Pursuant to Local Rule 32.4, the Anti-Defamation League and twenty-one other religious organizations (the Amici) respectfully request permission to file an amicus curiae brief in excess of the 7,000 word limit specified in Fed. R. App. P. 29(d). In support of this motion, the Amici state as follows: 1. The Amici wish to file an amicus curiae brief on November 3 that includes statements of interest for the Anti-Defamation League and each of the twenty-one other religious organizations joining in the brief. 2. Without the statements of interest, the brief falls within the word limit specified in Fed. R. App. P. 29(d). But with the statements of interest included, the word count surpasses the limit. 3. On October 31, 2011, counsel telephoned the Clerks Office and was informed that statements of interest, even if placed in an appendix, would be included in the 7,000 word count. The Clerks Office recommended instead filing the present motion. 4. The Amici wish to provide the Court with complete information about each signing organizations interest in the outcome of the case. Accordingly, Amici respectfully request that the Court permit the filing of an oversize brief.
