its Hebrew roots, or its Jewish origins. I mean its roots in objective truth. Like everyone else, Christians have been marginalized by the culture they live in. It is very much the in thing to do, these days, to question everything, challenge everything, and change nearly everything. In the process, what happens to people? They become disoriented and get lost in the shuffle. People everywhere find themselves dissatisfied with their church: Our church may be knowledge based, or experience based, or based on Hebrew Roots, or based on group participation, or on extemporaneous communication. When we come together as a church, it seems to me that there is a small handful of things that are of importance: worship, fellowship, service, edification. Dont allow your own personal experiences to blind side you. Understanding Objective Truth is vital to you. You need to ask for this FREE CD of Objective Truth. You would search a long time to find a better prophetic description of our own generation. As a bonus you will learn what a church founded on Jesus Christ is actually founded upon. Mark the enclosed card and return it today! Admonishing you to maintain objective truth,

About the Messiah - What did the First Christians believe about Jesus? He was the Messiah, of course.
But he was more than that. In the Psalms, the name of God is used alongside the descriptive Adonai, or Lord: Jehovah said to my Lord. What Jesus said, citing Psalm 110, we only have in Greek: Kurios said to my Kurios. At the time, it was considered improper to speak the Holy Name in public, and Jesus obviously did not. Nevertheless, the Pharisees immediately saw the problem with the Psalm in that David referred to the Messiah as his Lord. Our question is, how did the First Christians understand it? Peter understood Jesus to be both Lord and Christ. Learn from this fascinating Born to Win broadcast how the identification of Jesus as Lord establishes his divinity.

Out of Darkness - How could a woman like Mother Theresa live her life in doubt of Gods love for her?
So many of us live out our lives with doubt of one kind or another, but there is a difference between doubt and unbelief. The most honest people admit their doubts. It is possible to love Jesus, to serve him, to do what you think he wants you to do, and yet not know him very well at all. He makes it clear that faith is not a feeling. It is a decision to trust in spite of feelings. King David, a man after Gods own heart, cried out to God not to be silent to him. Its imperative that you understand what Jesus requires of you. This message from Ron Dart lays it out clearly.

Absence of Holiness - In spite of all we say about grace, in spite of all we know about salvation
salvation is by grace through faith and not of workswe still find warnings in the Bible about things which, if not followed, will keep us from ever seeing God. Please dont misunderstand, salvation is by grace through faith and not a matter of works. But we have this statement from Hebrews, Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. This means there is something for us to do, a way we should walk. This message will bring you new insights on the objective of chastisement and why its important to you. Another great benefit youll receive from this sermon by Ron Dart is how to avoid legalistic nitpicking and selfrighteousness while following holiness.

Love and Law - After God created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden, they were just fine
with a hundred trees. However, there was one tree they were to strictly avoid, but they didnt. Were still paying for that mistake today. David said, Oh! How love I thy law. When you begin reading through the Bible, it isnt long before you come up against the Law of God. But it seems to be a quirk of human nature that we dont like to do as we are told, even when compliance is entirely voluntary. When investing, you always do better where you have an edge in that particular field. You, too, can have an edge in this life. This Born to Win program lays out how you can get it.
