Case 2: Neighborhood is where ones life largely plays out. Where we live or work; where our friends, family, colleagues are; and where we spend 80% of our disposable income. So no doubt, Local matters.
2 1

But when we delve deeper, we realize that Local remains an unsolved problem; consumers have a tough time finding basic local information (news, events, deals, sports scores, places, maps, whatever); local newspapers are struggling; local businesses and merchants find it hard to drive foot traffic to stores, advertisers are still looking for the best ways to address a local audience.

How do you think this problem can be addressed? Is this best addressed online and how?

Prepare a recommendation to top management on: What are the opportunities for Local in India? What do you think are the challenges in Local? What it takes to address it and who is in the best position to tackle it?

1: 10 to 15-minute radius around ones location 2: US-estimates

Case 3: Mobile India is becoming one of the largest digitally connected nations. 2015 estimates for number of connected devices is of the order of 1 billion! Nearly every young Indian is going to have a mobile device in his hands. A good number of them (close to 250-300 million) is going to have some form of a data connection out there to the internet. With reducing data costs, improving literacy and variety of

devices around, the explosion on data consumption on the mobile device is going to happen. There are challenges too the number of different devices is posing a huge scale problem for companies in expanding to cover many devices. The proliferation of different platforms such as Android, Apple iOS, Blackberry RIM, Windows Mobile and the millions of Chinese based devices have made the work of digital media companies multi-fold in developing for all these platforms. As a company entering the fray, what would be the target market for you? Who is the user? What form of content will you play on? Who are the competitors? How will you distribute it to the devices given your app/service is going to be one amongst millions of other apps in whatever space you are going after? How will you be able to develop for so many different platforms? How will you monetize on the small screen? Or will you be betting on tablets?
