Lillian is the President of LL Communications, whereby she does Social Analysis, Citizen Activism, and Empowerment & Motivational Speaking. Current Project: Fix Florida's Civil Rights Act Petition - A statewide citizen activism effort lobbying Florida's legislature to incorporate a provision to Florida's Civil Rights Act that prohibits workplace discrimination based upon political affiliation. Lillian most recently served as the director of Minority Affairs and Community Engagement for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Her primary area of focus was community outreach with an emphasis in culturally specific programming. With the assistance of community partnerships and agency collaborations, Lillian designed, developed, and coordinated the implementation of educational and empowerment programs and project models that countered the causational risk factors associated with disproportionality in child welfare. Past Projects: Breaking the Cycle Initiative - A statewide community outreach initiative that educate and empower communities to create an environment that safely reduce the number of minority children entering state care, reinforce family reunification, and reduce system dependency. Think About This! Project - As part of a statewide teen pregnancy prevention initiative, the Think About This! documentary is currently being utilized as an educational training tool to assist youth serving agencies as part of their teen pregnancy prevention efforts. Designed the WorkReady! Employability Training project model and the Employment Partner model which is being utilized by DCF's Operation Full Employment Initiative. Lead in the development of Think About This! a documentary on teen pregnancy that focus on the realities and challenges of teen parenthood. She also served on the planning committee for the annual Preventing Crime in the Black Community Conference sponsored by the Florida Attorney Generals Office and as Vice Chair for the Florida Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys. Lillian previously worked 7 years as the Education Special Projects Coordinator of Educational & Mentoring Initiatives for the Florida Attorney Generals Office. During her tenure she developed and implemented the M.O.A.R. (Making Opportunities by Accepting Responsibilities) Character Development Program, focusing on school achievement, personal development, and community involvement; and the Tomorrows Woman Mentoring Program, focusing on career development of young women. Lillian holds a masters degree in Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and Human Development; and a bachelors degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology. She is also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Her personal accomplishments include: Recipient of the 2008 USF Women's Leadership Award, Featured on Bay News 9 as an Everyday Hero, Local Honoree of the Eckerd Salute to Women, and Ms. Florida United States, 1998.
