1. History of the organization: WTO stands for the World Trade Organization.

It was founded on 1st January 1995 President of WTO: Supachai Panitchpakdi ( Thailand) Its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The total number of WTO from all over the world has nearly 153 (23/3/2010). Its first name is GATT ( General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade). After that it was changed into ITO ( INTERNATIONAL TRADE OGRANIZATION) and finally is WTO (WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION). Its first members: 23 2.Its main goals: +WTO was established to promote the growth of trade and services in the world + It also helps to resolve disputes, commercial disputes between member countries within the framework of the multilateral trading system + Its final goal is to raise living standards, supply more jobs for people in the world. 3.Its main principles: Laws and regulations must be clear. Therefore, Transparency is the primary principle of WTO.

A second key principle of the WTO rulebook is nondiscrimination. A third principle is progressive trade liberalization through negotiation.
Finally, It provides some incentives for developing nation members. 4. Achievements in the world and ind VN: + VNs economic has grown since it joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in many things. Vietnam has gained many opportunities and obtained many significant achievements + The most outstanding achievements are the growth and stability of the economy. The economy of VN increase impressively since becoming a member of WTO, which 8,5% in 2007 and 6,2% in 2008 . In 2009 despite the global economic crisis, it saw a growth rate of 5,3% + The rising position of VN in the international arena and in relationship with important partners as Japan, China, the US, the EU, Russia, ASEAN +VN has attracted more than 40000 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth over 114 billion dollars. + VN is among 12 countries in the world that saw positive economic growth despite the global economic downturn and crisis and other positive signs as the

opening and development of financial market and the recovery of real estate market + VN has maintained stable exports growth over the past 3 years despite the difficulties caused by the global economic downturn. The export and import in 2008-2009 reached 150 billion dollar , account for over 160% of GDP + VN goods have been exported widely to 150 countries and territory, which many sector benefiting from WTO member ship including labor intensive industries such as clothing, electronic + Thanks to WTO member ship VN has successfully improved it institutions adjusted regulations and implemented its commitments . 5. The positive and negative effects of WTO on the worlds issues in general and on VN in particular *VN Positive :-Vietnam economy has changed positively in recent years. - Vietnam is increasingly attracting many investors in the world , and becomes one of the countries that speed up the economy strongly . - Have more opportunities to learn science and technology , management skills from many modern countries. - WTO protects VN from being treated unequally in international commercial disputes. .. Negative: However, Vietnam is facing difficult issues such as - Difficutly in reforming administration and freeing commercial to suit for WTO - Goods and services of VietNam will be competed strictly by those of other countries. -Some economic sectors in the country may also encounter difficulties in adjusting the competitive pressures arising from the commitment of Vietnam with WTO *In the world: +Help the worlds economy works smoothly and develop rapidly. + Give all members more chances of cooperating with each others in many sectors of economy
