Singing and Dancing of Tinikling and Paru-Parong Bukid

Presenters: Kyla Isabel Evangelista Samuel San Pedro Mikaela Evangelista Sheryl Mae Reyes All: Kyla: Samuel: Mika: Sheryl: All: Good morning! Ohayou! Magandang Umaga! Im Kyla. Im Samuel. Im Mika. And Im Sheryl. (ICA pupils sing and dance Tinikling.) Welcome to ICA! Today were going to learn how to sing and dance the two Filipino folk songs Tinikling and Paru-Parong Bukid. Mika: That was great! Now lets learn how to dance it. The music is in triple meter, so we have to count 1, 2, 3 from beginning to the end of the music. Sheryl: The bamboo clappers will move their bamboo poles like this: Close Open Open, Close Open Open, continuously. Samuel: We will dance Tinikling first. Watch and observe the dance steps. After we sing and dance, you can try it, too! Philippines as an imitation of the tikling bird.

Kyla: But before we start singing the songs, lets play the game Kabit-kabit, Dikit-Dikit. The aim of the game is to transfer all the coins from the table to the coin bank using your index fingers only. Samuel: Lets divide the class into three groups. (Teachers help in dividing the class.) Lock each others arms by doing like this: (ICA pupils demonstrate.) Pass the coin using your index fingers only. (ICA pupils demonstrate.)Then, put the coins inside the coin bank on the other table.

(Bamboo clappers move their bamboo poles Close Open Open continuously.) Kyla: Next, this is how you dance it.
(Presenter/dancer demonstrates the basic Tinikling steps.)

You can go here and try it. We will help you dance Tinikling!

Mika: The first team who finishes gets 15 points. Second team gets 10 and the last will get 5. Well play three rounds. The team with the highest score wins the game! Lets start the game! Are you all ready? (Wait for the kids response.) 1, 2, 3... go! Sheryl: Did you enjoy the game? (Wait for the kids response.) Great! Now lets study how to dance Tinikling. Tinikling involves two clappers hitting bamboo poles on the ground. The dancers then jump over the bamboo poles.

(ICA pupils help the MJS pupils dance Tinikling.) Mika: Theres another music that you can dance with Tinikling. The title of this Filipino folk song is Paruparong Bukid. Sheryl: Its a song about a lady who is compared to a butterfly in the farm. Watch us sing and dance it.

(ICA pupils sing and dance Paru-Parong Bukid. MJS pupils can also try dancing it.) All: Thank you for singing with us! We hope that you enjoyed singing the Filipino folk songs! Arigatou gozaimasu! Maraming salamat!
