A serial killer, as typically defined, is an individual who has murdered three or more people over a period of more than a month, with down time (a "cooling off period") between the murders, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification. Other sources define the term as "a series of two or more murders, committed as separate events, usually, but not always, by one offender acting alone" or, including the vital characteristics, a minimum of at least two murders. Serial killings are usually a product of a mental illness. These people feel their insatiable urge to kill because killing makes them feel alive. Yes, the world may not be a very good place to live in for some people. However, whatever reason these serial killers had, it is surely not a reason to kill innocent souls. You cant just make this world an awful place to live in for everyone just because it has been awful to you.
