The Developing Intuition Series

By Sandy Breckenridge and Kirk VandenBerghe

Inttroducttiion: Channelliing In roduc on: Channe ng

Warm aloha greetings from our home in Kauai, Hawaii. My name is Kirk VandenBerghe, and Ill be your guide as I interview Alana, who is conveyed by my partner and soul mate, Sandy Breckenridge. We are presenting a six-step learning experience which is designed to help you learn to further develop, access, and trust your intuition. First, a word about channeling: If youre like many people who have experienced channeling, youve probably had both positive and negative experiences. Sadly, many channeled energies have agendas of power and control over others. We hope that your experience with Alana is a breath of fresh air. We trust that youll sense our desire to empower your intuitionyour direct connection with Spiritrather than tell you whats true or what you should do. Our purpose is simply to help you learn to trust your heart. As we begin our discourse, note that Sandy has already blended with and will be conveying Alana-Heart as she answers the questions I present throughout this series. Who is Alana? Can you please describe this heart energy? Alana-Being is all heart If you feel the part of your nature that has the willingness to hold love, you will find your heart. If you feel the part of you that holds desire, you will feel your heart. If you feel the part of you that has the capability to know yourself, you will feel your heart. If you feel wise in the world, in the universe, and in creation, you will feel your heart.

2 The Developing Intuition Series

Alana-Tone is this same vibration coming forth so that you may know your heart. You see, many have asked to feel and remember their core vibration, which is their heart. So Alanatone willingly comes forth, blended with Sandy-Being, to be a mirror of you. Alana is here to play. Alana, what is channeling? Channeling is the willingness to allow your grander selfgrander essence, grander parts of the universeto be made conscious to, blended with, or verbalized from your being. Recognize that we channel many different aspects of our nature. We channel our Minds Hearts Feelings Emotions Parts of our self Child parts Parents

We are channeling all of the time. When you see verbal communication, like Alana-Being conveyed through Sandy, it is just that intention has brought forth this nature, this tone, and this allowing. Practice, with willingness, does allow things like this to occur, you know.

In Chapter 1 we will discuss the first of the six steps for developing intuition, grounding. As with anything else, the person who is well grounded is more likely to be successful at developing her or his intuition.

3 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 1: Groundiing Chap er 1: Ground ng

All of us have heard and used the word intuition without thinking what the word truly means and how powerful it can be. Thus, my question for Alana: What is intuition? It is important for me to mention that intuition is always present. Accessing our intuition provides a way for us to take in, and be aware of, our sensory guidance by embracing our sensitivities. As we develop our ability to tune in and connect with these subtle energies, we develop a most wonderful and useful skill. We become capable of being guided by the wisdom that comes from our inner senses through the subtle messages we receive. As we develop a greater connection with intuition, we will more easily be able to connect with Spirit, our Angels, and additional guides. Intuition is a powerful form for gathering information that can be put to many uses in our day-to-day living. I must also mention that when we are creative, our intuition is very present. Since intuition is always present, why do so many of us have trouble receiving or trusting these intuitive messages? Though every person has the ability to develop his or her intuition, some people receive a clearer signal than others. The reason this happens is because some people embrace their sensitivities, and the information that is transmitted to them is more easily translated from their deeper senses. In contrast, other people become much more focused on their mental realms. They give more value to the attachments they have to their mental dialogues. The more individuals are grounded and centered, (centering will be discussed in the next chapter), the easier it is for them to embrace and allow their subtle sensitivities to arise in their attention. The more people practice becoming mentally aware of that which is beyond their minds, the more they will be able to be guided by the wonderful, wise aspects of their full natures! In other words, intuition is the process of allowing information that originates from the background, outside someones awareness, to come into the foreground, inside the persons awareness? Yes, thats a wonderful way to put it!

4 The Developing Intuition Series

Thanks. Where do you feel is the best place to begin developing ones intuition? First we must set our mental judgments aside and plan on having fun! We must learn to disengage, (not discard), the aspects of our mental reasoning that love to catalog and categorize. These aspects of our being often discount the subtle intuitive messages that we receive and label them as imagination. As we play with practicing our intuition, it doesnt matter if we receive from our imagination. Its okay to make things up! By temporarily setting aside our minds labels, we can actually create a safe space to explore, have fun, and exercise our senses. Imagine that we are joining a summer camp for youth. In this camp we are going to engage in recreation. Through play and lightness, we are going to explore our intuition in a very fun and enjoyable way. We are going to reserve our mental judgments for tasks that transform judgment into discernment. We are going to set aside those aspects and ask them to refrain from limiting what we perceive through our senses. Later in this series we will encourage the mind to become a wonderful questioner so that it can instill and stir up a greater desire to learn how to become aware of our intuition. The mind and its mental processing is not the enemy of intuitive development. In future lessons well learn how to befriend all aspects of our being, especially any judgmental or critical parts. Now that we have the basis for our exploration defined, we can begin developing our intuition by having a wonderful intention to do so. Is that intention to let go of judgment and our minds limiting beliefs and to allow ourselves to play like a child? Yes. In a sense, the development of intuition is an art form. It is a skill and something an individual can develop through having an intention to do so. Children are so very creative. Who knows better how to play than a child? Lets start with grounding, the first of our six steps in developing intuition. Define and describe what you mean by grounding. Grounding is an implied action that invokes a state of being. Essentially, when we are grounded, we move into a state of being. When an individual identifies with the elements of grounding, she/he becomes aware of her/his physical body and its connection to Mother Earth. Grounding is a state where individuals become connected to the present moment while noticing their physical bodies and becoming aligned with, and aware of, their connections to the earth. So we literally come to our senses in the present moment. Lets suppose someone is having a very busy day and the person has a lot on his/her mind. Is there something tangible a person can do to move into this state of groundedness?

5 The Developing Intuition Series

Yes. The first things a person can do are to exhale deeply and then take a nice deep breath. Breathing deeply is a natural method to begin connecting the body to Mother Earth. As they become conscious of their breathing, they will automatically begin livening their senses. They can begin to notice their bodiestheir toes, knees, elbows, nose, and so on. Then they can begin to become aware of the space within which their bodies exist. As people become aware of their beautiful bodies and the bodys connection to Mother Earth, they can invite their senses to awaken to this connection. They can do this in many ways. For instance, a person could feel his/her body sitting in a chair and then notice his/her feet touching the ground. The person could next sense a cord connecting him/her to Mother Earth. Theres no one right way to ground, and creativity is encouraged. Can you say a little more about how we can invoke our senses to become even more engaged in the process? Yes. While intending to notice the body and its connection to the earth, one can become aware which of the five senses comes up in ones thoughts. For some people, it will be quite kinesthetic, involving the sense of touch. For example, as they ground they may feel more solid and a bit heavier. Or they may notice lightness and a sensation in their hearts as they begin to feel calm and serene. A lovely way to ground may be to connect with ones pet, hold it in her/his lap, and lovingly stroke its fur. Doing so can bring these people to the moment and connect them to their senses. Nature has a wonderful way of invoking connection. Another person may be more visual; this persons perceptions may notice more acutely the leaves on the trees and the beauty around him/her. Or visually oriented people may visualize and sense their bodies from a birds-eye view. One might see her/his body in the chair, then notice the chairs connection to the floor, the floors connection to the foundation of the home, and finally the foundations connection to the earth. Still another person may prefer to connect more through his/her sense of hearing, becoming aware and grounded by sensing the wind moving through the trees and the subtle noises in the neighborhood. Yet another may enjoy the sense of smell and engage with the essence of flowers floating through the breeze. Even the sense of taste can be used to ground energy in the present moment. And of course, we can combine awareness of our various senses. In this first step where we learn to ground, it is very beautiful that the senses that deliver us intuitive information are invoked through our intention to ground. As we learn to ground, we can notice which combinations of our five senses we tend to favor. But what if a person has a hard time identifying what her/his preferred sense is? What would you suggest to this individual?

Copyright 1994 - 2005 by HeartCore Corporation

6 The Developing Intuition Series

I suggest that these individuals explore their different senses, play, and have fun! By exploring their various senses, people will usually find one or two senses that are more exciting for them to explore. Could you summarize the process and what you are inviting people to practice so that they are ready to move onto the second step (centering and releasing)? Yes. I am inviting people to form an intention to connect with their intuition while having fun. This is the suggested overall intention of the entire series. Pretend, imagine, and play. Dont get serious or make a big deal out of this process. Instead, allow it to be like a fun recreational experience and adventure. After creating this fun, playful space of willingness and openness, continue by practicing moving into a grounded state. Begin with the breath by exhaling fully, then breathing deeply while noticing the awakening of the senses. The repetitive breaths will support an individual in coming into the Now. Notice the connection to Mother Earth in whatever ways that arise. Can you provide some tangible examples? Sure. Someone might find that listening to some melodic music and dancing heighten his or her senses. Another person might connect to her/his body, the earth, and the present moment by playing with her/his dog or cat. Then there is also meditation, such as sitting in a chair, becoming aware of each breath, and directing thoughts into the present moment. It is important to allow the imagination space to play. From this feeling of lightness people can discover how many ways they can invoke states where their natures feel grounded, present, and connected to Mother Earth. Have a joyous experience, everyone! Practice through play. Now I have a question for you, Kirk. Do you know why angels can fly? No. Why can angels fly? Because they take themselves lightly!

*************
As Alana says, please practice through play. What she has shared with us in this chapter will also prepare us for the second step, which is covered in Chapter 2. There we will learn to center our being more deeply and release our limitations.

7 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 2: Centteriing and Relleasiing Chap er 2: Cen er ng and Re eas ng

Alana, is there anything you would like to add for those who experienced difficulty in applying the exercises covered in the previous chapter? Yes, Kirk. I have a wonderful list of suggested affirmations that can help empower people in their intent to ground. I feel these affirmations will assist greatly with grounding and building momentum for future steps in this series. I invite everyone to read them all at once, whether aloud or silently to themselves. After consciously affirming them for a while, the following affirmations can easily become unconscious intentions. I am aware of the present moment... I am aware of what I see, outside and inside... I am aware of what I hear, outside and inside I am aware of what I taste and smell I am aware of how my body feels My senses are centered within my body My energy is connected to the earths energy.

Very good. The affirmations acknowledge and create a wonderful bridge to lead us to the next step, where we become centered in our bodies and release any blockages that might get in the way of accessing and developing our intuitive senses. This leads us to the next step in developing intuition: Centering and releasing. Alana, would you introduce us to this step? Yes. We want to fully create a space within our beings in which to allow our intuition room to express. After we have moved into a grounded, centered state, we must get in touch with aspects of our nature that might place limits on our ability to access our intuition. Tell us more about this. What might hold us back? Many things. Limitations can include fear, doubt, expectation, control, attachment, block, opinion, judgment, scarcity, etc. I have a concern regarding this step. Could someone get stuck at this point by spending too much time analyzing rather than deepening and realizing intuitive abilities? Yes, if we stay in the mind and analyze, we will surely block the flow. We are actually more interested in creating the space to notice what limiting responses we may have. Then we can easily balance what we notice by breathing through the limiting energy, which will dispel its efforts to stop the flow of our intuition.

8 The Developing Intuition Series

I see, a space to notice, rather than analysis paralysis. Very good. I know this step is really important, because if we dont honor our fears, we may block our intuition. And yet if we over-contemplate them, we may never get anywhere. Yes, one could go around and around in circles by over-analyzing. However, we can notice and allow our fears and limiting beliefs to surface instead of getting over-mental about them. As we allow them to surface, we will remember to breathe. The rising and falling of our breath will assist us in moving forward. Now listen carefully. We notice--not analyze--with our minds. We become watchful. As we do, we develop our inner observer. Now we combine this watchful state with the physical action of conscious breathing. We form intent with our breath to breathe in light and exhale limitation. As we breathe deeply, we invite in much love and light. This process provides an opening for greater levels of awareness. As we exhale, we breathe out stress, fear, doubt, etc. As we gently practice this cycle of light inlimitation outgreater space arises in our beings. That helps our intuition to flow as naturally as our breath. Since its so important, Ill repeat what you said. We breathe in light and exhale limitation. Now what type of breathing do you recommend? Deep belly breathing? Yes, deep belly breathing engages the whole body chakra system. Breathing from low in our abdomens helps us breathe in light and to release the blocks to our energy system and our ability to be fully aligned and connected to the earth. It seems that practicing this kind of intentional breathing will help us come to the precious present moment. Yes. By centering and releasing, we begin to crack open the door for heightening our awareness. As we enjoy these first two steps, we lay a delightful foundation for expanding our intuition. Let me summarize how these first two steps come together. After we have sensed that we are grounded, we acknowledge our center through the affirmations you gave earlier. Then we notice any fears and limitations that may have come to our awareness. Next we breathe in light and love from deep in our bellies and use that energy to release the fears and limitations as we exhale. How long do we do this process? We do this until we feel calm and relaxed. The more a person plays-practices this simple process, the easier it becomes.

9 The Developing Intuition Series

Is there anything else you would like to say about this second step, center and release? I am excited that so many of our readers are enjoying this series and becoming more conscious and aware of their intuition. Developing intuition provides a portal for bringing greater amounts of love, compassion, and understanding into the world. Having this skill also supports people in connecting with meaningful resources that help them attain greater levels of happiness. That is magnificent, Alana. Thank you for your guidance. Is there anything else you would like to say? Yes. Alana-Heart is very excited to sense the shifts that are occurring on the planet as people engage in greater levels of awareness. These actions co-create greater levels of actualized respond-ability and a vast capacity to love!

*************
Please remember to play-practice before you read further, since the next step is built upon the first two. In the next chapter, we are going to focus on how we can affirm our connection to all that is. The benefits of this third step, affirming, will greatly assist our connection with Spirit.

10 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 3: Affiirmiing Chap er 3: Aff rm ng

Alana, in Chapter 2 we focused on learning how to combine the first two steps to developing intuition. Now that our readers have had an opportunity to combine the practice of grounding and centering with releasing blocks and limitations, do you have anything else you would like to add? I imagine everyone has had a wonderful time experimenting with the process. This is because they most likely felt their bodies lighten and move into a much more relaxed state. They aroused opportunities to let go of the stress that builds up from day-to-day living. There is so much going on in the world during these times. The first two steps in The Developing Intuition Series provide an oasis that helps us to distance from fear, chaos, and confusion. Why is that? When we create stillness and openness, it helps us connect with the reserves of love and light within. In the same way a well provides us with life-giving water, entering this sacred space provides us with self-love, balance, and connection with nature and creativity. When we ground, center, and release it's easier for us to sense our beautiful inner well of love. What would you recommend to a person who, after practicing the first two steps, doesn't feel she/he has connected to what you call the inner well? I recommend the person simply continue to play with the steps and experiment. Practice through play is how we can learn to awaken our senses. I encourage everyone to let go of any need to make these lessons too complex. Okay, so we don't have to figure out exactly what we are doing. Are you saying we just have to be willing and take small action steps? Correct! Be willing to Breathe Sense Mother Earth Acknowledge your senses Let go of stress in the body Suspend any limiting beliefs

11 The Developing Intuition Series

Thank you. Let's move to Step Three: Affirming. I have watched Sandy connect with her intuition hundreds of times. As she follows the first two steps we've outlined, I notice subtle elevations in her energy. Each step she takes builds upon the previous one. I notice that in the third step, Sandy quietly affirms a powerful statement. As with the earlier steps, I can sense a deepening of her state and an elevation of her energy. Yes. These shifts occur as she combines the intention of these three steps together. They form the foundation for connecting with her intuition and can work for anyone who has the desire to learn. Affirming is what clarifies the kind of energies with which we wish to align and more fully opens the door to connecting with Spirit. Once a connection is made, an observer can notice a more relaxed look upon the person's face. The person is still conscious of breathing and is more relaxed after allowing his/her limitations to release. It's wonderful to watch a person enter into this kind of state, connected to all that is. Does the affirmation help clarify our intention? Yes. Would you suggest an affirmation? I would like to. We phrase our intention into words. The intention needs to be very clear and precise. As we connect with Spirit, we want to make sure that we connect with only that which is love and light. Are there any dangers to this step? No. Our intention is to only connect with pure love, and we state this. The affirmation Alana is suggesting will invoke complete protection from any negative forces. Sandy uses the following affirmation: "Divine Light, flow through me, as I release limitation, to bring forth that which is essential, for the highest and best good of all concerned." If you like, replace "divine light" with a favorite term such Goddess, God, The Universe, Divine Love and Light, Light, Love, Spirit, Divine Energy, Cosmic Energy, Infinite Wisdom, FatherMother God, etc. A person can simply use whatever term resonates most deeply with her or his heart. For example, if a person's favorite word for all that is is Eternal Kindness, the person would say, "Eternal Kindness, flow through me, to bring forth that which is essential, for the highest and best good of all concerned." We connect with our notion of all that is and then align with three additional intentions: The first intention is, "that which is essential." The second is, "release limitation." The third is, "the highest and best good of all concerned."

12 The Developing Intuition Series

By connecting with only that which is essential, we don't attract communication with energies that have something to say but are not inclined to give us useful information. If we didn't create this intention, we would be kept quite busy! Why? Because there are many nonvisible beings who are eager to share their opinions, often stating them as "truths," and provide directions they want us to follow. By intending to release all limitations, we gracefully transcend all limiting beliefs. By connecting with only the highest and best good of all concerned, we will not invite confused, manipulative energies who are interested in control and power. Instead, we will be lovingly guided to helpful and useful information. I like how you described each part of the affirmation, Alana. I know this technique works extremely well since Sandy and I discovered you back in 1992 by following these steps. You certainly did, dear one. Even though this affirmation appears simple, the intent is clear, concise, and very useful. Very good, Alana. Is there anything else you would like to say? As you practice-play with this affirming step, enjoy the feeling that comes from connecting with Spirit and all that is. It may feel like falling in love or like bliss. Those of you whose senses are already tuned to these subtle levels may begin to feel expanded, lighter, or even heavier. You may even have a sensation of getting bigger. The important thing to remember is to play and enjoy the experience!

*************
To paraphrase Alana, as you practice affirming, please play and enjoy! The next chapter covers the aligning process, which teaches how to align our hearts with all that is. As you will see, this fourth step builds upon the first three. It is an important one, since it acts as a bridge to the metaphysical realms.

13 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 4: Alliigniing Chap er 4: A gn ng

We are moving into a very exciting step in developing intuition. In the previous chapters we have had an opportunity to experience what it feels like to ground and center while suspending limiting beliefs and releasing blocked energy. We also discovered how to affirm our connection with all that is. Practicing these steps helped us move into a very relaxed and clear state, one that opens a door that leads us to heightened intuitive gathering. Now we are ready for the fourth step in our series, which we call aligning. This step creates a bridge between our perception of the physical world and the metaphysical realms. By the way, meta means beyond. Therefore, metaphysical means beyond the physical. Since physical reality is held within the context of the metaphysical, the two are not opposites. The spiritual domain of metaphysics contains the underlying blueprints for physical reality. Alana, would you like to say a little bit about the non-visible realms and why we would want to bother with this whole process? Yes, I will be happy to. The process of developing intuition teaches us how to listen to others and ourselves. Listening is a valuable component of communication. It heightens our ability to observe and learn from nature. There is a wealth of subtle information being directed to us at all times. The openness required for intuitive gathering is a skill we can develop and a sign of intelligence. It allows people to utilize more of the knowledge and wisdom they possess in their being, and sense their connection with all that is. Many cultures struggle because they are caught up in giving validity to the things people can experience with their external five physical senses. This certainly has confused our perceptions of love, and directed many away from their values. It has stifled our growth as Humankind. When we idolize the physical world, we create a sense of separation between our souls and our bodies. We are then much less aware of our body's capabilities and the wisdom that is within us. As we gain more strength in trusting our abilities to know and understand, we become more conscious of our wholeness. We learn there is something bigger than us, a reality beyond our physical perceptions. A metaphysical reality gives us hope and faith that we can find answers to the questions that cannot be answered through physical reality alone.

14 The Developing Intuition Series

Wonderful. How does the distinction between physical and metaphysical tie in with our next step? What do you mean when you suggest we align? As we begin to expand into a greater reality of who we are, we learn how to create a bridge between the physical world and the non-visible realms. We go through a doorway that opens to an expansive bridge. We want to cross this elevated bridge and enter the doorway on the other side. First, we have to prepare, just as we did in Steps One through Three. We need to align our nature and intention so that when we come to the doorway on the other side of the bridge we can easily go through the door. We want a safe passage to connect with energies on the other side of the door who are in alignment with us. Can you guess, Kirk, what I am leading up to? Yes. What beautiful part of our natures might have the capacity to align with, and allow us to connect in, these delightful ways? What part of our nature embraces love, and is able to act as a receiver and transmitter of essential information that is of the highest and best good? Our Heart Center, Alana! Very good. Our heart is our infinite highway to the wise and wonderful. Our heart has the capacity to listen intently. When we align with our heart, we automatically step upon the bridge, which connects us to the more subtle realms (subtle to our five senses). We receive through our hearts. In fact, we receive all the time, even if we are not yet aware of what we are receiving. In Steps Four through Six we are going to learn to align, ask, and consciously receive! Sounds great. In this process, Alana, how does a person connect with her/his heart? What practical steps can we take to awaken the connection with our heart and ensure we are on the bridge to intuitive gathering? This step is built upon the energy and intent of the first three steps. We continue being responsive to the breath's wonderful influence on our body. Therefore, we continue to breathe deeply from our belly. Then we close our eyes and place our attention from up in our head downward into our body. We allow ourselves to become aware of our inner being. How do we allow ourselves to become aware of our inner being? We acknowledge the present moment, and our abilities to sense both inward and outward.

15 The Developing Intuition Series

Great. And then? Then we place our attention on our heart. We feel our heart center begin to expand to include our... Entire body... Immediate surroundings... City or countryside... Country... Continent... Planet Earth... Solar system... Milky Way Galaxy... Universe... Multiverse of all universes... Rising and falling of breath...wholeness.

We stay with the sensations this brings up, as we breathe. Very powerful, Alana. Would it help to place our hands on our hearts as we do this process? Why yes, Kirk. Doing so can support our conscious intention to remember we already are, and always have been, that which we seek. We can use all of our five senses-including our sense of touch, hands-to-heart, to imagine our connection with the entire universe...and beyond. Is there anything else you would like to share about aligning our heart? Yes. Everyone will feel the sensations of aligning with their hearts and stepping onto this bridge in their own unique ways. One or more of their senses will begin to perk up. Won't it be fun to notice what senses come forward into awareness as we continue with this series of steps? Absolutely. We are nearing the place in the series where we actually begin to step into the doorway to the non-visible realms. What do we have to look forward to in the next chapter, Alana? We are going to learn how to present our questions so that we may begin receiving intuitive information and sensing our connections with our guides and other wise energies. Please play-practice what you have learned in this chapter. Next we will discuss Step Five, Asking, in which we actually begin to ask Spirit for answers to our heartfelt questions!

16 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 5: Askiing Chap er 5: Ask ng

In this exciting chapter, we are going to learn how to ask Spirit for answers to our heartfelt questions. Do you sense anything about readers who have learned and playpracticed what we have discussed thus far? Yes. It is wonderful to feel all the light shining from the doorway of everyone's being into the doorway of spiritual awareness. This is a blessed co-creation that represents our awakening to our personal power, our oneness with all that is. It is wonderful to remember that we do not need permission to connect with Spirit, for Spirit is always willing to communicate. Since our previous four steps have built a pathway to Spirit, we are now ready to reach further into the inner realms. Would you like to share what we may encounter as we form the questions we are wishing to present to Spirit? Yes. Many of us have forgotten how to ask for help in life. We often become overly selfcontained and attempt to solve problems from a limited state of awareness. We often hold illusions that we are separate from all that is one. We forget that we are also divine, can ask for help, and be supported by Spirit. We often respond to life as if we are on an island far out of reach from the abundance of the world. We become enclosed in our ways of thinking and doing. We forget how to respond with an open mind. We forget that the deep intentions behind our thoughts are messages that determine how the universe is able to respond to us. So, we are learning a process that will help us remember that answers await our questions. I also want to again remind everyone of the opportunity to play, as we take each step in this series. As we revel in this process, it allows us to set aside any patterns we may have that might limit us from receiving guidance, support, and understanding. It will also enable us to receive information that is essential to the answers we seek. Approaching the topic of intuition with lightness will help us remember that it is okay to ask for what will support our highest and best good. Are there questions we shouldn't ask? What if we worry that the questions we want to ask might be stupid? In other words, can we ask only spiritual types of questions? Before beginning this process, questions may come to mind that are formed from the mind. By the time we move to the asking step, the questions may richly transform into ones that reflect the deeper intention behind the original question. So, I would not worry about how the question might sound to Spirit. Spirit will sense the true nature of the question, and the

17 The Developing Intuition Series

answer will be a mirror of the deeper intent of the question. We will discuss this topic more in the final step in this series. Before we started at Step One, grounding, we may have formulated a list of questions. Are you saying that by the time we actually move into the asking step, we may have reshaped how we want to state our questions? Yes. It is important to allow the process to unfold. We can trust the process, and know that Spirit receives the true intention behind each question. Are there any questions we should not ask; for example, questions about others or life and death types of questions? You can ask anything you wish. Spirit will bring only answers that are in alignment with the highest and best good, answers that are essential to the question. That is why we carefully created a clear intent and affirmation earlier on in the series. It would not be useful to gather information that was of any other nature. This seems clear. Let's now discuss how we may feel when we are asking questions. What if we feel silly or doubtful that any energy in the Spirit world could possibility hear, or perhaps care about, our questions? Those are wonderful concerns to expand upon! If someone feels silly or doubtful, that would be a great place to start. They can simply form a question about how they are feeling. Does it matter whether we ask questions silently to ourselves? Or, is it better to ask them out loud? We may ask silently or out loud. When we ask out loud, the question is often heard more clearly. Asking out loud also helps us to engage more of our senses. It is also important to allow all emotions to come up. If we have questions about the feelings that arise, we can ask a question about them! It is okay to ask questions and to then feel whatever comes up. That is part of the process of learning how to connect with Spirit. As we sense our feelings, it helps us move from being unsure of this process, to becoming aware and comfortable of the process. From there, intuitive sensing can become quite spontaneous and natural. It is important to be willing to go through the various stages and experiences. Thanks, Alana. Is there anything else you would like offer to help us ask our questions? I encourage you all to begin formulating a list of questions that you wish Spirit to answer. In the mean time, keep practicing steps One through Four. In the sixth and final step we will begin to receive answers to our heartfelt questions.

18 The Developing Intuition Series

Chaptter 6: Receiiviing Chap er 6: Rece v ng

We are now at the sixth step of The Developing Intuition Series. I am sure everyone is eager to learn about how to receive. Yes. We have built a wonderful crescendo of energy, and the love of Spirit eagerly waits to share light, understanding, and wisdom. Now that we have a process for opening a door into the spiritual realms, how can we expect to receive from our intuition? Much depends on how well you have practiced the first five steps. Remember that your experience is unique. Remember to enjoy the experience. Remember to allow both yourself and Spirit the time to learn how to work together. You see, Spirit will be learning too; learning how to align with your intuitive abilities. There is learning on both sides and practice is a wonderful way to utilize time as a tool. I see. We must learn how to connect with Spirit, and Spirit must learn how to connect with us. Each one of us senses in our own way. This is why it is important for us to keep practicing and to remain lighthearted. When we practice the sixth step of receiving by presenting our question, what are some of the possibilities that might occur? There may be some excitement and anticipation. Depending on which of your inner five senses are heightened, you may receive images, words, feelings, and even an inner awareness of taste or smell. We represent all reality with our five senses. That's how our mind and body operate. It only makes sense that intuitive messages would be received by our same five senses. I've noticed in my own intuitive practice that many of the messages I receive are very subtle. For example, an inner visual image might be quite faint or auditory words might be received at a low volume. Yes. Often this is the way Spirit shares information. However, the answer may also be very clear and precise. Again, everyone's experience is unique. One excellent way of knowing that you are connecting with Spirit is when the answer is very loving and holds neither judgment nor a command for action that goes against your nature. For Spirit wishes to empower, not control.

19 The Developing Intuition Series

What if Spirit tells a person he/she should or shouldn't do something? What might be going on? Spirit will most always point us within ourselves, rather than make decisions for us. Spirit will support us in finding our own answers. If what you mention happens this could mean that you are still connecting with aspects of the self, or even lower vibrational beings. If this is the case, then simply ask yourself if the information is useful. If not, go back to Steps One through Four and reinforce your intention. Then ask your question again. This time the answer will most likely come from a clearer place. It's also a great idea to write your experiences in a journal so you can learn from the interaction. With experience, the process will become easier and the answers you receive will be more useful. What if the answers come, but our minds doubt whether the information is really coming from Spirit? Over the years, I've been privileged to train hundreds of people to access their intuition. In my experience, self-doubt is by far the greatest stumbling block to trusting the process. Embrace the doubt, and then align with love. Then go back through the steps and ask the question again. Remember, developing your intuition may be a brand new experience. It could feel familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. If the answers come from the Ego (your mind's illusions that it is separate from all that is), that is okay. Embrace and love your ego, and then continue practicing. Eventually, connection with the higher self (use any term you prefer) will take place and you will be able to easily connect with your guides and angels. What if the answer we receive seems totally unrelated from the question? It could be that Spirit is still learning how to find ways to communicate by reaching through a small crack in the door! If you're having trouble discerning the answer you receive, simply ask for clarification. When an answer comes, it is okay to ask a clarifying question, just like when two people communicate. In contrast to answers being too subtle, sometimes we can receive so much information that we feel overloaded. What do you suggest if this happens? Yes, you may become overwhelmed by the amount of information that wishes to come through. When Spirit finds that you can receive, they will sometimes flood you with information. When this happens, just relax and ask to communicate with one specific guide, one who is especially well aligned with your highest and best good, to act as a spokesperson. This way you can develop a strong link. Doing so will assist you in receiving essential information, and also nurture you along the way.

That will bring comfort to many people. What closing comments would you like to share? When the mind and heart are working together, it creates a beautiful expression. When the mind and heart embrace the deeper intuitive senses, you will be able to grasp how connected you are to all that is.
