DSAS Type 1 - Steel Battery Pack - Removal and Refit

Tools required: Phillips No 2 Screwdriver Phillips No 4 Screwdriver Spanner or Socket 10mm Scalpel or cutting knife 1. Undo 8x outer stainless steel case bolts with 10mm spanner. 2. Remove lid. Make a note of the orientation of cut out in lid section. 3. Undo 4 inner case bolts (with large Phillips screwdriver) and carefully remove lid. 4. When removing lid take care not to move or damage the micro- switch (if fitted). 5. Remove fuse F2 to isolate from Ship Supply, whilst you are doing this check that the fuse has not blown. 6. Remove fuse F5 to isolate from battery pack, whilst you are doing this check that the fuse has not blown. Do not proceed until fuse f5 has been removed. 8. Undo 2 Phillips screws (with small Phillips) screwdriver. 9. Hinge / Lift PCB panel to upright position. Do not over hinge the lid. 10. Remove plug connector from socket on the underside of the hinged panel. 11. Cut the vent tube pipe no more than 5mm from the blue right angle fitting on the old battery pack (using knife). 12. Lift battery case by handle and remove. 13. Fit new case ensuring the pack is seated correctly into base and spacers on the underside of the pack, fit correctly to U brackets. 14. Connect new plug to socket on hinged panel ensure that the plug and socket orientation is correct. 15. Replace vent tube onto the battery pack by pushing the vent tube onto the right angle vent. Support the right angle vent as the tube is pushed on

16. Hinge down the PCB panel ensuring that the vent tube and battery leads do not get trapped between the hinging panel and battery pack, replace Phillips screws. 17. Replace fuse F5 to reconnect battery pack. 18. Note the LEDs on the circuit (2 to 6) will now each come on in turn to indicate that the supply is re-connected correctly. LED 3 (OP2) and LED 6 (OP5) will remain on. 19. Replace fuse F2 to reconnect to the Ships Supply. LED 1 (+Charge) will come on. 20. Functionality test. Wait two minutes LED 6 (OP5) will now go off. 21. If the unit is fitted with a micro switch press and hold it gently for 10 sec. Ensure that LED 3 (OP2) will switch off when micro-switch pressed (Only operate the micro-switch once). 22. Carefully replace the lid ensuring that the seal is seated correctly between the inner case halves. Take care to not damage or move the micro switch when replacing the lid. 23. Re-tighten the screws in the corners of the lid. 24. Replace outer steel case lid remembering to maintain the correct orientation with the satellite transmitter. 25. Replace and tighten the outer case bolts. 26. Test functionality of unit.
