HIGH BUILD WATERBORNE TRAFFIC PAINT

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This is the most durable and reflective waterborne system available today. It utilizes the newest 3rd generation acrylic emulsions, designed for application at a rate of up to 30 mils (.762mm or 762 microns) wet film thickness using airless equipment and conventional air atomized equipment without cracking. This thicker application rate enables the use of larger beads which normally improve the retroreflectivity, enhance the no track time to virtually the same as a regular 15 mil wet line, and provides superior durability over standard 15 mil lines. This product meets the requirements of TT-P-1952E Type III. It offers all of the benefits of a water reducible paint, and quickly dries to a no track condition. Available in white and lead free yellow. Filled in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums (1 US gallon = 3.785 litres). RECOMMENDED FOR: On airports: Runways and Taxiways. On roads: Lane lines, edge lines and centre lines on both asphalt and concrete where high visibility and durability are required. Use instead of EP Series paint where application thicker than a wet film thickness of 15 mils (.38mm or 380 microns) is required. COVERAGE: 1 US Gallon yields 55 metres of 10cm stripe @ .71mm (711 microns). This equates to 14.5 metres per litre. In square metre terms, the coverage rates are: @380 micron thickness Per litre 1.45m2 Per US gallon 5.5m2 These figures are based on application on good quality surface under normal conditions the actual coverage will depend on conditions on the ground. BEAD APPLICATION: These paints, when applied in the 20-30 mils wet range, are designed to hold large glass beads, size of 0.8-1.3 mm, dual coated, applied at a rate of 8-12 lbs/gallon (0.94 Kg to 1.4 Kg per litre) of paint. Proper embedment is critical to this systems performance and should never be less than 50 %. DRYING TIME No Pickup in 1 to 2 minutes at 30 mils (.762mm or 762 microns). Dry Through in 30 minutes maximum.

TYPICAL PROPERTIES Viscosity KU 85-95 Percent Solids 77.5 % Minimum Percent Pigment 60.0 % minimum Density, Lbs/gallon 13.5 minimum (1.6Kg per litre) Volatile Organic Content Less than 100 g/l SURFACE PREPARATION Surface should be clean and free of loose material, as dust and dirt particles will effect the bonding of the paint to the surface. All surfaces should be dry and free of any moisture. When applying over existing lines or markings care should be taken to remove all loose or peeling paint. EXTRA CARE SHOULD BE EXERCISED WHEN SURFACE CONDITIONS HAVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF MOTOR OIL OR EXISTING EPOXY COATINGS. New asphalt and concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 30 days before the application of paint. Any curing compounds used on new concrete must be mechanically abraded off prior to striping. When striping on freshly sealed surfaces use caution as some sealers can effect the curing and adhesion of traffic paint. WEATHER CONDITIONS Surface temperature, air temperature and humidity during and after application are determining factors in the successful application and longevity of traffic marking paint. Waterborne traffic marking paints should not be applied at temperatures below 50 F or within 8 hours of any anticipated precipitation. Any application during periods of high humidity or low temperatures will greatly increase the amount of drying time required for the traffic marking paint.
