Obama brews his own beer at the White House

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV newslite.tv

Barack Obama has once again made history -- this time by becoming the first US President to brew his own beer in the White House. Historians say Obamas White House Honey Ale -- which lists honey from White House bees as an ingredient -- marks the first time 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has been used as a micro-brewery. Produced with equipment the Obamas have paid for with their own money, the brew was recently enjoyed when Obama sat down with war hero Sgt Dakota Meyer ahead of awarding him the Medal of Honor. But it was first served at their Super Bowl party earlier this year where guests managed to drink the entire first batch of 90-100 bottles prompting an embarrassing trip to the off-license.

Robber arrested after returning for favourite coat

Smugglers hand off drugs through new border fence (AP)

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV

A dumb would-be armed robber was caught by police after he returned to the scene of his attempted crime -- to get his coat back. Anthony Gorman, 21, is said to tried robbing a store by threatening staff with a gun, but fled empty-handed after being fought off. During the tussle, his grey jacket was ripped off and left on the floor when he ran away from the scene. But a few minutes later the dopey gunman sheepishly returned to the store and asked if he could have his 200 coat back. Unfortunately for him the shopkeeper said Are you stupid? No, you cant have it get out. Gorman was later arrested and jailed for five and a half years for aggravated burglary and possessing an imitation firearm.

NOGALES, Ariz. A new type of border fence is apparently forcing drug smugglers to change the way they move their cargo from Mexico to the U.S. The Nogales International (http://bit.ly/mRuTNi) reports that law enforcement officers in Arizona recently noticed that some bundles of marijuana they seized were oddly shaped. Lt. Gerry Castillo of the Santa Cruz County Metro Task Force says investigators first thought the 48 pounds of marijuana wrapped in thin tubular packages had been prepared for easy transport through a tunnel. But the bundles werent dirty. Thats when investigators realized the packages had likely been passed between the bars of the new border fence. It features concrete-filled steel tubes with an approximately 4-inch space between them. The new $11.6 million, 2.8-mile fence near Nogales was completed this summer.

Man buries pet cat uncovers C4 explosives

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV

Organisers of the Road Cycling World Championships in Denmark were shocked when, hours before the start of the race, they realised part of the course had disappeared. It turned out an overly keen road sweeper thought someone had gratified the road outside Copenhagen city hall and cleaned it off. A spokesperson said: We went to sleep yesterday with a good feeling of being all and well prepared. But we woke up facing the challenge of a road sweeper by accident having destroyed the finish line. It took two hours to re-establish the finish line and clean oil which had been spilt over other part of the course oddly the road sweeper had ignored that.

When Adrian Ayers tried to bury his recently deceased pet cat in Ohio, its safe to say things didnt exactly go as planned. Thats because as he dug a final resting place for the kitty he unearthed a metal box containing C4 explosives and bullets -prompting a bomb scare. Bomb squad officers were called after the discovery and residents were evacuated from a two city block radius until the explosives were removed. Firemen were also needed to block traffic and keep unsuspecting pedestrians out of harms way. It was later revealed the box contained five three-quarter sticks of TNT -- which could have seen the remains of the cat blown high into the sky.

Meet the worlds largest natural afro hair-do

Rock-eating dog wins annual dumb pet award

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV

Something tells us Aevin Dugas has a problem getting through some doorways, because she is the proud owner of the largest natural afro in the world. With a circumference measuring an incredible 4 ft. 4 in (1.32 m) the impressive hair-do has apparently taken over 12 years to grow. Its now larger than a traditional disco ball and so big the 36-yearold social worker from New Orleans could even fit the worlds shortest man inside! Aevin says having such a big hairstyle can be problematic, Its always getting caught in trees, and one time I even slammed my hair in the car door! And I hate it when people touch it without asking my permission first! However, on the upside, she added that its very comfortable to lie on in bed, It provides the perfect pillow. I sleep very well. Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday said: Guinness World Records 2012 celebrates a diverse range of extraordinary records, but certainly our human body records remain some of the most loved and talked about. I think people are really going to love this years selection.

A pug named Harley who ate, and subsequently passed, more than 100 rocks has the dubious honour of having won an annual dumb pet award. Each year bosses of a US pet insurance form like to celebrate their most unusual claim of the year by shortlisting unfortunate pets for a pubic vote. And this year the honour was bestowed on rock-eating Harley, a pug who decided to munch on stones while his owner was away and ended up filling half of his stomach. After X-rays revealed what had happened, vets discussed what action to take but as the rocks were small they decided to let him pass them naturally. A spokesperson for Veterinary Pet Insurance said: Foreign body ingestion can be a common occurrence in dogs, but Harleys incident of eating and safely passing more than 100 rocks is a rarity. Pets have an unpredictable nature. Because we cant monitor their actions or environment around the clock, one of the best things we can do as responsible pet owners is simply prepare for the unexpected. According to Lori Laverdiere, Harleys owner, her pug previously had shown little interest in ingesting things that he should not. But when she picked up Harley from the veterinarians office after a trip out of town, his bowel movements consisted only of rocks. She rushed Harley to the emergency animal hospital where X-rays revealed that he had ingested more than 100 small rocks, clogging the pugs entire intestinal tract and filling half of his stomach. Fortunately, the rocks were small enough for Harley to pass without surgery. He was kept overnight at the hospital where the veterinarian administered medication to help him expel the stones. Within a couple of days, Harley made a complete recovery. Ive had Harley for 6 years, since he was a puppy, and hes never done anything like this, said Lori. It just goes to show that you never really know what dogs will do, so you have to be prepared for everything. I love this dog more than anything and Im so grateful that hes OK.

Saudi restaurant fines diners over their left-overs

SOURCE: NEWSLITE.TV

A restaurant in Saudi Arabia has started fining diners who fail to finish their meals -- in a bid to discourage greed. Bosses at Marmar Restaurant in Dammam are said to vary the level of leftover charge depending on how much food has been left on the plate. The bizarre move was reportedly introduced after it was noticed some customers ordered excessively large meals in a bid to impress people around them. Its hoped the odd charges will combat high levels of food wastage in Saudi Arabia and discourage extravagant orders. Would the fear of a fine encourage you to order less food? We think its just a good excuse to pick a few extra chips of our partners plate. 4 BuGils Bi-Weekly - Issue #42 - October 5, 2011

Been laying here for the past 10 minutes watching that stupid little curser blink, mocking me. Blink, blink, blink. There it is, there it isnt, there it is, there it isnt. Whatever happened to that stupid little paper clip that came with Word and was supposed to help you out but just kinda pissed you off. You know, you hate them when theyre there but then when theyre gone you miss em. Why would someone miss hating something? Stupid little paper clip. He could be helping write this fricken newsletter with his stupid tapping the screen, offering stupid little suggestions that you didnt need. But now that Word is so complicated hed be my savior. Like how come when I press return Word skips a line? If you do a carriage return on a typewriter it would just give you a new line, not skip a line. Stupid little Clippy could be helping me with that. It seems with every new version of Windows they take a little more fun out of it. Remember Windows After Dark with the screen savers, animated icons and pointers or Windows Plus!. I liked all that crazy stuff on my computer before. Computers were way more exciting 20 years ago. Now all you do is stupid facebook that keeps changing every month. Geez man, stick with one thing for a while. I wonder what would happen to the world if the facebook server blew up and all the data was lost. (evil laugh) I used to have more fun on my 486 computer with a 14400 Kbps modem and 200MB hard drive running DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1. Messing around with Config.sys and Autoexec.bat so your sound card and joystick would work properly in games. DRVSPACE disk compression and Norton Tools, playing games that I downloaded from a BBS. Then the stupid internet came along and ruined everything. You had to dialup back them, remember that? BEEP BEEP KRSHSHSHSHS. Man that stuff was exciting. Wonder if theres still dialup servers out there? First time I saw a 256 color picture on a computer I almost pooped myself. Its so strange what old people will be talking about in another 20 years. Back in my day we use to have a little paper clip that would pop up on the screen and help you out, now-a-days you just gotta figure it out on your own. Thanks for making De Hooi Southern Jakartas favorite beer joint.

Cheers,

Harry
