PLEASE NOTE that this site is maintained as a convenience to users of the Earth & Planetary Sciences computer network, not as a service to provide shareware to the world. There may be newer versions of the programs located on this site. For the latest versions of the software found here, please check with the developer of the programs or one of the Internet services that provide shareware or links to shareware sources like Tucows or CNET's shareware.com. Files here come in several types. y y y ZIP files are compressed and must be "UnZipped" to a temporary installation directory, then installed in a second step (usually by running a SETUP program). EXE files are usually self-installing programs which are placed in a temporary installation directory and run to start an installation process. There are also a few Adobe Acrobat (PDF extension) and text files (TXT extension) which contain important information about some of the programs installation routines.

Files are located in subdirectories as shown below. Each filename in the list is linked to the file on the site. Just click on the linked filename to initiate the download. If you want to download PDF and TXT files, you will need to right-click your mouse (Mac users hold it down a few seconds) then select "Copy Link to" or "Copy Link Location" to download it instead of viewing it in your browser. The directory PUB contains information about what is available and utilities to deal with compressed (ZIP) files. Additional utilities to deal with other types of compressed files (.ARJ, .LHA) are in the /PUB/UTILITY directory. Intel-based Macintoshes
My MacOS X programs work well under Rosetta emulation technology on the new Intel-based Macintoshes. FaultFold, for example, feels "about as fast" on a core duo iMac as it does on my 1.67 Ghz G4 PowerBook, and runs much faster still on my quad core Mac Pro. It will be quite a bit longer (probably years) before any of my programs are Intel native, except for SSPX, which is already Intel-native. This swtich will involve very substantial development time and cost to me and right now I'm having too much fun doing science! My Mac Classic programs (Microstructure, MacStress, and MacStrat) will NOT work on Intel-based Macs. If there is interest, I may port these to MacOS X (PowerPC) so that they, too can run under Rosetta. Email me if you are particularly interested in having me do this.
