Building-Code Definition of Compressive strength

The specified compressive strength, fc, is measured by compression tests on 6-by12-in. 4 b 8 in. li d t t d ft 12 i or 4-by-8 i cylinders tested after 28 days of moist curing. This is the d f it i Thi i th strength specified on the construction drawings and used in the calculations. The required mean strength of the concrete, fcr, must be at least (fc 5000 psi) use the larger value of: i) th l l f fcr= fc+1.34s fcr= fc+2.33s-500 (fc >5000 psi) use the larger value of: fcr= fc+1.34s fcr= 0.9fc+2.33s 0.9f 2.33s Where s is the standard deviation.
