Joy to the World!

2.

Joy to the earth! The Savior+ reigns: Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, repeat, repeat the sounding joy. No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow, Far as the curse is found,+ Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as the curse is found. He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders of His love.

32

2.

Christ, by highest heavn adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord! Late in time behold Him come, Offspring+ of the Virgins womb.+ Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;+ Hail th incarnate Deity,+ Pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.+ Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory+ to the newborn King. Hail the heavn-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, Risn with healing in His wings. Mild He lays His glory by,+ Born that man no more may die, Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory+ to the newborn King.

Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.James 5:13b

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the singing announcement about Your Son. I want to be a happy herald and sing about Your kingdom. Even though I am small, I want to use my voice to tell my friends about the Prince of Peace. Amen.

O Little Town of Bethlehem

38

2.

For Christ is born of Mary; and gathered all above, While mortals+ sleep, the angels keep their watch+ of wondring love. O morning stars, together proclaim the holy birth! And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth. How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is givn! So God imparts to human hearts+ the blessings of His heavn. No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin, Where meek souls+ will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in. O holy child of Bethlehem, descend to us,+ we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in; be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings+ tell; O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel.+

A Verse for My Heart

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.Micah 5:2

A Prayer from My Heart

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us songs in the night. They comfort me when Im afraid or I cant get to sleep. Help me to learn the words to this special Christmas hymn so I can sing myself to sleep . . . just like a lullaby for a baby! Amen.

The First Noel

44

2.

They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east, beyond them far; And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. And by the light of that same star, Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a king was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. This star drew nigh to the northwest, Oer Bethlehem+ it took its rest, And there it did both stop and stay, Right over the place where Jesus lay. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. Then entered in those wise men three, Full revrently upon their knee, And offered there in His presence Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense.+ Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. Then let us all with one accord+ Sing praises to our heavnly Lord, That hath made heavn and earth of naught,+ And with His blood+ mankind+ hath brought. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

A Verse for My Heart

The heavens declare the glory+ of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.Psalm 19:1-2

A Prayer from My Heart

Father in Heaven, when I look at the heavens I see Your majesty. You created all the stars and call them by name. You made me, and You know my name. Thank You for telling me how to live when I ask You for directions. I trust You with all my heart. Amen.

Away in a Manger

2.

The cattle are lowing,+ the baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus no crying He makes; I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.+

3.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray; Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care, And fit us for heaven,+ to live with Thee there.

A Verse for My Heart

For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble+ with salvation. Let the godly exult in glory;+ let them sing for joy on their beds.Psalm 149:4-5

A Prayer from My Heart

Lord Jesus, help me to learn this Christmas what it means to be humble. If You could be born in a little manger among barn animals, then I can be content with simple things too. Help me not to want a lot of stuff this Christmas; instead, I want to be happy with my family and friends and whatever You choose to give. Thank You, Jesus! Amen.

2.

He came down to earth from heaven who is God and Lord of all, And His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall:+ With the poor, and mean, and lowly,+ lived on earth our Savior+ holy.

3.

And through all His wondrous childhood He would honor and obey, Love and watch the lowly maiden+ in whose gentle arms He lay: Christian children all must be mild, obedient, good as He.

68

4.

And our eyes at last shall see Him, through His own redeeming+ love; For that child so dear and gentle is our Lord in heavn above, And He leads His children on to the place where He is gone.+ Not in that poor lowly stable, with the oxen standing by, We shall see Him, but in heaven, set at Gods right hand on high; + When like stars His children crowned all in white + shall wait around.

Help me not to draw attention to myself, but guide me as I point people to You. I love You for being so generous! Amen.
