ntroduction
I. Is being educated and having wide perspective is the same?
II. The part oI having broad perspective is to be Iamiliar with art architecture Ior example.
Architecture it is the science and the art oI design.
III. Today I would like you to introduce you with the liIe and architecture oI A. Gaudi.

Body
I. The liIe oI Antonio Gaudi.
A. Spanish Catalan Architect born in 1852.
B. Youngest son oI coppersmith, Antonio graduated Irom scuela Superior de
Arquitectura in Barcelona in 1878.
C. His personal liIe.
1. While he was young he had expensive liIestyle - expensive suits, horse carriages,
gourmet Iood, but it changed drastically over the years. He oIten Iasted, wore
worn clothes and looked like a beggar.
2. He remained single all his liIe and devoted his liIe to architecture and Iaith
Catholicism.
D. He died at the age oI seventy Iour when he got struck by the tram.
II. Interesting Iacts about his liIe
A. He did average in the school and sometimes Iailed courses.
B. When he was graduating Irom the University the proIessor said that Gaudi was either
Iool or genius. Time supposed to show. These words became legendary.
C. In 1998 archbishop oI Barcelona canonized A. Gaudi.
D. In 1883, aIter Iinishing his project on Casa Vicens he met usebio Guell, who
became a Iinancial sponsor Ior Gaudi`s projects.
. He was involved into politics and was beaten by the police twice in a riot and
demonstrations.
F. When the tram hit him no one paid attention to Gaudi as he was dressed in rags and
he didn`t receive the immediate attention.



III. His style
A. According to general classiIication Gaudi`s works belongs to 'modernism.
B. In reality, it is hard to put Gaudi`s style in Irames oI any style. He had special style,
which lived and developed next to modern but on its own laws and rules.
C. The walls, windows and rooIs on his buildings are bending and curving, reminding
mysterious animals, plants and rocks.

IV. His architectural heritage
A. In 1883 he Iinished 'his Iirst important building, Casa Vincens.
1. Has an oriental trend and reminds castles Irom Arabic '1000 nights with red
walls and colorIul tiles.
B. Casa Batlo one oI the most interesting and unusual houses in Barcelona.
C. Casa Mila his important achievement.
D. His 'magnum opus Sagrada da Famiglia
A. Began building in 1883, still incomplete.
B. The church is UNSCO World Heritage site.
C. Critics R. Zelbst and P. Goldberger said that it is impossible to Iind a church like
that and extraordinary interpretation oI Gothic since Middle Ages.
D. Has over 2500 millions oI visitors annually.
