But issue arises that does it have enough potential to stick around as a lucrative and a cost-effective business option and can it pour some much needed money into Pakistans starved economy. Can it be the next big thing? Therefore the most important question that our research will explore is Whether ostrich farming is a feasible business option in Pakistan or not?. The main objective of the research which we will be conduct is Feasibility study Acceptability of ostrich farming In this report, we will use both exploratory and conclusive research design. Our focus will be on single cross-sectional method. Our data sources will be respondents, secondary data. Survey will be conducted form 50 respondents with matrix analysis of non verbal communication. We will also take interviews from people who are already involved in this business as well as from nutritionist and meat suppliers.

Introduction
Ostrich farming first started in 1860s in South Africa. Their economy depended heavily on their ostrich industry. The ostrich hide was used to make accessories like belts and bags and the feathers were used in clothing. But then due to World War II and the change in womens fashion. The ostrich farming industry nosedived. In 1945, the Klein Karoo Cooperative was formed to promote and to control the supply of ostrich manufactured products. Due to their good marketing strategy, ostrich leather became the next prized product in the 1970s, satisfying the desires of affluent ladies with different ostrich leather accessories especially handbags. To a lesser extent ostrich leather became fashionable in the American cowboy boot market as well. When it comes to the popularization of ostrich farming outside South Africa, Israel was the first to see it as a profitable business but the real boom started off in USA, where willing buyers paid in excess of USD 30,000 per pair. Australia and United Kingdom were the next in line to follow the trend and thus ostrich farming became an in thing. Hence, the craze for ostrich farming began in other European countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Italy as well. Birds were exported from all over the world Zimbabwe, South Africa and USA. Only a very few of the original farms exist today and the latest country to join the bandwagon is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Today ostrich farming is being considered among the most profitable agricultural projects. Ostriches are raised commercially for their meat, hide and feathers. Currently there are about hundred countries involved in the commercial farming namely Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, China, Egypt, Israel and many African countries.

service to its clients. POC imports, produces, distributes, maintains and supplies ostrich chicks. It is also running national and international marketing and sales campaigns to ensure sales of ostrich meat, leather, feathers and other products.

Purpose of research
The concept of ostrich farming arrived in Pakistan somewhere around 2009. This makes it a fairly new business practice in Pakistan. For a long time, people in Pakistan have been much occupied with livestock farms, poultry and fish farms. According to the statistics presented in Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries and Poultry Seminar on February 4th, 2011, 8 million of Pakistani population earns through livestock farming while 1.5 million people from poultry and fish farming each. These modes of farming have been here for too long that they have now become stale business ideas and people do not see them anymore as very lucrative business options. Furthermore as statistics show, there is already a lot of competition when it comes to livestock, poultry and fish farms. Ostrich farming, on the other hand, has just emerged on the scene. It is a novel idea for the people of Pakistan and like every other novelty this new business practice also has the potential for investors, business people and farm owners to give it due attention. But question arises that does it have enough potential to stick around as a lucrative and a cost-effective business option and can it pour some much needed money into Pakistans starved economy. Can it be the next big thing?

Problem Statement
Ostrich farming is a very successful business practice in many parts of the world especially in European countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Italy. In countries like South Africa it is the principal constituent of their farming industry. On the other hand, it has just arrived in our part of the world and by looking at the example of countries where ostrich farming holds its own and has developed into an entire industry itself, it appears to be very promising. Contrarily, the success of this new prospectively profitable business in other parts of the world does not guarantee its success in Pakistan. Pakistan differs from these countries demographically, psychologically and, the most important, economically. Therefore the most important question that our research will explore is Whether ostrich farming is a feasible business option in Pakistan or not?. The feasibility study would include: Potential risks Potential opportunities

We will use exploratory research method to collect the information about the prospective problems and opportunities which one has to face while starting this business. We will also use different methods which are discussed below to collect first-hand data on the issues stated above. Other than those, various reliable sources of secondary data will also be used to gather information.

Conclusive research
The information gained from exploratory research will then be used to conduct conclusive research. We will go for single cross-sectional research design because we need respondents input for just once. We will opt for interviews and surveys to test the information collected in first phase of our research.

Methodology
Mode of data collection For data collection we will use the following methods: Surveys For data collection we will conduct survey that will be questionnaire based. The questionnaire will contain 6-8 open ended questions based on respondents preferences. Matrix Along with survey we will also use matrix for non-verbal communication assessing. As non-verbal cues is a more reliable way of assessing first response than a verbal one. So for that we will measure the first response elicited by the respondents such as pleasure, disgust, and amusement of respondents through matrix. Sample size The sample size for our research will be 50. We will divide it into two categories. One will be comprise of people who are involved in food business.

They will probably give us insight on peoples preferences and the other category will be of men and women of age 35-50. Interviews We will conduct interviews from people who are already in this business as they will give us valuable information on the feasibility of this business and the opportunities and threats involved. We will also consult a nutritionist to get information about the nutritional value of ostrich meat and eggs as using them as a food product is not a common practice in Pakistan. We will conduct telephonic interviews as conducting face to face interviews might not be possible. All such interviews will be recorded. Secondary data We will also use various secondary data to support our research. Data analysis The data that would collected will be analyzed in tabulation form as it is a convenient to analyze and interpret data.
