COPYRIGHT USER AGREEMENT COVENTRY CATHEDRAL

Coventry Cathedral is unique in that all the buildings within its precinct and all the works of art, whether on the exterior walls or contained inside them are owned by the Chapter and are therefore covered by the Cathedrals copyright. Images of the Cathedral or its works of art are subject to this over-riding copyright and except for private use may not be published without the specific written permission of the Chapter. Permission to use or publish images of the Cathedral or its works of art is usually very restrictive being confined to one purpose for each application. Use of such images in a commercial context will depend on the payment of appropriate fees and/or royalties to the Cathedral under the attached contract, which has been agreed by all parties. It is also mandatory that all images used in this way must acknowledge that permission has been obtained from the Cathedral authorities and identify that the owner of the copyright is Coventry Cathedral. The basic fee for taking photographs on the Cathedral site is 50 + VAT, and 100.00 + VAT for filming, per day. The basic fee is payable upfront on confirmation of booking. The minimum fee for commercial use of Cathedral images is 50 + VAT per image for up to 5,000 uses of an image in cases where no more than 500 is made from that usage. The minimum fee for commercial use of Cathedral film footage is 250 + VAT. Please also note: the Cathedral is visited by over 10,000 children each year and it is imperative that none of them are filmed/photographed in line with our Child Protection Policy. We also request that no adults are filmed or photographed without their knowledge or permission. The Cathedral will require copies of licences for employed children being filmed on its premises.

Purpose of filming/recording and how will it be used? This project is for my Coventry university project about the power of prayer. This is purely a class project and won't be used for any commercial purposes. It will be uploaded online to my Vimeo account so that my classmates and lectures can feedback on my work. I have filmed actors praying instead of filming people praying, as I have to consider sensitivity issues. Restrictions on use: Images are not to be used for commercial use. I hereby acknowledge and understand how the images/audio of/at Coventry Cathedral and/or its works of art may be used and I agree to only use them for the purpose stated above. I agree to a fee of 250 + VAT for filming / 50 + VAT per image for photography (delete as appropriate). I understand that any further use of the cathedral, or commercial use of the resulting images/audio, will be subject to a separate agreement and negotiation of further fees.
