ALL-PURPOSE Tray Palmer, 6-2, 173, Brown Deer junior All-Woodland Blue choice named honorable-mention All State by WFCA. posted 40 solo tackles and eight interceptions on defense, with nine knockdowns, a forced fumble and two recovered fumbles. made 37 catches on offense for 615 yards (16.6 per catch) with 10 touchdowns. DEFENSIVE BACK Reggie Blakely, 5-10, 160, Greenfield junior First-team Woodland Black choice finished with 37 solo tackles and 17 assists along with four interceptions, 10 knockdowns, four blocked kicks and two forced fumbles returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown, part of 126 yards of interception return yardage. returned eight kicks for 175 yards. earning interest from Michigan State and Northern Illinois. DEFENSIVE BACK Josh Breider, 6-0, 155, Muskego junior First-team All State choice by the WFCA. came away with eight interceptions, including two against Kenosha Bradford, and did not allow a touchdown pass all season. shut down teams top receiving options with regularity. coach Ken Krause called him the best defensive back hes ever coached. DEFENSIVE BACK Dylan Nogalski, 5-10, 158, Franklin senior Made up for his small stature with fierce hitting ability. took home All Southeast Conference honors for 8-3 Sabers that allowed just 13.9 points per game. finished with 82 total tackles (50 solo), with two interceptions and four passes defended. COACH OF THE YEAR Drake Zortman, Messmer/Shorewood Zortman only landed the job in late June but hit the ground running, establishing a leadership council among the teams seniors and getting them to believe that they could be winners, which was a tall order in a program that has had a revolving door of coaches and little tradition of excellence in the last 20 years. The result was a competitive 4-5 record and the Greyhounds first WIAA state playoff berth in 30 years. DEFENSIVE LINEMAN Mike Tomasino, 6-4, 221, Franklin senior First-team All Southeast Choice one of three returning starters on Sabers defense amassed 62 tackles (37 solo), 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. helped Franklin to league-best 13.9 points per game defensive average. LINEBACKER Drake Barczak, 5-10, 216, Greendale senior Top vote-getter at linebacker in the Woodland Black Division. tallied up 98 tackles (38 solo) and forced three fumbles, with two recoveries, a defensive touchdown, 5.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. two-time first-team All Conference choice.
