Appra isin g the O utlook on D estin y of Ph ilosophy before the Q in D yna sty

Abstract: The p roblem of how to treat destiny is actually a p roblem of w isdom of life and the outlook on destiny is an im 2
portant thought of the traditional philosophy of life in China. Destiny or the Decree of Heaven combined with the philosophy
of life had taken shapes since the tim e of the Confucius. In the philosophy before the Q in Dynasty, the three kinds of typ ical
outlooks on destiny rep resented by the viewpoint of understanding the Decree of Heaven of the Confucianists, the viewpoint
of subm itting to the Decree of Heaven of the Taoist School, and the viewpoint of denying the Decree of Heaven of the Mohist
School. The philosophers before the Q in Dynasty mostly treated destiny rationally. They stressed on the positively enterp ris2
ing attitude when facing their fates, and it is the mainstream of the traditional philosophy of life in China.
